Its encouraging to see Britannia finally get their act together. Some refurbishment was needed. With a bit of luck it will encourage others to lower their prices. As even the Premier Inns are getting expensive. Keep up the good work!!
As soon as the government stops the asylum seekers being put up in the hotels prices will fall considerably but until then prices will be higher as there aren't as many hotel rooms available
Only issue with brittania is they seem to get pockets of money for refurbishments stayed at the adelphi last year and they were doing a very miniscule part of the hotel which fair play but they don't have the money to do the rest which means when they eventually do the rest the bits they've already done won't be the same standards because times passed same as the burstin in folkestone

I have seen this hotel half way through last year, definitely looks a lot better now than last year. And the prices are very reasonable you can't complain about £27 and £28 pound. The room seemed nice and clean. At last they seem to be making things a lot better.
Definitely agree with the findings in your video. I recently stayed at the Grand and have no complaints. An amazing stunning building both inside and out. Certainly a Scarborough landmark. Yes certain parts are still looking a bit faded and still could do with some TLC. It probably has a lot more potential. In its hayday it must have been amazing. Like you I found my room to be adequate, fresh and clean. I did pay a bit more though - £75 a night room only but that was for August - height of the Summer season. But you'd pay double that and more even for some Premier Inns. Completely satisfied and I'll definitely stay there again.
It's an amazing building. This hotel caters to the budget market and I feel its well worth the money like you say it's more than half the price of a premier inn.
Thanks mate. I enjoyed that. I live in Scarborough and am fed up of people slagging off who obviously have no idea. The Grand serves a purpose and offers brilliant value. Obviously if you can afford a 5 star hotel the Grand is not for you, but as a base to enjoy the sights and delights of Scarborough is perfect. Thanks for an unbiased review
Got back home from the Grand yesterday. It has had a bit of a refurbishment and looks a whole lot better. The view is amazing from the balcony. I wasn’t much for the evening meal, but it certainly wouldn’t stop me from going again. It’s a very old building , but personally I love the place. 👍👍.
@@wanderingwiganer . I think the same. Another thing about Scarborough is that the high street has so many shops and is pretty vibrant too. A really lovely place. My elderly mother was with us and she thoroughly enjoyed herself. 👍👍.
Enjoyed my breaks there when it was Butlins but had a bad time when it changed to Britannia. Again like the Llandudno one it had a good snooker room in the basement but Britannia got rid of it. Glad to see Britannia waking up and trying to improve their sites especially this grand building 🙂
Love this one, I’d definitely stay there. Camera a bit wobbly today, you might be better with a “gimbal” to help stabilise it when your walking. Wondering do you ask permission to film or do you just risk it, some places ask you not to film especially if you’ve not asked, I’m thinking maybe your room was changed because they noticed you were filming and they wouldn’t want a bad room review. Well done Britannia Hotels, it’s a 👍 this time 😊
It was the first time using the new camera and I had the wrong setting on😭 but going forward it'll be sorted I usually on film once I've checked in so the camera isn't on display at first. I don't ask to film doubt they'd have an issue with it anyway as its free publicity
@@wanderingwiganer I would liked to see more of the single room did it have a decent shower and loo? if I was on my own I would have slept ok in there if the toilet facilities where OK.
I stayed in grand this summer just gone and they is absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel and the staff are fantastic and friendly And the room was clean and tidy
New camera is a bit bright but probably get use to it. You can rent your house out and stay at the hotel be quids in. Lol 🤪 Your probably getting noticed hence the double room lol 😀👍

I might visit there next week at them prices what site do u book them on please am sure other people what to know this two as u got some bargains keep up the great work.
Are Britannia wisely using the money they took from the government to house illegal immigrants to improve and refurbish their Grand Hotels? Very good if that is the case!
Yes but most of their hotels are closed ro the public and still used to house asylum seekers they are refurbishing but definitely doing it on the cheap

You should have a look at citzencard ID it's accepted as an official ID and you don't need to have documentation you can appoint a referee who can verify you. Hopefully then you can choose to stay anywhere hope this help 😀

No problem I just say it how I see it! The other britannia over the road is even better!
Stayed here over Xmas period ,clean rooms ,good food ,great views, would highly recommend all year round
