    Last year I learned that if I'm anxious about something and look up a video related to it it helps to calm my nerves just enough to get it done. Something about someone else guiding me through it without being in close physical proximity just makes me a lot calmer. This was especially needed today bc I learned on Thursday last week that I tend to hyperventilate about eye drops (had to get my eyes dilated and my mom had to stand there holding my hand to keep me from full on panicking)

    Hi Michele, sorry if it’s a dumb question, but wouldn’t instilling a drop in the inner corner of the eyes drains quicker since it’s near the drainage. Another question is does blocking the tear duct after instilling PFAT help for dry eyes or it isn’t as useful compare to say glaucoma drops . Thank you very much and thanks for your video 🙏

    • @MicheleLeeMD
      @MicheleLeeMD  2 года назад +4

      These are great questions!
      The drain holes on the corners are very small, and the size of most eyedrops are quite large (50 microliters) so you should get enough medication into your eye even if you instill it in the corners.
      Punctal occlusion is most beneficial for medicated drops where you don't want the medication going into your bloodstream. You can definitely put pressure on the corners after putting in a preservative-free tear and close the eyes for a minute instead of blinking rapidly, which will quickly drain the drop.
      Hope that helps!

    Using the tip you use when putting in eyedrops on yourself, and the 30 second procedure afterward where you close your eyelids and put pressure on the inner corner of each eye to shut off the inner eyelid drainage holes. Smart and helpful, especially when using lubrication drops from the little vials that require a good amount of push to get the drop out of the vial.

Would you clarify on this topic please.

    I use a mirror. lay flat on bed.Hold miror to one side of face so when you look in you can see dropper over the eye and drop one in. This way you are looking away from dropper, and when drop is in it doesn't run down cheek as you are laying flat ( no pillow!) Also you can move head left and right to spread drop .
    Works for me !
