    Honestly speaking, I have no reason to hate LGBTQ. everyone is a human being and is absolutely inhuman to just judge them based on actions /appearance. I personally have guy friends who like a guy and likewise for the girls. I just have this huge respect to them for just being themselves. It is hard to say that there will still be people who don't approve this but nonetheless, do not give up on the one you love :) Huge support for them :D

      I wish Hollywood has given us something else other than Love Simon. That movie was hijacked by an uninvited guest. Half of the movie isn't even about the titular character. Gay relationships aren't being shown, they're told. Only one kiss in the end due to the restrictions of being a PG13 movie. But hey, it's the first gay movie with a happy ending!
      Seems even Hollywood is bad at this.

That day, on social media, I read the comments and so many people Agreed with that decision. The anger and frustration settles in but, nothing we can do about it, can we? This is a _panel discussion_. Those have been around for ages. And panel discussions that are filmed are not something Jubilee created. Jubilee is a very popular platform for filmed panels, but is not the only popular channel. Sure, this video has similar cuts to Jubilee, but that's about it. They're standing in different formation, there's no separation of different opinions on benches or spectrums. It's just a panel of LGBTQ+ people.

    • @koala2587

      Indeed,but the cuts, fonts and editing ,especially the intro is so undeniably similar that I find it hard to believe the style of the video is not at least influenced by Jubilee. There's technically nothing wrong with following a trend in video editing but a too similar style maybe not be very appealing to some .

    Updated edit: The people here who said "Singaporean society generally accepts...." are "straight-passing", or do not fit into the stereotypical look of a lgbt person. Normally, people will assume you are straight. It is different for lgbt people who also don't conform to gender stereotypes. Hence, this video is BS.

    This is GREAT! I love that this video in done by Singaporeans about LGBTQA+ Singaporeans. These LGBTQA+ should be so proud of themselves for shine the light on the issues they face individually and as a community. Change will come eventually. We need strong politicians with a spine who are willing to stand up against homophobia, even if it comes from a few religious organizations.

    • @budigunawan5624
      @budigunawan5624 5 лет назад

      That's idealistic but nope politicians only look out for themselves. Religious organizations too. Noone is sharing their power/doing charity that doesn't benefit themselves.
      I think for now LGBTQIA+ Singaporeans just need to be out and spread awareness one person at a time

    Are there any Lgbtq+ people from Singapore here?? So I will go to Singapore for vacation with my girlfriend (so we're both lesbians) and I asked myself how the situation is in the public as a gay couple...like holding hands, not even kissing..I dont know how the people react and I can imagine that the situation is very different as in Europe! Maybe anyone can help me and answer this question?? Thank you! :)

      i am a straight girl who holds hands with my girl friends and nobody bothers us. but I would doubt that some people wud b more accepting if 2 guys were to hold hands. so long as u don't kiss, light petting, caressing people wud think u all are close girl best friends and not bother. sad that these people don't recognise non hetero love haizz

    Vietnam is much more open but they also don’t know much about other kinds of sexualities (they don’t mind your business). However VNmese people aren’t rude to you like it in somewhere (not everyone, of course but I have only met 1 in my life), the government doesn’t put any pressure on you, at least in my 19 years experience. Especially, online environment is so clean compared to English-speaking online environment and that make me impressed by how civilized the people are. If there is any racist comment it will get backlash from a lot of people (both straight and LGBT+) and now I’m so so happy that when any article about the community shows up there is no racist word at all not kidding. We also have dating show with straight and gay guys to challenge the guests. We have Huong Giang as a judge in The Voice Kids and she is transgender. Movies, MV, series, online dramas, ...Meet no obligation from the authority. Many years ago I watched a talk show about LGBT rights with the gay guest on national TV channel. I can tell my teacher I like boy and jealousy of myself with someone else. I can tell my friends too. Maybe it’s bc I am a good student so I get respect every where and my life isn't hard at all. Yes there are some people with narrowed mind that you can’t prevent but you’ll have other pp protect you from racism. My grandmother said she would love her grandchildren no matter who they are. And this is the thing that I love most about my country - the people with hearts.
    I still don't have courage to tell my parents :)

    Even as uncertain they are about either lqbtg+ right in singapore are going forward or not. For me its better than already certain that its not going forward at all , as whats happen in the neighbouring countries ( yall know which im referring to) ... It's really hurt reading news or knowing that even in this modern world, we still put a words in an old book to determine how much a human beings worth in the eye of public.

    I remember when there first was a documentary about being asexual on Netflix. My mother was all up in arms that we were watching it and was like "I don't approve of this." I'm like all it means is that they don't want to have sex and my mother was like "I don't care." I'm like it's not even against your religion. Why the fuck you still talking? The thing is that we were told by my parents for years that it didn't matter if we got married or not because of what their god said. It made me realize everything they were saying was bullshit. They thought because we wanted to be educated and were watching a documentary that we were both asexual and they didn't want that because they only cared about being selfish so they could get grandchildren. And it made me realize that everything with my parents was the opposite. They said one thing but really they meant another thing.

    But I have to say Singapore has gone way greater now, it's just stricted by the conservatives but I still believe most of the people are genuinely open. So great to know there are quite big amount of straight people talking about lgbtq on the media. I hope my country, Indonesia will a move far than this though it seems so hard reminding too much religious and extremist people here.

    Can somebody explain to me what exactly the 2 girls mean by queer and asexual? I am not familiar with these two terminology. Thanks in advance.

    • @nyxie664
      @nyxie664 3 года назад

      I'm a month late to this, but queer is an umbrella term for anyone in the lgbtq+ community, it just represents the portion of people who either don't know who they are yet or can't find a specific label that they identify with. They aren't straight, just queer. As for asexual (ace people, please correct me if I'm wrong), it means that they don't experience a sexual attraction to other people. They might still have sex, but not because their body requires (is that the right word?) it. Hope this helps!
