Nah it actually wasn’t a letter, he said in an interview it was an exercise during his therapy sessions where his therapist would put a chair in front of him and told him to imagine his younger self sitting across from him and to say what he would say to himself as a kid. That’s why when he performs the song he performs it sitting on a chair facing an empty chair to represent the real lived experience of the therapy exercise and speaking to his inner child
Wow , i have never been a fan of therapist , I always disliked them because I always told myself “what do they know , they don’t know how feel or felt , they weren’t there thru my traumas “ I always pictured therapist to be people who come from great successful families and grew up with all the love and support and affection, and I guess I have always been envious of them. But listening to you WOW! I love how you get things you are amazing and are right on point about everything, I have found myself writing down quotes of yours from NF REACTIONS, which is the only reactions I watch as a 41 year old man , NF is something else and I love your reactions to him and they way you dissect him is awesome , thank you
Just as many people who go into oncology are those who survived cancer as children, many of those who go into therapy are those who had therapy as youths or young adults. Whether that is a good thing depends a lot on whether they actually addressed their issues and how well they observed the process in themselves. NF would probably make a good therapist because he is a good self-observer, but really his current ministry is much more important.
I've always had very bad experiences with therapist's they always seemed to try to manipulate me, I grew up in group homes so all the therapists I saw were state funded distant "know it all's" who were just condescending dicks overall. As an adult tho I've learned that private practice therapists are generally the way to go especially the ones that don't charge an arm and a leg, as they seem to be much more involved in your actual well-being.
I read a comment on this song once that mentioned that the lyric where he tells his younger self, "I'll be here for you if you need somwone to listen" can also show that he survives the trauma. He doesn't give in to suicide. He grows up and doesn't give up. I thought that was super cool.
Wow, your reaction to NF's 'Nate' was amazing! Your insight n emotion really brought the video to life n u look absolutely stunning in that outfit . It complements your natural beauty so perfectly. I've been waiting for your reaction, n it was worth the wait. U have an incredible sense of style n a beautiful heart keep shining bright! ❤🌹
Such a great reaction. This is one of the most personal and honest songs I have ever heard. I've listened to this song hundreds of times and I can feel the tears about to flow every time. Just a profound and incredible song.
Also I can’t wait for you to react to *I miss the days* for me it’s by far one of Nate’s overall best and relatable songs he’s even written. It def leaves you feeling nostalgic but I have a feeling you’ll love it! just a thought🤷🏼
I can relate with this song so much and I suffer with abandonment, not trusting people and afraid of people leaving and doing it again and everything else
From Micro: @Paul_TheOutcast Being abandoned by someone you love definitely leaves a unique type of wound on your heart. When you love and trust someone, the thought of them stepping away from you is just not something you want to consider. When it happens, it's usually such a shock and brutal heartbreak. Being left alone, with no possibility to keep on sharing life with them, can make you start wondering if they left because of you, or if because they didn't love you enough. It's hard to be confronted to these types of thoughts, questions, doubts, and it makes sense that this experience has forged a fear in you, a fear of the same scenario repeating itself if you were to trust someone again. For giving trust is taking a risk - on one side the risk of being beautifully loved in return, but on the other side the risk of being hurt and disappointed. It's understandable to suffer with abandonment if that has been a part of your story already. You carry the memory of what happened, you know how much it hurts, and you don't want to feel it all over again with someone else. There are wounds that are so deep that it feels like even just a slight event could reopen it even deeper. With those fears, and in light of your story especially, it's okay to take the time you need to trust others with yourself. You've felt hurt and betrayed, and it will certainly take time to overcome those fears little by little, by experimenting strong and healthy relationships with others. You are aware of those fears, you are able to name it and you know why it's there - which is already a huge strength, and a first step towards healing those wounds, at your own pace. -Marie-Anne, Heartsupport Staff
@HeartSupport yeah exactly and I've been wondering if it's me all this time and trusting people is my biggest issue even though I'm trying to solve after recent events with people that I've cut out of my life. I have no show people that they can't take me for granted and walk over me after the majority of my life that's what people have done
Us NF Outcasts / fans are as excited as you are when you get to react to another of NF's realmusic tracks. Thanks for sharing the excitement, the message, and the impact! 🔥🖤🤍
Let Me Go next plsssss it's such a good song (talking to/about his balloons controlling him, the balloons echo in the background at parts of the song). It's rly depressing but gives you a good idea of what went on in his mind before he let go of his balloons and shopping cart in hope! Edit: OR DO JUST LIKE YOU!!! It helped me so much and it would be so nice if you could do that one too
Was litterly about to suggest this song but I was like well first I needa make sure if she did or didn’t post a vid on it, pretty cool that this was posted 4 weeks ago love ur content I first watched ur vids the day before yesterday
I heard somewhere that this song was a result of his therapist telling him write a letter to his younger self as homework for his actual therapy and what a great outcome, so good!
i thought i was ready to listen to this song but here i sit, wiping the tears away one of the things they say in alcoholics anonymous is that your story is your own but you'll see glimpses of you own story in the story of everyone else in the program, and it's true we can be pretty damaged and jaded emotionally, but they point that fact out to us to let us know that it's our story we're living, but we're not alone every person in those rooms has lived a portion of your life and it goes back to being witnessed to being heard to knowing someone else knows what you went through to know someone else knows what you're feeling, and what you felt
I have listened to (almost) every song of his except 2. How Could You Leave Us & Mama. Mine was killed in a car accident on Mother’s Day back in 2007. It’s still too painful.
Love your heartfelt reactions to Nate and the contagious enthusiasm during each song. I think it's poignant that instead of trying to avoid the trauma and hardships that he knows is coming, like most stories revolving around "time travel," he's simply wanting to supply a level of preparedness and wisdom to his younger self, so that just maybe (just maybe) he won't take things quite as hard as he did in his original reality. The question I ponder is this, With this seemingly small level of foreshadowing, he still can't be sure whether his "self heads-up" will have the desired effect or completely derail where he ends up. Will the rest of his decisions be subject to " the butterfly effect?" Hmmm?
Ok not even gonna lie.. normally when it comes to nf reactions I’m ALL UP IN the comment sections spammin andnb fan girling Nate trivia but not this time- me trying to explain my perception of his lyrics and human emotions would literally be like preaching to choir lol so instead I’m going to fan girl over YOU and how mf cool you are! Ugh we would sooo become bffs if we met I just know it. When you pop up on my recommends I never hesitate to click bc I KNOW I’m going to enjoy it! So glad you stumbled upon NF and I stumbled upon you stumbling upon NF. Ok I’m done with this cringe comment! To you and all my fellow NFers out there- have a great weekend and yall *keep it real* 🖤
Hey I saw your NF video’s and I think you should do a react from start to finnish of all his albums. It is a journey i really enjoy, it has many references in them that i think are important to understand
Always enjoy the NF reactions. Edit: Would love to hear a reaction to Falling In Reverse's cover of Last Resort by Papa Roach. It is a very emotional take on it, rather than the original "hype". You really get to embrace the lyrics.
I see everyone saying to react to "Hate Myself" which is super emotional (so it would make sense considering your content), but I recommend "That's a joke" by NF as it has lines with deep meaning but its also just insanely epic and fast.
There's a song from a melodic death metal/ band that I think would be great to hear your interpretation of it. The band is Fleshgod Apocalypse & the song is The Forsaking, it's a mixture of death metal with classical music, along with a ballet performance for the music video. Along with the lyrics the whole package is heart wrenching.
Nf - let you down please. Wait for the last second of the video. Changes the whole meaning. I've been thinking about it since I saw the video and I can't figure it out
I feel like we all need to right songs, or poems - about everything we went thru as kids. that would probably help alot of people XD. revisit the traumas, revisit your actions.
I find cycling helps me alot, kayaking, motorcycles, anything that kinda gives you that freedom feeling exercise, me being hyper and having trouble sleeping it really seems to help, I dont take any meds for ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, find a group to do those things with make friends, I'm shy so I have trouble meeting people.
I bet the therapist we are listening to now is a cyclist commuting around that city, which looks like Chicago or New York, idk if she ever mentioned her name in a reaction.
I understand you’re sympathetic… I understand you’ll are sympathetic. Being alone in this adult life is fucking scary. He’s giving the gift to more than just himself
I've always thought there was something fundamentally wrong with me because I've always had unbearable struggles trying to function and navigate life in a "normal" way. Figured out in my mid-late 30s that I'm autistic and bipolar. Now the ways I'm different make sense and I'm learning that I'm not broken or malformed, just a bit different and that's okay.
New to the channel, like what you are doing, this is a life changing channel. Long time fan of NF, have an artist you might like - he goes by the name PROBLEMATIC. He did a song called ANGEL vs DEMON, it has several parts. Start with the 1st one, the video shows him facing himself. Then maybe react to the other parts 🙂
Nate got the idea for this song from a therapy session. The therapist had him write a letter to his younger self
Nah it actually wasn’t a letter, he said in an interview it was an exercise during his therapy sessions where his therapist would put a chair in front of him and told him to imagine his younger self sitting across from him and to say what he would say to himself as a kid. SO happy you finally did this song, can't wait for more. You'll love Hate Myself, Only, and Running.
Running must be the very last reaction!!!
running is so good
I agree with everyone else saying to do Hate myself next. Make sure to do the interlude before/with it.
yes please👏👏👏👏👏👏

Love the NF content, ready for the next!
Definitely my favorite NF song. Hits home. Good reaction. Thanks
I read a comment on this song once that mentioned that the lyric where he tells his younger self, "I'll be here for you if you need somwone to listen" can also show that he survives the trauma. He doesn't give in to suicide. He grows up and doesn't give up. I thought that was super cool.
This song is my absolute favourite of NF, it's just soooo powerful
When he said “skip to track number 4 that’s a really said one” he did mean ‘how could you leave us’ but also on hope he put ‘mama’ on number 4 as well
The Search is one of the deepest albums of all time I reckon. Definitely hits hard.
I have 3 I think you’d like! “MAMA” “WHY” and “RUNNING”
you would love love love his song, Remember this
Wow, your reaction to NF's 'Nate' was amazing! Your insight n emotion really brought the video to life n u look absolutely stunning in that outfit . It complements your natural beauty so perfectly. Thank you so much for reacting to this. It’s a beautiful song. Incredibly well-written. One of NF’s best songs.
At the concert, old home movies are playing on the big screen. You can hear Happy birthday dear Nathan in the backround.
NF Pittsburgh?
Also I love her reactions to the lyrics! thats how us fans react every time - its every other bar, that could be quoted and remembered forever.
The first time I heard this song encouraged me to write myself a letter to my 6yr old self. So therapeutic.
Taylor, you're a gift. Thank you for all you do!
P.S. super random side note: those nails are therapy.
Love this song! Great reaction! I’d try to go through all the songs in order! Amazing story.

Also I can’t wait for you to react to *I miss the days* for me it’s by far one of Nate’s overall best and relatable songs he’s even written. It def leaves you feeling nostalgic but I have a feeling you’ll love it! just a thought🤷🏼
Motto, When I grow up.. 2 of my favorites.
I can relate with this song so much and I suffer with abandonment, not trusting people and afraid of people leaving and doing it again and everything else

Hate Myself or Mistake should be next. Both are extremely phenomenal

Note pad and my stress are two of my favorites!
Still my favorite NF song, I relate, I don't know why, but I do.
We need a reaction for “my stress” and “hate my self”
The best 🖤🖤
I have listened to (almost) every song of his except 2. How Could You Leave Us & Mama. Mine was killed in a car accident on Mother’s Day back in 2007. It’s still too painful.

You need to react to Running By NF
I've always thought there was something fundamentally wrong with me because I've always had unbearable struggles trying to function and navigate life in a "normal" way. Figured out in my mid-late 30s that I'm autistic and bipolar. Now the ways I'm different make sense and I'm learning that I'm not broken or malformed, just a bit different and that's okay.
You should check out Chaotic and Paralyzed by Memphis May Fire. And then dive into there music. Also check out Confessions of a Traitor
