    The Rafale-M is such a beautiful fighter. It is agile and powerful, yet small in overall size. But for a small fighter, it sure packs a lot of capability. These aircraft, along with the French sailors that fly and maintain them, are as good as any carrier borne force in the world. I'm glad they are on our side. I hope that someday soon they can have two carriers so that at least one is always available for operations.

      @High school Hottie, The French made a major contribution to the independence of the United States during the 1775 war, with the most famous Marquis de La Fayette, but there was also the Viscount of Rochambeau, the Count of Estaing and the thousands of officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers who came from France to fight the English on the territory that would become America or more precisely the USA !
      The Statue of Liberty, offered by France and the French to the United States, was originally a gift to celebrate Franco-American friendship and the centenary of American independence.
      It is therefore important to go back through history from the beginning to understand the links that unite our two countries, and why the USA intervened in the two world conflicts (14/18 and 39/45), even if for the latter, the USA had a very "wait-and-see" attitude and that it was only after Pearl Harbor's attack that the government decided to enter the world conflict, whereas the population at the time was not mainly in favour!!

    In case of a coalition operation it is good for foreign maritime forces to know how to operate from the US carrier. While no ship is 100% safe in a warzone, the US carrier is going to be the largest, most protected, most available (by size and by number) landing surface in the theater.

      The CDG (French CVN) was not designed small because of the budget, but only because at the max size of the Shipyard where the CDG was built.
      The next CV will be surely build at the Saint Nazaire shipyard(STX, Which is the greatest shipyard in Europe) and not at Brest where the CDG was built.
      And we need a bigger CV for a next gen, if we keep the size of CDG, it's better to not built him.
      We dont need a Ford/Nimitz size (too big for us) but the QE class is a good option. Something between 70 and 100 000tons.
      Can be equip with 50 fighters, can work with the same crew size of CDG(without the pilots / maintenance crew... bigger by the new size of course), not necesserly Nuclear, but with a good self protection, AntiAir AntiMissile AntiRad...

    • @johanherrera6413
      @johanherrera6413 6 лет назад +1

      No way of knowing but asking them... Still I think what's not to like? A pilot would appreciate the size and weight of a super carrier... More stability, more room.
      The average carriers go around 70k tons. While gringo super carriers are 100k both old Nimitz class and new G. Ford class.
      There's also the steam catapult (Nimitz class) and electromagnetic catapult (Gerald Ford class) should give the pilot a sense of more secure take off... Which it is... Surprisingly having a catapult is actually a rare thing in a carrier most carriers don't have such thing, just check the Kutznetzov class (Kutznetzov/Russia, Liaoning/China) or the Vikramaditya/India they use a ramp 😊

      Tagada I don't think canards configuration has something to do with the jet being more or less stealth. Look at the Chinese J20 it uses canards and it's stealth. We don't know how much stealth it's. I think it has much more to do with the angles of the canards being equal to the angle of the wings, which will help to deflect radar, than the position of the horizontal stabilizer.

    • @Tagadarealty
      @Tagadarealty 6 лет назад

      Everything is stealth, but you can be optimize (B2) or not (J20).
      So yes the configuration is important for the stealth.

    The French Navy is doing all this activity on a US carrier because their sole carrier is laid up in overhaul. This allows the skills of their pilots to be somewhat preserved while they wait for their own ship to emerge from overhaul. The actual long-term employment of the Rafale M on a US carrier is more problematic. The Rafale M does not have folding wings, taking up more precious space on the ship. The maintenance and parts requirements of the Rafale M are completely different than the normal airwing requirements. It would be difficult for the French support crew to be berthed and employed on one of our ships, given cultural and language barriers. The French really need to build at least 2 more carriers to be able to maintain their operational capability.

      Xcom 77 Et bien au lieu d'en construire 2 gros PA nucléaire, n'est-il pas plus judicieux d'en construire deux ou trois plus petit et à propulsion classique, car de toute façon, en cas de conflit majeur, la dissuasion nucléaire est avant tout avec nos sous-marins, l'usage de porte-avions se fait plus pour les conflits asymétrique ou contre des pays bien inférieur à nous militairement (Syrie, Irak, Mali...), alors jouer à celui qui a la plus grosse et dépenser des milliards d'euros sur un seul PA est une aberration , moralité, il ne faut pas jouer les riches quand on a pas le sou !!!lol

    • @Fabio-om4kb
      @Fabio-om4kb 4 года назад

      @@yvesgauthier1567 sur le terme opérationnel c'est pas l'idéal les propulsions classiques. Être bloqué plusieurs heures tout les 3 jours pour refaire le plein de carburant c'est franchement pas l'idéal. D'un autre côté dès qu'il doit être en maintenance une fois tout les 10 ans pour la recharge du combustible nucléaire et autres améliorations pendant ce temps on a plus de porte avions... donc 2 nucléaires serait parfait, en plus il est question d'environ 100 000 tonnes pour le prochain mais pourquoi ne pas en faire des plus petits 60/70 000 tonnes. Moins grand moins chère...

      Rafales operate on different carriers much smaller and also it’s a bit shorter then the f18 and has I think a higher central mass. And it’s also a delta wing. That’s what I think at least

    • @Bapih
      @Bapih 3 года назад

      @@cringebaby2558 It's because of the delta wing. It's designed to perform at high speeds and high altitude. But remember that Rafale do not have flaps. They need to have a high angle of attack (like the concord) to land at low speeds to use the entire wing as a flap, with the help slats on the leading edges of the wing. There is also an "auto-pitch software" that keeps the plane at the intended angle of attack during the approach.
