I think a lot of people will probably agree with me on this that this episode that Samantha Morton and Ryan Hurst performances are both incredible and terrifying at the same time damn both of their acting skills are so good in this episode

One of my favourite backstory episodes especially with the parallel moment with beta falling apart at the end and alpha falling apart in present time and how they came to eachothers aid in that moment of weakness

A “alpha” is the leader. A “beta” is 2nd in command and a “Gamma” is the 3rd in command. That’s why she named her Gamma
Very small detail but that picture on the wall that alpha sees is beta and his friend at a rehab clinic and beta now also wears that smiley face shirt under his jacket
Gamma = pack protector...they make sure the packs territory is safe. It fits since she protected Alpha and she’s a good tracker.

As I mentioned last video, who'd have known that a year on from you watching Dale and Lori etc on the farm, we'd be focusing on a bunch of skin wearing freaks having domestic issues living in the wood? lol. I like this episode a lot, Alpha's breakdown at the end is amazing.
Alpha and beta meeting was approximately around the same time as the culmination of the war between Rick and Negan, there was around a year time jump between season 8 and season 9, and the six year time jump between season 9 episode 5 and season 9 episode 6. Also gamma is the next one in the hierarchy below beta, they use the greek alphabet for the hierarchy
I think it’s right around the time frame that rick and co went to the museum in DC and then followed by Gregory’s execution that night.
One of my favorite episodes this season. I love watching their backstory..one of the most interesting villian groups, i could watch them all day.
Fun fact. Gamma is the little girl in Hocus Pocus.
And that teenager in American Beauty and Ghost World. Actors acting in things. Crazy.

Such an underrated actress. She was a fav. back in the 90's and 00's. It's funny how she looks exactly the same. She only looked a bit different in Ghost World.
I think the whisperers typically recruit loners. You'll notice that the members were survivors that were lost with no direction making them easy for Alpha to manipulate. It's common for cult leaders to find people without direction and then make them believe the leader's path is the only one worth taking. Since the joint communities have an established society they aren't as susceptible to Alpha's manipulation and in turn become a threat because some of the whisperers could leave and join the communities if they believe it's a better way of life.
I really loved this episode! It’s definitely one of my favourite episodes 😄 It’s amazing to see the meeting of Alpha and Beta. I honestly feel sorry for Beta, he was manipulated by Alpha in his vulnerable state which gives an insight of how the Whisperers are just broken people

And what she said to Beta was " Know two things; One, you can kill me but I will not go down easy. And two; You'll have to kill my daughter, because I will NOT leave this world without her."
So what she meant was [ If you succeed in killing me I want you to kill my daughter also. Because I'm a crazy bitch who's motto apparently is "If I can't live neither can she"]

I think when Alpha said that Lydia was dead to her a long time ago, I think she meant it in a sense that Lydia would never be like Alpha so the daughter that she wanted to exist didn’t. Lydia was too “normal” and couldn’t exist in Alpha’s world. (Hope that made sense)

I don’t have much to say about this episode. It’s a really good backstory on how Alpha and Lydia meet Beta, and I really enjoyed it.

Alpha squeezed Frances’ head in that cave as punishment bc she uses punishment as a reminder. Then she hugged her ofc cause she feels her pain.
It's cute how Lacey managed to do the same tone every time she says "Thank you for stopping byyyye ... and watching ... THA Walking Dead with us!" and "Letz ... dew it!" for 10 seasons.
Mentioned it in the past, but beta is Gary from remember the titans, lol I had no idea he was going to keep growing after that movie.

Patrick Gogan well yeah some areas still have gas, as shown on Fear the Walking Dead.
Aaron Montane nope Negan was taken down almost 2 years into the apocalypse. And they’re about 10 years into the apocalypse, so 7 years ago would be closer to the time when Rick was taken, considering there was an 18 month time jump after Negan was taken down.

This episode just goes to show some cracks in the Whisperer's armor --- their leader is essentially a hypocrite who, unbeknownst to them, is essentially telling them, "Do as I say and not as I do." I felt after watching this episode that there was no way their "cult" can last if it's built on a lie, at least not with Alpha as the leader. Great reaction, as always!
I always that hated that phrase. If enough people believe in the lie, it can last.

I loved this origine story about the whisperers. Why we don't have this for Negan and the governor ?
I don't think Alpha manipulate Beta. They find each other in their mindness and they closed each other (both lost everything). It's just with Beta that Alpha can loose her shit and show her weakness (her love/feeling for her daughter) and Alpha is the only one have seen the Beta face.
The point of view is very interesting, this world belong to the deads now, no more the livings so we have to become like them (feel nothing, have fear of nothing...).
The other good thing in this episode that about the walkers. They are again a real danger, a real mortal threat.
I’m sure y’all already know but Gamma is her name!! Don’t think it means anything more than that she’s now in Alphas inner circle where only Beta was so now she has 2

So what was Lydia and alpha doing for the entire apocalypse before the time skip? The seven years later part would be taking place during season 8 so how did they survive for so long alone out there?
Also in season 9 episode 10 it shows alpha handing Lydia a mask in their Baltimore basement camp. I’m confused
I think it’s different points in time. Alpha handing Lydia a mask, the camera angle is slightly taller. So they didn’t adapt to masks until after meeting Beta instead of guts. Maybe just after what happened in the asylum. They were clearly walking with the dead the entire time, seeing camps fall with the herd/horde. It’s amazing how long they survived on their own
@@jessisaac6367 considering how Alpha dosent have any qualms about killing anybody its believable they pretty much just blended with small herds for a long time I'd imagine

Not a bad episode, but not one of my favorites, the beginning, that poor woman, I remember watching it for the first time and everyone including myself was like ewwwwww/yuck and horrific, welcome to the show Thora Birch, she was in hocus pocus, till this day I feel bad for the whisperer who was forced to give up her baby, completely understand her anger for Alpha, and her regret not to have her child, Beta and Alpha are incredible, Ryan and Samantha are fantastic.
