Our Indigenous peoples here, in NORTH America, have been here for some 9,000 years!!! Sadly, my peoples were darn near genocide, between 1600 & 1890. Millions of precious peoples! But, we are still here!!! Thankyou for watching!!!!!
Seen your first reaction to Pow Wow and so glad you are watching the “Gathering of Nations” pow wow. Very glad you seen more. I am a First Nations (Canada) dancer and so happy for your participation as a viewer.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your RUclips channel "Amigo Kandu" and your videos of powwows and tribal gatherings. Your dedication to documenting these important cultural events is admirable, and I'm sure many people will benefit from being able to see and learn from your videos.
When I was a girl, Chicago and the American Indian Center we're hosts to the largest Pow-Wow in the Midwest. Tribes from WI, MN, MI IL and other states would gather. It was held at Navy Pier. The Gathering of Nations was held in the Rotunda, overlooking the lake. It was wonderful! At the end, there was an unspoken invitation for the audience to join. Mind blowing!
@@grocker5382 Actually, it was in the 1960s through 1980s. The Native Americans still have a Pow-Wow annually, but it takes place in one of the Cook County Forest Preserves.
Loved this. So many, many people - wonderful to see! I couldn't stop tapping my toes during the whole thing. 😁 I hope I can make it to a powwow before I die. I love the respect our friends show towards them, too. I have no Native American blood myself, but I respect the heck out of them for how they do their best to hold on to their culture.

That was amazing! Thanks for sharing that! By the way, the Native Americans were first called "Indians" (& still many will say American Indian) because the explorers thought that had sailed to India. Oops! 🙂
The Albuquerque Pow Wow was the most spiritual experience of my life. It's an experience to be only a few (whites) among so many natives. It was overwhelming.

Watching Pow Wows have always brought beautiful tears to my eyes. It is always so moving. I wish we could all unite in this way. I love everything you both said because that is how most people feel when they see something this beautiful and powerful.
In some native cultures, it is a sign of high respect when people cover their eyes when the elders step on the dance floor, that way they will not take the energy the elders have in their spirit to pass on to every on there. The dances have spiritual significance and healing energy.
Native Americans have sovereign land inside of America that others can't live on, etc. They only deal with the federal government not any state government as long as they're on their lands. I believe most are matriarchal rather than patriarchal. I've been to so many of these and love out every time. The elders of their communities have so much wisdom to share. I've been on medicine walks and listened to countless stories of history passed down orally for endless generations. I didn't realize there were that many individual tribes in America. Great video!

Can non Native Americans come to the event to watch? I love Powwow's. We tend to be a little private about our beliefs, they can vary from one to another. However, the essence of the spiritual thought process is there. We enter moving left when we begin the dance and a traditionalist knows to begin dancing on the left foot and why. One way to explain would be to say everything we can put a word to belongs on the right. Everything we know is there but can't put a word to is on the left. We use the left to commune with the Creator through dance, drums, and intent. We align with the Energy of the natural world to enhance the "health" of our energy and give back to the natural world the same. This is a connection that is so deep no word can describe.
Loved the pow-wows and the fry bread. As a history geek; the farther back you go, the more similarities we have. (Pagan. No hate here at all.) I found them beautiful and moving. The sense of COMMUNITY is strong.
It is all that is left of the original culture of the north american continent this thought alone makes me sad... so much lost so much forgotten. But still alive and hopefully healthy and growing stronger in the many years to come. All the best and good wishes from germany ❤

I love this. But why are they having this happening inside of a facility and not in nature somewhere ? It would be more empowering to see this happening outside with lights and fire in the dark...or day. Just wondering... For me personaly i dont belong to any tribe or race, i wanted to be free of that and become just a human. Sometimes it gets lonely yes. So sometimes i watch these videos and feel warm inside watching people conect with each other. Beautiful. Respect and love to all.
The American Indian were done wrong by early European settlers. This was their land, they we're here first and we moved onto this country, drove them away from their homelands onto reservations. They took only what they needed from the land and respected everything as a gift from the God's. European settlers took everything without respect, almost driving some species into extinction. We brought new diseases with us that ravaged the Indian population. We poisoned the land with mining and deforestation. It wasn't enough that we stole the Native Indians land but we tried to change them to accept our culture and abandon their traditional ways. What we did to the American Indian was wrong. They had learned to live amongst each other and share the bounty of this land. They took care of their elders. Today we put them into rest homes. The American Indian had it right. We Europeans brought with us change, technology that we called a modern civilized society. Yet, in many ways we are the most uncivilized people in the world. We have no traditions, no respect for our elderly, we destroy all that is around us, we consume but never replenish. We destroy the environment with our chemicals and man-made products and over all, we Europeans have created a society that no longer respects anything or anyone a me-me only society filled with drug addicts, narcissist, etc. I have a small amount of native Indian blood in me on my mothers side and I can truly respect the Native Indian people.
Let’s not pretend the natives didn’t give them reason for that. Many of the removed tribes sided with the English or were being antagonistic. 90% of the natives died to diseases that were first brought by the Spanish. Natives didn’t have any to spread because they hadn’t domesticated animals like the rest of the world meaning they didn’t carry many annal born illnesses. The only one they did carry was syphilis which they got from lamas (one of the few animals they domesticated), syphilis later fucked Europe hard

We invite this You tube page personally to a Gathering Of the Nation PoW WOW,, come to a pow wow your welcome to come 🙏,peace makers 👍😊
Finally, someone with some sense! Yes sir, u hit the nail on the head!
And of course to honor their ancestors and their traditions.
