I really like this jam you wrote, it wasn't ridiculously fast, brought out great musical content and feeling. Very good listening too ! Rock On Baldy !
Like many of your viewers, I bought into Jackson years ago. My entry is 2 levels above yours; you got the JS11, and Jackson has the JS12s positioned between the two. I got the JS22 because it was the least expensive way to Jackson's Speed Neck! Killer stuff!
I got the JS22 for it's comfy shape and oh man when I first picked a wall model up at Guitar center it meled into me and this was a few months ago as my first real guitar after seeing dozens of videos on the subject and finding the JS22 just by searching for cheap guitars over a few weeks... I couldn't afford more at the time but I didn't want nore need more... I also tried a squir and an Ibnaz and both felt like bricks in comparson... Also I lucked out with the Jackson having a perfect factory set up out of the box and it sounds ver mid and balanced which is just nice for any beginner to see what they like... So yeah and I been using it off and on ever since like Jackson is an extremely undrrated(Mostly unkown though) brand.
This Jackson JS11 Dinky model is ridiculously good. I gave my son one for his birthday two years ago. This is exactly the guitar that I always recommend to every beginner when asked. I still own an old model with a rosewood fingerboard, which I converted into a one pickup metal machine. I also removed the tone knob, installed a surface-mounted Floyd Rose, removed the fretboard dots, and added glow in the dark side markers. I also installed a Seymour Duncan JB; it is one of my all-time favorite guitars and turned out so well that I put on the primer, then assembled it to test it and never took it apart again to paint it, so it still needs a paint job.
Dude that second solo with the harmonies was Fire ! Especially how you kinda slinked into the beginning of it that’s the stuff I like,sleazy,80s, slink .
Nice! I bought a set of bellcat humbuckers pickups. When I took the covers off, they said jackson! 😮 crazy! Bellcat must make jackson pickups! 😊Thanks Shredder 🤘
Great jam Richard! I love my Jackson JS-22. My wife and daughter asked me what I wanted for Father's Day. I didn't want to ask for anything expensive, so I asked for the JS-22. It is awesome to finally be able to afford these after years of wishing I could...lol. Rock on Shredder!
Great review yes the frets are sharp myjs22 natural oil finish had saw tooth frets lol(filed to comfort)bought this one for my nephew and he loves it. Your channel is most helpful keep up the great job
this has become one of my favorite guitar channels. even my 5 yo daughter asks me to put you on whenever she sees me watching youtube, she thinks youre funny.
Glad u reviewed this i have 2 JS11s as well as a 22, such a good value for someone like me who is a hobby player at best, fast playing neck and the pickups sound pretty good
What differences are you noticing between the Js11 12 radius neck and the Js22 compound radius? Thickness, flatness, bulkiness, wideness, feel etc. This is the only aspect missing from all these reviews. Anyway you can verbally describe the feel of the Js11 neck and compare it with the Js22?
@joelpoitras6226 To me they feel very similar if anything the Js22 might be slightly thicker if the binding adds any over all radius to it, both are very fast necks and comfortable
just like I thought, you are TRUE LYNCH mobster...now I can see you channel on your channel,....George would be proud . Keep it up your guitar playing is a pleasure to listen to.Not to mention a great influence to try your shredmister ways Ha! keep it up!
I'm getting one of these. I'm going to put a set of inexpensive locking tuners and a trem stopper on it for tuning stability. I have a Monarkh with the same neck and pickups and can say this guitar will rock!
My wife got me a Jackson js32 dinky for our first Christmas together. Great guitar, plays great. I still play it today, I use it when I need an alternate tunings because I have 2 Floyd guitars and a 7 string besides the Jackson so if I need drop d or c, or anything down tuned that's the guitar I use.
I was heading to work this morning and turned on my headset and heard this really cool and awesome jam. “What the hell station am I listening to?” I wondered. This was not the standard crap I hear every day. This was kind of hairy and at first I wasn’t sure if I like it or not. But the longer I listened, the more I liked it. By the time it finished I was anxious to check my phone and see what kind of rock star plays such bad assed music in the light of day. It was YOU!!! Playing this jam at the beginning of this video. I gotta tell ya buddy…you knocked this out of the park! Very fresh!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉sir i love your sound and the Jackson JS11 i got mine for $130,1 the JS 12 JS22,JS24,JS32,JS34Q,and love them all Dinky Strat models still in my studio. 6 Charvelles reverse head stock made by Jackson. All are Strat style like your black one🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉cheers❤❤❤❤❤
"More black" caught the "Spinal Tap" reference. Good review and sounds like a good guitar to buy although I think my wife will kill me if I buy another guitar!
I been playing since 1966 , I'm 6'4" now . And I'm the guy who bought the last one on the site you said to go to.. I must say it is all you said. It fits the hands well. The price is a bargain. Thanks I thought I was done buying guitars, but this one had too much good stuff.
Yo Mr shredder! I’m proud to be #5 on the comments! I thought your most excellent music sounded more like Dave mustaine than George lynch but what the heck do I know??? Another great video!
I have a JS-11 that I upgraded with locking tuners and a tusq xl nut, blocked off the bridge and upgraded the pickups to Seymour Duncan JB and 59 in the neck and it is a phenomenal guitar. I got the guitar for $100 and put roughly $120 into upgrades and it plays like a guitar way out of its price range.
bought a jackson rhoads on sale before christmas and it only lasted about 45 mins. pickups quit had to return it. have a charvel almost 30 yrs old and still plays great.
I have a JS32 with Floyd Rose I bought used for $150 and it it's amazing. Plays and sounds like a $1500 guitar in my opinion and it's light weight. I'm particularly impressed with the pickups and quality of the neck on these JS series guitars.
Man I really dig your shred jams. Did you notice the full size trem block push in trem arm also i think I remember there being a brass claw or something. Also pretty good quality switch, pots and output jack. I still have my JS11 I got used for $100 about 5 years ago. I was so impressed , I found a used Dinky dx10d made in Japan for only $200. I was so blown away by the mij Dinky that I sold my Gibson SG and 2 Fender Strats. I now have 10 mij Jacksons and 1 mij Charvel. Actually I traded my SG for the Charvel. Recently I had to get a Fender Tele because jackson/charvel does not make a tele with traditional ss tele style bridgeplate tele style guitar. Charvel use to make a tele with traditional tele style single coils and bridge plate with a killer neck and pointed headstock, perfect, but impossible to find one now. My fender tele sounds amazing like it should, just hard to play compaired to my Jacksons. oh yeah I think the jss11 is compound radius 12 to 16 , not positive on that tho also might wanna check out the Jackson JS1X minions, dirt cheap 2/3 size Rhoads and Dinky. Dont pay $189 tho go to pro audio star and ask for opened box or used and get one for about $135 to $150, even the used ones are brand new lol. if you do decide to get a minion you will have to put at least 11 guage strings on it right away and likely have to take off the hipshot style bridge and sand some black paint off bottom of bridge where its grounded to ground it way better, so much quieter when sitting idle then. the minions are real fully playable minis, i know a lot of mini guitars are kind of like toys, the jackson minions are real / not toy like at all. shred on buddy
Those old MIJ Dinkys are some real sleepers especially if you can find them cheap like you did. The Performer or Professional series from the 90s MIJ are fantastic fiddles. My guitar buddies both had MIJ Jacksons and I had a MIJ Ibanez. They couldn’t understand why I didn’t have a Jackson also especially since it’s my last name. I’ll eventually get a Jackson it’s just gonna have to be the right one. I’d love to have an old Kelly XLR , one of my friends had one of those and the other had a Dinky reverse, but the Kelly was so sweet with real MOP shark teeth and headstock logo and a bound neck. I prefer bound necks on anything with rosewood or ebony, but it’s just a personal preference comfort thing.
I own both a Harley Benton R-446 (upgraded with Donlis pickups and Tusq XL nut) and a stock Jackson JS22. Dinky’s thin neck, compound radius, polished jumbo frets and high output pickups are a killer combo. Even though R-446 is a good budget guitar (£136), you pretty much have to spend some time and money on it to make it playable (£50 in my case). On the other hand, the JS22 is great out of the box. I got mine heavily discounted due to some tiny visual defects in the paint job and for the price I paid (£160) it’s probably the best bang for the buck.
I had the JS22 and had no problems with it , I think I paid around $200. But ended up selling it to buy a Schecter Omen Extreme , unfortunately the Schecter weighed 3 times as much but I'm a huge fan of those...
i started playing with an old js, was in love with 80´s and 90´s metal always loved those super strats, today i have a 2007 jackson dk2, a heavily modded fender strat and a 90´s esp m2 deluxe, i hope one day ill be able to afford a charvel model 6 or a 90´s sl1
I float all my Bridges. I do not have a problem with tuning when I'm playing. I can use the trem quite a bit during a song. The problem only arises when my OCD kicks in. So I check my tuning... It's never totally bad.
What guitar is that orange with the maple neck in your rack? 😍 I got that dinky back about 1990. It had the reverse headstock and it also had a locking Floyd Rose branded trem but I think it cost me a little over $400.
I like the Spinal Tap reference, but you gotta watch Bad News! I sent you the link. Yeah, as soon as I heard the flat 5 chord I thought that sounded like Lynch Mob. \m/
Already own the used Dinky JS32 in metallic gunmetal grey with chrome hw and reverse headstock you talked about. I bought it for 150 with bag and it plays great. I also recently bought a JS34 used in red quilt veneer with black hw and hss with maple FB. I think I only have room for maybe a minion now unless i get rid of something. I also have have a Jackson spectra bass. 3 jacksons. sadly no MIJ, MIK, or MIA models, but it's ok. good for the value and they look cool. Oddly enough, I have a Schecter C7 Hellraiser. I have a PRS SE Custom 24. My Ibanez modded GIO and my Jackson JS32 Dinky are my favorites so far.
Guys I haven’t played the guitar since almost almost 10 years now and plan on getting back. Should I buy the JS 11 or JS 12 ? Or any other recommendation for hard rock/metal playing under 250 USD?
Around 1:04 i notice you employ unison bending in a lot of your demo songs but is there also another lead part on the accompaniment track happening? because it sounds like two guitars very similar to Maiden or Priest i.e. where Tipton is playing one part with KK playing an octave above or below him and maybe adding a third or fifth note , but every time i hear you play a part like that i'm wondering if you're achieving it using a pedal or a second audio track or maybe have a technique i'm unaware of, in any event i'd love to see you share some lessons of any of your original demo songs and maybe with backing tracks? just an idea if you have the time and are so inclined
"It doesn't have stainless steel pickups...but who cares?" People with nickel allergies? 🤣 But no it's amazing how far budget guitars have come in the last 20 years...hell, even the last 10 years. And I'm glad that Jackson is still making these super affordable guitars. A lot of companies would be worried that having budget guitars under the same banner as their "elite" guitars would tarnish the brand name, so it's great to see that Jackson isn't one of them.
👍🏻😎I bought a Dinky Minion for $115 a few months ago and I love it. I cant believe that it has 24 frets and this model you have has only 22. It would be great if it had 24 like my Minion has. I would buy one today if it did.
@@thebaldshredder have you heard the tale of Darth Shredder? It was said he could bring back old guitars, restore them, and even bring them back to life....
Yes. I would've mentioned it in the video but I didn't take the cover off until after filming. It also has a copper spring claw. Never seen that before.
I remember when Charvette was the cheapest "Jackson"...and it cost more than this 30+ years ago. A cheap "Jackson" was Charvel...and that'd cost you $500-ish, 30+ years ago. (roughly $1200 in todays dollars) Back then, a JACKSON was really something special. It's a pretty amazing time for guitar players now.
I used to have a USA soloist (hard tail) and now I have this. I have to say, this guitar really is good enough for what I need, and I fully endorse it.
My 2006 Jackson Dinky was made in India with Indian Cedro (Cedar) it is just over 8 lb. Can you do a video on neck profile explanation, or do you already have one?
Yeah, pretty sure that's the same as the one I had 20 years ago. Neck profile just means fatter (rounder) or slimmer (thin). There are many variations going from super thin to super chunky. I like super thin.
I want to like Jackson guitars but the hockey stick headstock is a huge turn-off for me, otherwise, they're great. The only guitar Jackson makes with the hockey stick heastock, that I think it actually looks good on is the Jackson King V. Those guitars are sweet!! I want to add one to my collection one day.
i remember when jacksons were custom shop only and the store down the road was one of the top Jackson dealers in the nation. they always had half a dozen jacksons hanging with custom paint and everything. the music teacher there had a evh black and yellow custom jackson with all maple neck and black floyd. i can only imagine what that's worth now. now you can get them for $199. how the mighty have fallen.
Dunno bout everyone else but I was sold on the guitar about 3 minutes in. What a demo track. Wow.
Same here, that was such a good tune.
Thanks guys
Richard
What effects pedal or software are you using for your guitar harmonzing parts? Would love to get one!! 🤟😎
i grabbed a 7 string version of the same thing, but in a poplar burl finish, I love it
Same I want that guitar
I really like this jam you wrote, it wasn't ridiculously fast, brought out great musical content and feeling. Very good listening too ! Rock On Baldy !

i bought js32 without floyd. a randy rhodes model. its amazing. light, good build quality, good pickups. and good modding potential
I got the JS22 for it's comfy shape and oh man when I first picked a wall model up at Guitar center it meled into me and this was a few months ago as my first real guitar after seeing dozens of videos on the subject and finding the JS22 just by searching for cheap guitars over a few weeks... They're excellent guitars , I had the JS22 and the RR JS32T V and put SD hotrods in. Very well made guitars and nice and light...
@@eddiejr540 thanks man
@@mikeg6666 yea great modding platforms and even the entry models have graphite rod reinforcement in the neck.
@@Vayth Yeah exactly and they're reasonably priced...

Nice! I bought a set of bellcat humbuckers pickups. When I took the covers off, they said jackson! 😮 crazy! Bellcat must make jackson pickups! 😊Thanks Shredder 🤘

Finally, someone reviewing guitars that can play and knows what he's talking about. Thank you! You had me at Bald Shredder. lol
Really enjoyed the mellow intro track 🤘👍
Can’t beat it thanks 🙏 you for sharing 😊
Mr. B.S is no bs
Great tune dude. I could tell you had fun playing that one. Sounded awesome.
That sounds amazing! Great shred!!!
As someone new who enjoys heavy metal and is somewhat new to electric guitars, im considering getting this soon! Awesome playing btw
The spinal tap reference i love it 😂
love your guitar playing, like usual, like always, take care dude
Thanks, you too!
Awesome James!! Killer chops as always 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very cool opening demo ! Jacksons look awesome, there's a seven string of theirs going for 200$ been thinking about grabbing .
Nice phrasing in your solos man , rockin stuff !
Cool vid , great track Bravo... Shred on sir

New subscriber, guitarist here too! Great solo! Harmonies were kick ass!
Incredible playing❤
Just found your channel. I love it. Shred factor is 🔥🔥🔥
Welcome aboard!
I really like stock Jackson pickups. These are definitely a good tool. Nice!
I had the one with the shark inlays. I gave it to my son in law. I should have kept it. Your jam to it was awesome.
I think that's my absolute favorite jam of yours. That was great 🤘
Thanks
Awsome...reminded me a little of HELLOWEEN!!

That being said I don't use the trem cuz it goes out of tune every time even after setting it up but using it as a hard tail it's great

You do a great job with the lead harmonies.
Love your composition.
thats Good to know. Thanks RJ
It's the best time to be a guitar player. Great cheap gear, home recording is a widespread reality, information on everything is accessible.
Really great video. Jackson should pay you for this vid man! Great promo for the brand 👍🏻

I remember when it first came out in the early 2000, but with chrome hardware and a reverse headstock. That bacame my first jackson.

According to the inflation calculator, 200.00$ in 2004 is 325.00$ today. That is over 50% cheaper or just less expensive ❤
Yeah crazy
I have a JS32 with Floyd Rose I bought used for $150 and it it's amazing. Plays and sounds like a $1500 guitar in my opinion and it's light weight. I'm particularly impressed with the pickups and quality of the neck on these JS series guitars.

I bought the same guitar several years ago. Great bang for your buck. It definitely has the Jackson DNA. Nothing cheap about it.
I have the metallic red version of that guitar I just got it 3 weeks ago awesome guitar😊
Super cool great show
Dude that jam was badass. Reminded me of George Lynch and Vinnie Moore
I'll take that compliment!

Not that those are bad, but none of them have the perfect thin shred neck like this Jackson. Plus the jumbo frets.
Definitely one of your best shred jams!
Jackson has been my go to for many years.. The high output pickups are worth their weight in gold, in my opinion.. GREAT SONG TOO!!
I got a js 32, fkn awesome guitar, put fishman moderns in ,leveled the frets an hot damn, plays like way more expensive fiddle
What guitar is that orange with the maple neck in your rack? 😍
I got that dinky back about 1990. It had the reverse headstock and it also had a locking Floyd Rose branded trem but I think it cost me a little over $400.
That's a custom dinky I had built (no name) about 15 years ago. Musikraft neck. Amazing guitar.
I like the Spinal Tap reference, but you gotta watch Bad News! I sent you the link. Yeah, as soon as I heard the flat 5 chord I thought that sounded like Lynch Mob. \m/
Cool guitar! Put some locking tuners on it and some Wilkinson locking saddles and you have a stay in tune workhorse.
I bought a js22 long ago. Always loved the feel. Choose it over the 11 for the full fretboard and the shark tooth inlays. Recently upgraded to the 32.
do you still recommend js22 for lead play?
Nice harmonies and solo was cool!! Song was pretty cool too!! What’s your signal path and what plugins did you use?

i got this one and in the exact color for my bday lol seems cool and fun especially for a beginner like me
Already own the used Dinky JS32 in metallic gunmetal grey with chrome hw and reverse headstock you talked about. I bought it for 150 with bag and it plays great. I also recently bought a JS34 used in red quilt veneer with black hw and hss with maple FB. I think I only have room for maybe a minion now unless i get rid of something. This looks and sounds fantastic for a beginner wanting to learn to play and metal at that!!
I always loved the necks on Jackson guitars so comfortable and fast.
Bruh
These Jams are epic 😮😮😮😮
We need a Jackson Minion on the channel.
Finally I see correct guitar playing in review on RUclips 😀🔥🤘👍
Nice Review... Jackson Guitars I see at Music and Arts always have sharp frets. Not an issue IMO... THAT'S A DEAL.... Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶
Guys I haven’t played the guitar since almost almost 10 years now and plan on getting back. Should I buy the JS 11 or JS 12 ? Or any other recommendation for hard rock/metal playing under 250 USD?
I got the JS DINKY ARCH 7 and i love it
13-74 strings drop f through my Esteban G10
That guitar inspired all that ??
Badass !!
You're talking about the harmony parts. Those are all overdubbed after recording the main track. I don't use a harmonizer or special pedal for that.
@@thebaldshredder Thanks for clearing that up for me Richard, I swear your original tracks are consistently 100% !🔥🔥🔥🤘 🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
One of your best compositions...nice dynamics...
Glad you like it!
ok, that black beauty must have inspired you to write one of the best tunes in months dude.. seriously.. killer tune..
I’ll check them out Thanks
Love the guitar...both sound and aesthetics. But once again, we fixed bridge lovers have no option.
If you just leave the bridge as is and don't use the bar, it's just like a hardtail.
I'M A LEFTY,I PURCHASED THE JACKSON JS22,AND I LOVE THE WAY IT FEELS AND SOUNDS!
"It doesn't have stainless steel pickups...but who cares?"
People with nickel allergies? 🤣
But no it's amazing how far budget guitars have come in the last 20 years...hell, even the last 10 years.
Jackson is the path to the darkside. Some call its shredability....unnatural.
Shredding leads to suffering...
@@thebaldshredder have you heard the tale of Darth Shredder? It was said he could bring back old guitars, restore them, and even bring them back to life....
I see something that's a bit of a surprise... The trem block is full thickness. No skinny zinc block like on most budget guitars
(roughly $1200 in todays dollars)
Back then, a JACKSON was really something special.
One man's turn-off is another man's turn-on! 🍆
Man that's cheap! This guitar is amazing ! I love Jacksons!
i remember when jacksons were custom shop only and the store down the road was one of the top Jackson dealers in the nation. they always had half a dozen jacksons hanging with custom paint and everything. the music teacher there had a evh black and yellow custom jackson with all maple neck and black floyd. i can only imagine what that's worth now. now you can get them for $199. how the mighty have fallen.
Great song man. This could actually be a hit with some great vocals added. I was just wondering, do you make a living writing songs for other people?
