Grew up playing violin and always enjoyed going to see our Cleveland orchestra. Loved the various locations and as always the orchestra sounds brilliant.
So beautiful, thank you so very much for sharing this performance. I was listening to it when the hospital called me to tell me of my mother’s passing (from COVID). Now I am certain the angels delivered her home to God. Thank you.
The audio is a 2018 recording from the Cleveland Orchestra’s home, Severance Hall. It is the building in the backdrop of the last shot. I had the privilege of being in the audience that evening.
Heart: watch this for the sixth time, Brain: But I've watched it five times already, Heart: Okay, finger you know what to do. Finger: The heart wills it; replay!
Who’s been to Cleveland’s gorgeous Severance Hall and seen the ceiling? 👉🏻 “The leaf pattern on the ceiling of Severance Hall is modeled after the lace on Elizabeth Severance’s wedding dress. Her husband, John Severance, dedicated the hall to her after she passed away shortly before its construction.”
Thank you Cleveland and Sunday Morning. I got to see the Utah symphony do Beethoven's 9th symphony. It was absolutely wonderful. I have the CD sitting in my player in my car right now.
Not to be a killjoy ,but....Initially my only objection was in not having a complete performance. But the credits say the performance took place in 2018. Clarification?
The audio was recorded in 2018. In the video the members of the orchestra are playing/singing their parts out in the community at Cleveland landmarks. Then they synced it all together into this spectacular video.
What is there to be joyful about? Lives are on hold, the real economy in shambles, 8 million unemployment claims with no hope for work soon, 30million small businesses shuttered for good. Transportation's 52,000 employees Disney's 28,000 employees given the pink slip, 209,000 dead Americans and growing and millions of school children struggling with getting their courses done while parents are having to figure out how to look for work, or work from home if they still have a job, worried sick their companies will downsize with the contracted economy and they'll be next. All while a sickened president has the mainstream media paying court to him like paparazzi instead of having the cabinet working on solutions in his absence. The Trump show is not over and we are not safe.
We still need to keep joy in our hearts to fuel the courage that we need to get through all the misery you described. If not, we would all just give up. I am sure you do not want that. So I am grateful for any pocket of joy no matter how small. This is coming from someone who's been homeless because of Hurricane Irma, lives on an island that depends on tourism, has one parent with dementia and COVID, the other just had a stroke and a brother who is handicapped as a result of a traumatic brain injury. So this Ode to Joy gave me several minutes of joy in what might appear to be a life of misery. Thank you.

Great song alright.
Pity Hitler used Beethoven's music to drum up hate.
Good to see you are trying to turn it around to peace.
