Hello, Rebecca! Just want to take a moment to say these are North American native peoples, not South American. You would typically find drum circles like this performing at pow wows across North America, particularly in Canada and the U.S. 😊

To Rebecca. Imagine the drum is a heartbeat, it is what everything in the dancing circle is led by. Just as our hearts lead us. The songs are sacred as well. I’m a white man with an adopted full blood native brother, and I’m lucky to be able to call these amazing people my kin by that adoption. To all you native Americans, and First Nations people, I say a humble thank you for letting me live among you and your people.

Just think the Canadian and US gov tried to kill us off and you would not ever seen this beautiful music. Also the beautiful dancing and most of all the Native tradition.
The beat of the drum is the heartbeat of our mothers. It soothes us because we are reminded of that heartbeat while in the womb. That's why it's also hard to pause
I am not native but I used to dance my little cranky baby to sleep with powwow music. She is all grown up now and so different from me but the one thing we share in common is an appreciation of native music. Thanks to all the native mothers !
Hi there!! Thanks for reacting to Young Spirit Pow WOW , these guys are from the First Nation Indigenous tribes of North America. The singers would wait for one of the lead singers to start the singing then the rest of the drum circle singers will join in, followed by some Native American war/battle cries when they are singing. You should react to some more pow wow videos such as The Men’s Northern traditional dance and the United Pueblo Buffalo dance as a dedication tribute dance to the Water Protectors that protested against the Dakota Access PipeLine back in 2016 from Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque,New Mexico.

Blackfeet here, our music always makes me so emotional. Happy songs, sad songs, funny songs, etc. no matter what it is they just speak to the soul💖 my son just turned 7, and he's just getting an appreciation for our music, he understanding and now wants to dance, but we're not part of any officially recognized "tribe", cuz we're not "qualified". But I'd love to find the closest pow wow to go to, so we can still feel our roots, we both thirst for our heritage and it's so apparent! If anyone has any resources or connections I'd be forever grateful! -Sending love from the Mojave desert in So Cal!💖
I remember growing up in high school, all of us no matter what grade we used to get together and fill the valley with this singing at night outside. I miss those days. We were a community, the kids did it for fun. It was on the Navajo Reservation. It’s in native language and you just know the song or beat from the heart. You just know the song, I don’t know how to explain it 😅
Native American drumming and singing hits you right in the soul and makes you want to move in ways you wouldn't otherwise. It's a deeply spiritual experience.
You need to attend grand entry at gathering of nations (or any pow wow) at least once in your life. Hearing the bells and jingles from our regalia on beat with the singing is so beyond beautiful. ♥️
I love your reaction! Especially when you said you felt the need to run around the room, our powwow music is meant to have us wanting to dance. Much respect to you!
As a singer in the powwows.. as we all say “one beat one voice” a lot of these songs are prayers for our people and we sing for the ones who can’t sing and dance for the ones that can’t dance. And we do have a lot of healing songs as well. But the drum is the heart beat to our people..
My first video of Pow Wows was exactly this one, and then Manito Abe. I don't understand a word they are singing becouse I am from South Africa.I am mixed race dad was white and my mom is black. I have learned the words and sing along with Young Spirit. I love the culture the traditions of your peaple. I also get sad when I read about how the native people of the US have been treated by the the government. It's the same almost ouver the whole world from Australia to Africa and beyond. Your drums awake something.
I'm from Muscowpetung, Sask. I'm in my sixties and have been in Detroit since '02, but I grew up listening and dancing to pow wow music. I love the power of the male and female singers. When I hear the women singing it reminds me of my kokum Amelia who would dance at pow wows and then stop at the drum and sing back up. Powerful and makes me homesick and lonely.
One thing may have missed is how much the women serve these songs. Being a” back up singer” in native culture is just as important as a drummer. They balance out the song.
Young Spirit one of the Greatest Native American Singing groups ever. Edit: glad to see people can appreciate our music. Can't believe it has been 10 years since they performed this song. Kudos to Jacob and the Boys
I simply love powwow music, to me it’s comforting and I love knowing my culture. I am a southern cloth dancer from the Alabama Coushatta tribe in Texas. I love that people can learn more about our culture.
Good song! Cool to see someone react to our music like this, it’s all about energy, the feeling u get, there’s a lot of good groups out there different styles, languages/songs to react to. There’s another style of Native American singing called round dance or hand drum singing. Maybe u can check that out too when you get a chance. If u liked this then u would for sure like that as well. I’ll recommend Arnold Alexis of the Logan Alexis Singers🙌🏾
Pinching helps control in a sense. You see male singers do this in many groups. If they allow a full flow, it hurts. And really, if these performers have a bit of trouble singing a ‘normal’ song. Not to say they will be bad at it. It’s just their voices are set for this setting.
Its a whole experience when you stand next to the drum. The power of the singing and stroke of the down beats of each chorus literally shakes your heart. Love being indigenous

We were a community, the kids did it for fun. It was on the Navajo Reservation. It’s in native language and you just know the song or beat from the heart. You just know the song, I don’t know how to explain it 😅
If you're there in person...... you feel that drum in your soul. It vibrates your entire body.
Native American drumming and singing hits you right in the soul and makes you want to move in ways you wouldn't otherwise. It's a deeply spiritual experience.
It's beautiful the foot dancing and the jingle dress dance .
Such an incredible performance! A gift from Young Spirit to anyone who listens.
Thanks for bringing Indigenous music to a wider audience.
Should give Cozads Champion Song a look, very powerful song
I’m not sure this lady is ready for Cozad…lol!…gotta build up for that, lol
Oh yeah!! Cozad Champion Song Is A Jammer!! Just like MNX Live At Black Hills 2019
Poundmakers tribute song to Deverne is amazing to
@@numnumm6836 that’s an advanced class, hang on there..lol! But I gotta agree with you
You need to attend grand entry at gathering of nations (or any pow wow) at least once in your life. Hearing the bells and jingles from our regalia on beat with the singing is so beyond beautiful. ♥️
My tribe is host to the potawatomi gathering of the nations this weekend..I'm too excited to see a pow pow on a much larger scale than I'm used to...
Most people don't realize that Native American music is not only very diverse, but most styles of singing are more complex then Opera.
I love your reaction! Especially when you said you felt the need to run around the room, our powwow music is meant to have us wanting to dance. Much respect to you!
You need to hear some Fawn Wood next. She’s an amazing Native singer as well.
As a singer in the powwows.. as we all say “one beat one voice” a lot of these songs are prayers for our people and we sing for the ones who can’t sing and dance for the ones that can’t dance. And we do have a lot of healing songs as well. But the drum is the heart beat to our people..
I’ve studied this culture and it’s music for 30 years it’s a amazing culture and the music is medicine!
Oh you mentioned one person! That’s the goal to sound as one.
Us, Native Americans are from North America and I appreciate your time looking into of our music and culture. Stay blessed and positive.
Right but remember dude before the Europeans came their were no borders
And Natives were nomadic peoples.
Tiktok brought me here wanted to see the whole thing.
3:28-3:39 wanted to see this reaction.
YOUNG SPIRIT!
I love the way you felt it in your soul and couldn't explain it. Did you get chills? You should have. ❤️
Kudos for playing this video native American singing and drumming is Awesome!
I’m crying. You need to see and feel this in person. It’s life changing.
One thing may have missed is how much the women serve these songs. Being a” back up singer” in native culture is just as important as a drummer. They balance out the song.
Please do more! Love your reaction, it's the same as most when they here our music. It's will grab you!!
Never be afraid to dance!! the drum, the singing is for the people everyone dances their own style
Love the reaction. Revitalization of our culture is still new within the last 20-30 years. Thank you for sharing.
I love watching peoples reactions to powwow music for the first time!
Pinching helps control in a sense. You see male singers do this in many groups. If they allow a full flow, it hurts. And really, if these performers have a bit of trouble singing a ‘normal’ song. Not to say they will be bad at it. It’s just their voices are set for this setting.
Should also add, I come from a more traditional background. Navajo.
Its a whole experience when you stand next to the drum. The power of the singing and stroke of the down beats of each chorus literally shakes your heart. Love being indigenous
