@XP11XP Yes, the sound is OK. Don't think it's because of YT. I've selected the restoration that sounded the best to me and which was true to the original recording. It's correct that he at this time had evolved into a more dramatic or spinto than a lyrical tenor. On my website I have the other of the two recordings of this canzone from December 1902. Sounds great too (digital transfer from an original 78). It's here: mywebsite slash musicdetails.php questionmark mid=260
I admire Enrico Caruso more than any other tenor, but I am surprised that this recording was released. The first verse is marginally sharp, but obviously so.
Bravissimo maestro !!!
Che lucenti acuti finali! Esecuzione inarrivabile.
Beautiful singing ! Bravo ENRICO CARUSO :)
Thanks for uploading this recordings.

@tomfroekjaer ... Come to think of it. Maybe I should just upload the 1902 version!
@XP11XP Just uploaded the 1902 version. Direct digital transfer from an original 78 recording: watch?v=myZJG8034ME

Nonsense...! Not one single note is anything but spot-on pitch wise.
