Hi, I think seven digit serial numbers starting with 10 would be made in India. It would feature one volume, one tone, two humbuckers with black Jackson cover. Is that it?
To further complicate things some models were never pictured in catalogs, only listed typed. I had a 09/10 mij pro series ke3 in trans green and searching through those catalogs trans green was only listed in the color options along with other colors and features that weren't pictured
Thanks for this info, I'm trying to find out info on a guitar I believe is a late 90s/early 2000s JS20. I joined the JCFonline forum but can't seem to figure out how to post lol, hopefully I can figure that out soon so I can identify the guitar.
Just pulled my 97 Jackson out earlier this morning to clean it up, whether it's 22 years old, or 28 years old, I don't care! Japan made Jacksons were built different, the neck on this one beats most of my other guitars even to this day, look after a good guitar and it'll last forever :)
I have somewhat of a gem (I think?). It’s a MIJ SLSMG. Apparently they only made 100 of them, in each color. Trans Red & Trans Black. I have a black one. I’ve had it for around 15 years. Got a crazy good deal on it. My old bass player pawned it & couldn’t get it out. So I did. He never tried to get it back. So I got it for $162.00 serial number is: 013998 It’s beautiful. Plays great. Didn’t care for the EMH-HZ pups, so I put in Seymour Duncan’s that I had lying around. A pearly gates in the neck & Dimebucker in the bridge. It was made in ‘03 (as indicated by serial number) I was gonna sell it on reverb, till I realized that it was a limited edition MIJ model. Outstanding guitar. I feel kinda lucky to have it. Especially for that price lol
@@AleArzMusic Damn, I hoped you'd know based on the video. 😄 The ad said it was made in early 2000's. Bought it straight from Japan from a Japanese seller. Maybe I'll try to ask them if they can help. It's overall in a pretty good condition/not played much but - the price (not that expensive) would indicate it's an older guitar + the bridge (Schaller) has that old time stamp "licensed under Floyd Rose" (I don't know which year they stopped requiring this to be stamped on licensed bridges, do you?). We just acquired a Japanese student but I can hardly just jump them and demand their help. 🤣
@@AleArzMusic A friend found a lefty black SL-J2 in a 2005 catalog with SD pickups and a Schaller bridge (these fit) but can't be sure it's the first time it was there (couldn't find 2003 and older catalogs). Tbh, I'm still quite a newbie in the guitar world but I try to make educated choices and hope for the best. 😄And yeah, it looks like it's pretty good, at least so far. 😆
To my experience, every Jackson Stars guitar I tried was very good, like literally no difference between them and a USA SELECT series one, except for the quality of the materials used. So, all in all, Jackson Stars guitars are some of the best used guitars you can find
Hi! I have a hardtail RR neck-thru guitar bought via Reverb from some guy in Spain. It's somehow hard to identify. Overall finish feels extremaly good in my hands. I contacted Fender to help with identification. After couple of emails with them the final response is: "It is likely your model is a Jackson RR1T which was from the late 90s/2000s" - can anybody here help with confirming of this? That would be AWESOME if that is true.

hi mate, i have even worse news for me maybe :), i found one it has a 6 digit serial and it is even more strange, because it starts with a 7, 702736 is the serial, online checker says that this is a 97 made in japan, but i could not find this guitar in 1997 catalog. it is completely white strat it says jackson professional and it has only one humbecker and one knob. is this japan made or not ?
@@knickerbockers2010 never actually seen a production model like the one you're talking about, maybe a custom shop, but that would have all kind of clues
There was a site, very well done to be honest, that had a flaw: an infamous serial number decoder that used to give wrong results. It seems it had vanished.

That's because MIJ Jacksons don't follow serial numbers, regarding their date of production. Serial number decoders quite often fail. The only way is to unscrew the neck and look inside the neck pocket for the factory stamps. I've made several videos you might find useful for this purpose.

How about models made for Japan market (Jackson Stars)? Just got one. 6 numbers on the fretboard, starting with 01, nothing on the headstock.

Date stamped behind the headstock
