When I started playing (a long time ago!) the only Ševčík studies I could find here in Cardiff, Wales, was the Op. 1, Part 2, which, to be honest, I found dauntingly difficult. So I'm delighted to find that the Part 1 is available online. These exercises on the G string are great for me because I have a short, thin, weak 'pinky' which now gets plenty of exercise and stretching with these. I don't know about anyone else, but these short (very musical) phrases when repeated take on the feel of the peel of church bells, or a sort of mantra - I can almost feel myself going off into a meditative trance! Thank you, Lora, for your gentle wisdom and guidance. You have a real gift. You're an inspirational teacher. x
Bendigeidfran, you have expressed something that I too experience, but never put it into words as eloquently as you.....it DOES become a meditation, or mantra! I love thinking about it this way! Yes, Sevcik will work wonders for your pinky. And take heart....I played at a masterclass with a very thin violinist...ALL her fingers were thin, no meat whatsoever.....but if you closed your eyes and listened to her, you would swear she had fleshy fingers. For every body type, there is a violinist out there who demonstrates how to overcome obstacles. Thanks for your comment! Good luck!
That's good to hear, Lora. All is not lost, then! Thank you for your encouragement.
pro tip : you can watch series on kaldrostream. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Karter Draven Yea, been watching on kaldrostream for years myself =)

Hi, teacher... have you video for practice Sevcik op. 8? Please....
I'll do it :)
Hi Lora, love your videos! However, there's something confusing about the title right as it starts, it says Sevcik Op 1 Part 1 No 5, but the title of this video says Sevcik Op 8 #4..? Thanks!
Ah dang it. I'll see if I can get that fixed....always a brain fart in the mix somewhere.....!!!!! Thanks.
'brain fart' - great! You're not alone there, Lora. I get those a-plenty!
