I would have loved it if Ahsoka had an Icelandic accent. I love the accent and I think it sounds so unique and cool. The character Lyna from Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers has the same accent and it sounds so good.

If you're learning Icelandic, it probably helps to learn to emulate the accent in English first, and then it isn't a stretch to just apply it to Icelandic!

Ahsoka Tano was originally supposed to have an Icelandic accent, but they couldn’t get it quite right. So they dropped it.

Icelandic and the Icelandic accent are unbelievably beautiful, I can't even describe it. More languages should have this same sentiment.
A funny fact is that we in Iceland have a few different accents too. Southern, Western, East and North. I speak with a Northern accent. She is most likely south. The Northern accent includes very pronounced R (even stronger than she gave here), very pronounced K, G and T, and milder L.

The V/W thing always baffled me. You guys don't have a W in your language! Why on Earth would you change Vs to Ws like that??? It would be like if English people switched all your Os to Ös when they spoke Icelandic.

jevicci In Icelandic, the letter v is sometimes pronounced as v and sometimes as w. Sometimes it can be either way. So we're not used to differenciating the sounds.
OK, that makes sense. I've never noticed it when hearing Icelanders speak. I guess my ears aren't attuned enough to your language to be able to pick that out. Thank you for finally clearing that up for me! That's been making me scratch my head for years now and no Icelander I've ever asked about it was able to explain it.
I'll add that this is just my theory. I've been wondering about this for a while now, after having become aware of this confusion in my own speech when speaking English. I have to constantly remind myself that w and v are actually different sounds!
V sounding like w in Icelandic is not immediately apparent. I've noticed this most when v is in the middle of words. For example: you could pronounce 'hvalur', 'svo' and 'þvottur' with either a v or a w sound. When the v is the first letter of the word, a w sound is not as natural, but can occur in 'lazy' or fast speech when the word is in the middle of a sentence.
I've also noticed that some of the time, the letter v in Icelandic sounds neither like an English v or w, but is somewhere in between.

I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which has the largest Icelandic population outside of Iceland. I am a proud (Canadian) son of Iceland. Our last name was changed from the traditional, Icelandic convention, to a more Canadian last name: Oddsson. Unfortunately, I am now stuck with an Irish last name. I have a couple of bottles of Brennivín chilling in the fridge, for those days when I need a bit of a Viking boost. Valhalla bíður!

When Icelanders pronounce the "r", it sounds like they were whistling, and that's pretty funny... In Spanish (my native language), we pronounce the "r" with some rolling, but it's not as eloquent as in Icelandic...
But, I can't pronounce the Spanish "r" properly because of the form of my mouth (they say I have "frenillo" in Spanish, it's not the worsr thing), so, my Icelandic accent will need hard work. Ég elska myndbönd þin.

Yeah the Icleandic r's are a bit tricky. We do roll the r's but it's softer.
