      I have tried every tip that you've ever given on this subject. The problem that I'm having is in an approximately 2 inch section of hair, on both sides, that frame my face. So, those areas right in front. I'm assuming they are straighter because of putting it behind my ears, maybe oils on my face and oils behind ears. I don't put those pieces behind my ears anymore, but, they still get pushed back everytime I wear my sleep bonnet. Those 2 small sections on both sides are a very loose wave and the entire rest of my hair is tight banana curls and , 3c corkscrew curls. So, those straighter pieces look weird. I don't know how to fix it because I need the bonnet every night.

Also, for those of us who lack basic hair know-how, please show us how to find our natural curl pattern. Do I start with the spiral I see at root or at end? Thanks for all your videos! It's interesting to see the difference that diffusing makes for you with type 3 hair. Diffusing makes a huge difference for me and so does damp styling. Most curlies seem to advocate for styling soaking wet though, it seems like. I do like the chunky curl clumps look sometimes, but I get bouncier, tighter results and my hair dries faster if I go with smaller clumps.

    I just tried using a 7 row denman brush for the first time last night on my freshly washed 3a fine low and medium porosity curls, and I got really weird, really bad results. The denman (along with diffusing) made my shorter layers shrink way too much, but not my longer layers. My curls were also very thin, not clumpy. The first 3-4 inches of my hair was smooth and straight with no volume. My curls look defined because of the cast, but I wouldn't dare go out in public hah! I plan to take out 3 of the rows and will give the denman brush 1 more chance, but all-in-all it's too much work lol. I find it way easier to just hand scrunch upside even if it means i get a little frizz and less definition. And hey, maybe i'll still use the denman (or get the behairful brush) to smooth my hair after putting in the weightless air dream cream so i can tame some of the frizz before scrunching in my Curlsmith gel.

    I have TONS of the Briogeo masks. I have not tried them yet so I am now so excited I love nothing more than a super thick conditioner and I agree with everything you are saying I grew my hair out and it's super long my hair is so much less curly than it has been my entire life my new favorite conditioner is by hempz and it's the for damaged and color treated hair it's so thick and smells so yummy. I got it from TJ Maxx so I was very surprised because I am extremely picky I'm extremely picky when it comes to products I do not like to shampoo my hair but when I do once a week or so it's always a clarifying shampoo. Because I do use hair oil gel and spray everyday

    Thanks for all that great information. That plop diffusing method sounds interesting, I may try that next time. I've been struggling with my hair since I let all the grey grow out, it just doesn't behave the same as it used to.
    I will say that I was surprised to hear you say that cutting your hair could make it less curly, as I always thought I had better curls when my hair was short. Though I did notice some great curl patterns when I've had less frequent haircuts the last two years, it's just a lot more work to take care of it. If you have some tips for making long curly hair care easier, I'd leave to hear them.
    Thanks again!

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 года назад +2

      It mostly depends on where your curls naturally begin. If you have a looser curl pattern at the top or straight roots, cutting shorter will remove the ringlets. However if you have curls from the root, getting a haircut can definitely help spring the curls up more!

    I love your videos! They’re so informative. I’ve been struggling with my curls the last two months. I have fine textured 3A curls, and I’ve had a set basic routine that has worked for me for two years. Recently though my curls aren’t holding up and they’re frizzier. My hair also feels very dry even when it’s fully wet in the shower. I don’t know what’s wrong. I tried the protein/moisture strand test but some pieces break immediately while others stretch normally. Olaplex hasn’t helped and neither have deep conditioning treatments - these have both made my hair feel better but it hasn’t changed how they hold up when they’re dry. Any insight would be so helpful!

    HEY, I'm new to this channel and I NEED YOUR HELP ASAP. So, when my hair was longer, almost going down my back, it was curly. Whenever I straightened them for events and then washed them, they went back to their original curl pattern, which was coiled and really pretty. So, I kinda bleached four strands of my hair to get some highlights but my hair became weak, too weak that it started falling off rapidly in the weeks following. I was using my curl shampoo and enhancing gel so my hair was still really curly. I went to the salon to cut my hair and get curtain bangs, and they're medium-length now, neither short nor long. Since I ran outta the products that I used for my curls, I started using shampoo for straight hair and my hair became wavy. Now, I'm not dealing with hair fall at all. I'm taking care of my hair and using oils everyday. Today, I've ordered the same products that I used on my curly hair and am kinda excited. My hair is wavy atm but it's a weird kinda wavy because I have some limp curls in between. SO, WILL I GET MY CURLS BACK? When I wash my hair now, it is neither straight nor curly. There is no curl pattern but there are some waves in my wet hair that look kinda curly. When I get the products, I'll use them and let you know.
    And also, when I hit puberty, my hair became curly. So I think I have the curly hair dna for sure. But really, will I get the curly hair back? I'll have to use the products anyway. I think I'll get them back because my hair is wavy-curly kinda thing. There is no full dna strand kinda curl in my hair atm, but I had them before I got my hair cut and when I used the right products for my hair.
    Sorry for writing such a long comment, but I need answers ASAP. I loved my curls.

    And there´s no shampoo that can help with hard water but can be used regularly (with surfactants instead of sulfates)? or is a surfactant shampoo with apple cider vinegar rinse enough? Really only with Edta and... 3:20 ?So these ingrediets are harsh as sulfates right? Oh no..this means i have to dry out my scalp, and then it gets even more oily. That why i refused to do final washed/ washes with clarifying shampoo (therefor i don´t use products which cause build up). Or aren´t they harsh as sulfates (the edta surfactants...) and could be used daily?

      I have heard people saying that you don't have to shampoo first, but, if your hair is full of product, how is the bond salve supposed to soak in? Right? I did a clarifying shampoo first, then the bond salve, then a deep conditioner for 30 minutes!!! You definitely have to do the deep conditioner. And, you can just use a regular shampoo or co wash before the bond treatment, as well. But, supposedly you don't have to wash it first. @@aygu80 It shouldn't. Usually conditioner is put on the ends of the hair and not the roots. Unless specifically formulated (like curlsmith postbiotic conditioner) conditioner is not meant for the scalp

      I think (my case anyway) it is from the naturally shedded hair being stuck in product (I use gel). When I only wash twice a week, there is all that naturally shedded hair that’s been stuck to the rest of my hair, that finally comes out, and it looks like you’re losing a lot of hair at once.
