Wow this video brings back so many wonderful memories. Traveling with my parents from NJ into PA to visit my grandparents at Mountain Top, PA we passed through White Haven, Bergers, Rita and sometimes stopped at Solomon's Gap to watch a train. My closest encounter though was at the Tingley Lane crossing in North Edison, NJ when my father and I stood at the edge of the ballast and watched two C628 Snowbirds fly through that crossing at about 50 MPH horns blasting...wow. Now I have LV C628 diesels on my HO layout with those Snowbirds pulling freights. Thanks.
The Valley was a wonderful railroad. In speaking to former employees, many of whom have passed now, I don't think I ever heard of or met one with a bad thing to say about the company. They were good to both employees and customers. Too bad they were one more railroad in a region where too many went to the same places. In the end, they were broke; the physical plant was a mess and they had to depend upon USRA money for their last motive power purchases. The fact that the Pennsy owned them in the end was not a big help either.
Permission to use about a few seconds of this VHS for an upcoming documentary on a Lehigh Valley locomotive? I will give you credit in the video, which will not be monetized.
Why does the video cut out halfway through every time the power is going by? It's irritating as hell. That's like what a guy clicks on the video to watch. I get people back then didn't record the entire train but dam, at least get the units. Cool video otherwise.

I used to own this tape years ago and I've had trouble finding it. Thank you for preserving this and other Digital Image Works videos!
Look how bad the equipment and tracks are. The government pounded the heck out of the railroads during the war years and never helped them recover.
not ture, the NCY tracks also got Pounded and the NCY rebuilt.
When I see this feature I want to cry.

Do so at your own risk; I don't own this video. Don't worry about crediting me; I don't care about monetization.
Can anyone share a map of the Laurel Run-Back Track- mountain cut-off-LV downgraded track? This confuses me lol
At 8:30 or so, that's really bad track!!
