I never comment. But Dude, you videos are excellent. No fluff. Straight to the point. And your camera usage is spot on. Perfectly framed shots. To include great close ups on intricate items. Never shake or off camera shots. Nice job!
U are the Goat. For Fathers day 2021 my wife just brought me a new Craftsman weedeater from Lowes($135). Fresh out the box the first time using it would brog down and I was getting upset and was going to take it back. After looking at your video it was a simple fix. U helped me save time and money. Thank sir. God bless u and be safe in mist of this Pandemic.
Seriously, one of the ONLY channels that get right to it, explains literally every step, and no damn annoying music or “story time” about an irrelevant topic. Thank you!
Your videos are just what I have been searching for to try to get my 2 cycle engines running correctly. From the rebuild and clean right to the proper way to adjust the carburetor. Thank You Very much.
Thanks for the help, my wife's co-worker gave me Craftsman weed eater and it didn't stay running unless u played with the choke. I watched ur video and used the hacksaw across the adjustment screws to use a screw driver to make the adjustments and in less than five minutes it was running like a champ!! Awesome video ur the Greatest
I have searched through several vids on how to adjust the carb and yours is the best. You explained what you did, how you did and why you did. Even the statement at the end on how to reset the adjustment screws, others were saying 1 full turn and 3/4 turn to start. 1.5 turns on both screws helped mine as other adjustments did not. For others out there needing the D shaped tool, dont bother wasting your time with butt connectors or bic pens. Probably not going to work as it did not for me. Just buy the kit for $10 on ebay.
Of all the RUclips videos I have watched in trying to learn about carburetor adjustments on a 2 stroke leaf blower, this one is by far the most professional, clearly shown and easy to understand. Thank you sir, for an outstanding video.
Goes to show you can..learn something new everyday im 60 yrs old and been around 2 and 4 cycle lawncare equipment . Thanks for the info on the carb and needle valve part. excellent video .
The main thing I needed to know was the initial settings of the carburetor, which is start with both Low & Hi screws all the way in and down, then back out the Low1/4 turn and the Hi 1-1/2 turns to start with, then go from there. I had no manual and have relied on a local small engines shop and internet. You brought out some good points, including the adjustment notch cut all the way across to use a screwdriver and setting idle for no movement and the string line out to normal length for the load before making the final adjustments.
You really have the talent of how to teach, and convey your message to us students in the you tube classroom. I've watched other video's that just waste the viewers time with miscellaneous stuff that has nothing to do with the actual carb tuning. Thank you for a top shelf tutorial that has helped me and countless others. All the best with gratitude from New Rochelle N.Y.
I took a hacksaw to mine and made those same grooves just like yours and after making the adjustments it works perfectly. Thank you so much for all your help...
I watched the video done exactly what he said and it worked perfectly...my craftsman blower and weed eater haven't worked this good in 2yrs...very informative video
First start this year with fresh gas & my Ryobi brush cutter kept bogging down when trying to rev plus idle was poor. Was going to order a new carb so checked out you tube first. Was not sure what adustments were available on the carb Stripped & cleaned the carb plus cut the slots in the adjustment screws .Thanks for pointing out the high & low adjustments.Running better than ever now
Awesome video! Thank you so much! We need more people who are just straight to the point. Some videos I watch people talk about other stuff for three or four minutes before ever getting into it. This is how a PRO makes a video. I have to say that you are a pro!
Thankyou. Easy simple and after raising idle so it wouldn't stall, adjusting wasn't difficult except for high speed adjustments and engine vibration. Works
We have a homelite that has not stayed cranked the entire time we have owned it. Even sent it to be adjusted twice with no luck. After this video it runs great and even idles. Thank You!
I’ve probably thrown out a dozen of weed eaters over the years not realizing that the carburetor needed to be adjusted I’m really glad I figured this out a few years ago.
Thanks a heep for both your videos. I cut my carburator adjustment slot as you showed and can now adjust the mix. My son found this trimmer (Yard Machine Y2500) in the garbage and would not start up at all. Needed a new bulb and spark plug plus a good carb cleaning. Everything else is pristine condition. Now works great. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for your video. I looked all over the internet on what the factory settings were... And you covered it within the last 2 minutes of your video. A turn and a half. Thank you great video.
Good instructions. Be able to use a screwdriver to turn the two L and H screws is very helpful. On mine, I had to close the idling screw all the way (clockwise) and turn the L screw clockwise half a turn to keep the engine idling. After that I followed your instructions. It turns on like a charm. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video. My TB trimmer ran great for the first year, then had to leave the choke on most of the way and throttle it to keep it running for the last 8 years. Finally got to the point I couldn't keep it running. Went through the carb tonight and cleaned out every passage and still couldn't keep it running. Used my Dremel to cut slots, opened up both screws a bit, and runs like new. Thanks again and cheers.
This vid helped me out today. My 2-cycle trimmer is bogging down when I press the throttle lever. And on full speed I don't get the max rpm. So I got the high and low side of carburetor tuned up. Thanks for this vid.
Thanks for the video, this worked on a new weedeater that ran find last year when it was new, however it was hard to get it to run without leaving the choke half on this year until I seen this video and now its back to the way it should run. Thanks again, save me money from having to take it in to the repair shop.
Thank you so much for this video, I bought a new carburetor from eBay and it came with a little tool that I didn't know what it was for kind of looks like a screwdriver but it has a weird end to it. But when I watch this video I realized it was for them two little screws you cut slits in, So I cleaned it and tuned my old carburetor and it works good so thank you so much you saved me from having to put my new carburetor on. I'm definitely subscribing!
You are awesome, I got my Dremel out, cut a slot and adjusted as described. Mine wouldn't idle and died when I used the throttle, after adjusted running better than it ever did even new.
Great video. I was able to fix my weedwacker. I had difficulty grinding a notch like you did and bought a set of carburetor adjustment tools for about $15. Then I used the tools for a chainsaw and leaf blower that needed adjusting. So, it feels like I have 3 new power tools. Thanks.
THANK YOU!! I had a trimmer that would stall if I let it idle and wouldn't run fast enough. I disassembled everything thinking it was the carb or a clogged muffler. I cut the adjustment screws with a dremel and had it running perfectly in 30 seconds.
Always set your High setting on a weedeater or blower etc.. 1st, then the Low setting at idle. Chainsaws you set the Low first & the High setting last. Good Content 👍.
"Cut a slot in them", son of a gun! I knew I needed to adjust the carb, but didn't have the special tool for it, I was ready to throw this thing out tomorrow so I figured I'd screw around with it, if I kill it so be it. I just watched your video... I feel like an idiot. "cut a slot in the screw heads", son of a gun! I didn't have to take them out of the carburetor, I just got the Dremel out and slice right through the housing and adjusted them with a screwdriver. it's working like brand new, thank you sir.
Thank you so much for this video! I've found others that told me that's what I needed to adjust, but none of them explained which was which and that you needed to be in the middle of bogging down between clockwise and counter-clockwise! Now I can use my trimmer without having to "jump" the throttle lower and higher to prevent it from bogging out.
Just did this to my Troy Bilt TB22 which was making me angry because it would only run with the choke between fully closed and half open. I'll never understand why they don't slot those mixture screws. Well she runs Great now, so hopefully I'll get years of service out of it. Great Video BTW!!! Thanks
I was pretty disappointed when I slapped a new carburetor on and gave her a good tune up and she still ran pretty crappy. Thanks for the video, you got her running like new again!
I’ve got a Craftsman weed eater that always ran fine and it started bogging down and even quitting when you give it gas. I didn’t have the adjuster tools (mine is the circle with a flat part) so I ordered those. Only $20 for a set. Ended up tweaking mine a bit and it runs a lot better than it was. I can use it again. I had already took the carb apart and cleaned it out. Diaphragm and gaskets were fine so I didn’t replace them yet. Thanks for this video, I’ll make sure it’s fine tuned now that I know what I’m doing 🤣
This absolutely worked for me. I used a tiny saw to make the cuts across the top of the screws. This machine has been/is so frustrating. Not nearly so much now. Thanks again.
Thanks for putting this together. As luck would have it, I have the exact same model of trimmer. Your advice worked perfectly. After futzing with other things for about 4 hours, all told, I was able to fix it up in under an hour with your advice -- most of which was just cutting the slots in the adjusting knobs (which I probably did the hard way!). Thanks!
Can't believe I'm the first one comment your video. your explanation is insanely helpful to me. My string trimmer stalls when full throttle, adjusting high side screw helps me out. thank you for sharing this !
Just used this method to fix my trimmer. Thank you for this video, as it was perfect advice. My trimmer's set screws were not made for a screwdriver and looked like they needed a special tool to make adjustments. Like you, I made a groove in them so I could use a screwdriver. Thanks again!
Exellent video, thank you. Just the info I was looking for. Part of my job in the Army was small engine repair and maintenance but weed eaters are a breed of there own lol. Just replaced a carb and coil on my remington rustler and wanted to double check. You explained everything to a "T". Well done!
My H2520 would not go full throttle the first time I fired it up this year, which would only be the second season I've had it. I at first thought it was due to hastily using SAE30 motor oil to mix the fuel last year instead of 2-cycle. It ran fine with that, but I figured the higher ash content may have gummed up the filter after sitting all winter, so I planned on buying a new filter and spark plug in hopes of getting it back to normal. Instead, I performed the procedure on this video, using a Dremel tool with cut-off wheel to make the notches, and dare I say it actually runs better than when it was new!
Solid video. Thank you for being informative and explaining things clearly. Some of the information you shared in this video is going to help me get my other 2-cycle equipment running again.
Thanks so much you have the only video that actually makes sense, I did just this and got my machine working perfectly before this I was about to throw the thing in the garbage. Thank You Man!!!!!!!!!!!
These 2 strokes are a complete pain in the butt. I have a FLYMO. Starts revs great. Then it won’t idle, stops and then very difficult, sometime impossible to restart. Leave for a couple of days. Starts/ revs great again ?..
This is my problem and I just put the carb in, I am 99% sure it’s the wacky adjustment you need to adjust the carb properly in that tiny window of time it will run
Floats in the carb get gummed up if you run tank empty and leave it residual oil in fuel dries and gums everything up and you have to clean it or new carb
Hi Have you ever removed those screws completely out and do you know that on the troybilt that those screws are different lengths? Well I need to know which length is the L and which is the H. If you did not notice which one came from where.
I have a Ryobi with similar jets but high speed start lever no instead of choke. Runs great won't even come close to idle dies immediately. I cleaned screen under primer bulb too.
Troy Bilt is for homeowners use. It’s not use for commercial . I always buy commercial equipment it does have problem sometimes. I use 91 octane premium unleaded non ethanol gas for my equipment
You can buy a whole set of carburetor adjustment tools online for around $15 but if you want to cut the grooves here is the video where I did that… ruclips.net/video/vRSRANWAnWY/видео.html
I have a new craftsman 25 CC Weedwhacker that looks similar to yours except mine also has a electric start shaft hole in the casing where you can put your drill on it to start it if you buy the optional drill adapter, anyways I find the motor on these red Craftsmans are sluggish, when you hit the throttle, they’re not very reactive even after you tune them to the perfect spot. My older green craftsman Weedwhacker was a lot more reactive, when I bought the new red one I noticed it immediately, any thoughts?
Thank you! Our Hyper Tough H2500 started bogging down when giving it throttle but idled fine. We thought it was bad gas but after some adjustment on the high side it runs much better now.
Thanks for sharing. Great info. @ 5.28 min of the video, you were adjusting a vertical screw. Was that for throttle movement? which screw was that? Hi/Low initial setting info is great help. What should be the initial setting for the idle screw. Mine is all the way in. Is it ok?
Yes… I was adjusting the idle screw. On a string trimmer you want to adjust it to where the head or string is not turning at idle but almost. There is no particular number of turns for an idle adjustment screw. On a chainsaw you set the idle so that the chain is not turning but almost. Hope that helps
If the problem is a carburetor adjustment your low side screw should fix that. If you have that properly adjusted you may want to look for a clogged fuel filter, cracked fuel line or blockage in your carburetor. Here are a couple videos that may help you... ruclips.net/video/MtggiZf_x-4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/xk49NJK8qns/видео.html Be sure to drain your fuel from your tank at the end of the season and run the engine to drain fuel out of the carburetor when storing or not using for a month or so...otherwise bad fuel will gum up your carburetor
I learned a lot from this, thank you. Of the 4 YT videos I've watched on this issue, you had extra information about the carb settings and the factory setting that I found very valuable. You went the extra mile that differentiated your video from the pack! O:-)
thanks for the great ,easy to understand ,and i feel the correct way to adjust the wacker and blower carbs.the tip on cutting the slots is good, myself i bought the pac man style screwdrivers ,they are better in that they stay on the adjustment screws way better when the engines running.just buy them on eBay,from china they are cheap, only it takes a month to get them.
Some of the new machines don't have clutches. So you will experience direct drive on your string line. I also highly suggest using premium fuel, it will save you starting problems.
Thanks ! really direct info. Have a problem with my hitachi pretty new.Thought It was the adjusmtent screw on a similar place on the carburator but when i got through it was something with a spring and now it stoped starting, What was that for kind of protection for what?
Carbs have three adjustment screws. Idle mixture(low) run mixture(high) and idle speed. Mixture screws nowadays are tamper proof, but easily defeated. They should have left them alone of course.
I have near identical machine (Rover R2650 looks exactly the same) with carby issues. It is a Walbro carby, stamped WT1116 which makes it a WT-1116-1 model. It is not possible to obtain the correct service / rebuild kit here. The Walbro site says to use kit K11-WAT and I've been informed locally to use the K10-WAT. The pump side gaskets and diaphragms in both of these kits only have holes in 2 diagonally opposite corners, however, the WT1116 is fitted with parts that have holes in all 4 corners as it has 2 screws and 2 locating pins. Would you have any experience with this issue? The alternative is to replace the whole carby using a WT-973-1. I'm awaiting a set of mixture screw adjustment tools to see if I can get it to run at high revs. It starts and idles but just bogs and dies as soon as you squeeze the juice on. It will run high revs if I spray fuel into the throat, which suggests to me it is starving for fuel through the carby. Filter is fine, cap is good, new fuel etc, and it is a relatively new machine.
I never comment. But Dude, you videos are excellent. No fluff. Straight to the point. And your camera usage is spot on. Perfectly framed shots. To include great close ups on intricate items. Never shake or off camera shots. Nice job!
Thanks

You really have the talent of how to teach, and convey your message to us students in the you tube classroom. I've watched other video's that just waste the viewers time with miscellaneous stuff that has nothing to do with the actual carb tuning. Thank you for a top shelf tutorial that has helped me and countless others.

Thanks and glad I can help
Better than average video. Straight to the point and good video.
I’m glad you found it helpful.
I took a hacksaw to mine and made those same grooves just like yours and after making the adjustments it works perfectly. Thank you so much for all your help...
Way to go... glad I could help
I watched the video done exactly what he said and it worked perfectly...my craftsman blower and weed eater haven't worked this good in 2yrs...very informative video
I usually tell people to go online and spend $7 for the set of small engine adjustment tools but I can't argue with results, good show. 😁
Saved me from having to replace my Troy-Bilt TB32-EC. The hacksaw trick worked like a charm. Thank you!
glad to hear
I'm so glad I finished this video. Because at the very end, you help me with my problem.
Love your positive attitude and how you teach us in very detailed fashion. Excellent videos.
I appreciate that!
Simple, educational, & well illustrated. I definitely learned something!👍
Glad it was helpful!
After buying replacement carb for my Homelite weed eater, this was the perfect procedure to get it dialed in. Big thanks for sharing this!

The setting to have the instant throttle response was very helpful!
Glad to hear it helped you
I’ve probably thrown out a dozen of weed eaters over the years not realizing that the carburetor needed to be adjusted I’m really glad I figured this out a few years ago.
Thanks a heep for both your videos. I cut my carburator adjustment slot as you showed and can now adjust the mix.
Thanks
Way to go
Thank you so much for taking the time, and explaining everything. I love being able to fix things myself.
Perfectly done instructional video - saved our weedeater - runs better than new now, after your input - many thanks
Great to hear... and glad it helped!

This vid helped me out today. My 2-cycle trimmer is bogging down when I press the throttle lever. And on full speed I don't get the max rpm. So I got the high and low side of carburetor tuned up. Thanks for this vid.
Good to hear
Thanks for the video, this worked on a new weedeater that ran find last year when it was new, however it was hard to get it to run without leaving the choke half on this year until I seen this video and now its back to the way it should run. You are awesome, I got my Dremel out, cut a slot and adjusted as described. Mine wouldn't idle and died when I used the throttle, after adjusted running better than it ever did even new.
I love your idea of cutting the screw to be able to adjust the carb
Thank you. Your video and another similar to it saved me from having to get a new string trimmer, at least for this year.
Keep up the good work.
Glad I could help
Great video. I was able to fix my weedwacker. I had difficulty grinding a notch like you did and bought a set of carburetor adjustment tools for about $15. Then I used the tools for a chainsaw and leaf blower that needed adjusting. So, it feels like I have 3 new power tools. Thanks.
Nice work! ... and glad it helped!
That was a good idea to cut a groove in those fuel adjustment screws makes it easier to adjust
Great idea making grooves in the screws. No need to buy special tools. My Ryobi trimmer is running great now.
Glad to hear it!
THANK YOU!! I had a trimmer that would stall if I let it idle and wouldn't run fast enough. I disassembled everything thinking it was the carb or a clogged muffler.
I cut the adjustment screws with a dremel and had it running perfectly in 30 seconds.
Way to go! Glad it helped.
Always set your High setting on a weedeater or blower etc.. 1st, then the Low setting at idle. Chainsaws you set the Low first & the High setting last. Good Content 👍.
That's right weedeaters adjust high first then low adjust just where it favors high will give the best idle.
Way to go!
Excellent video. Clear and descriptive right down to resetting adjustment at the end when carborator gets all whacked out. Nicely done.
Thanks... glad you found it helpful
Great!
Great work. Wish adjustments were easier without the grooves, but you got me dialed in. Thanks!
Glad it helped!

I can't believe that this was so easy to do. This took me 5 minutes and saved me from having to buy a new weed eater. Thanks!
Glad I could help
Well, that was just excellent. Covered all the points I think. Your trimmer runs great.
Thanks 👍
Can't believe I'm the first one comment your video. your explanation is insanely helpful to me.
My string trimmer stalls when full throttle, adjusting high side screw helps me out.
thank you for sharing this !
Thanks for you comment and glad to hear you were helped
Just used this method to fix my trimmer. Thank you for this video, as it was perfect advice. My trimmer's set screws were not made for a screwdriver and looked like they needed a special tool to make adjustments. Like you, I made a groove in them so I could use a screwdriver. Thanks again!

You ROCK, Brother - It runs better than it ever has!!!
Thank You SO MUCH!!!
Glad to hear
Good vid, I use a wire connector for turning the adjustment screws with needle nose Pliers
Glad to hear that
Thank you, now i know who to adjust my carburetor. Very good video
Glad to help
So much information in a short video. Awesome video. My troy built runs like shit right now. I'll try this.
Finally got my Murray to idle. 1 and a half turns on each screw did the trick.
Solid video. Thank you for being informative and explaining things clearly. Some of the information you shared in this video is going to help me get my other 2-cycle equipment running again.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank YOU!! @6:09 is what I needed to know! You are a GREAT teacher! Thank you!
Thanks
Thanks so much you have the only video that actually makes sense, I did just this and got my machine working perfectly before this I was about to throw the thing in the garbage. Thank You Man!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tips! Got my secondhand bought trimmer running, probably better than new.
Of all the videos out there this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing.
Glad I could help
@@helpinguonline do you turn screws in all the way first I have tried doing this and it's not working I have a 27cc Craftsman
This helped me a lot ,finally got my echo gt2000 running right again. Thank you!!!! 🙏🏽
Thanks for making this video it helped me a ton and now I can take back the cord weedwacker I bought last week.
Well` straight to the point with great illustration , what more may I say apart from Thanks' for great tips
Glad to hear it was a help to you! Thanks for your feedback
Awsome, just what I was looking for and just bought an new carburator for mines. It's very low when I start mines. Thanks for the video.
Troy Bilt is for homeowners use. It’s not use for commercial . I always buy commercial equipment it does have problem sometimes. I use 91 octane premium unleaded non ethanol gas for my equipment
How did you cut the screw grooves? I'm having difficulty finding that video. Thank you!
You can buy a whole set of carburetor adjustment tools online for around $15 but if you want to cut the grooves here is the video where I did that…

Mine uses a Single D carb adjustment tool. Easy enough to find.
Very well illustrated and easy to follow! Thanks a lot!!!
Thx in going to do this. I'll use the drimmel to create the slots.
Fine vid. My ryobi wants to die when I release the throttle. What should I do?
If the problem is a carburetor adjustment your low side screw should fix that. If you have that properly adjusted you may want to look for a clogged fuel filter, cracked fuel line or blockage in your carburetor. Here are a couple videos that may help you...

Be sure to drain your fuel from your tank at the end of the season and run the engine to drain fuel out of the carburetor when storing or not using for a month or so...otherwise bad fuel will gum up your carburetor
Thanks for this video. Was ready to junk the trimmer.
I learned a lot from this, thank you. Of the 4 YT videos I've watched on this issue, you had extra information about the carb settings and the factory setting that I found very valuable. You went the extra mile that differentiated your video from the pack! O:-)
Glad I could help
thanks for the great ,easy to understand ,and i feel the correct way to adjust the wacker and blower carbs.the tip on cutting the slots is good, myself i bought the pac man style screwdrivers ,they are better in that they stay on the adjustment screws way better when the engines running.just buy them on eBay,from china they are cheap, only it takes a month to get them.
Thanks, great clear and concise explanation and "production" of vid. Got my WdEtr running like a top.
Great to hear!
I'll be trying this procedure this weekend. Thanks for the help!
Very helpful, like that it includes what to do if u want to "zero" the adjustment screws.
Thanks, my son got my weed eater working by adjusting those two set screws, it runs like new again.
what do you say when the weedeater is making metal clanking sound?
I work for Home Depot this helped me so much
Best video I've seen so far 👍👍👌
Thanks For your visit
Very helpful! Right on point and easy to understand! Thanks you!
Filter is fine, cap is good, new fuel etc, and it is a relatively new machine.
god I love my dremel! thanks for the vid, runs like a champ again!
Great to hear!
