Yes you're absolutely right. I think one of the reasons Batman is one of the most popular super heroes is that it's not only Batman himself but most of his iconic villains have a lot of very interesting and nuanced character storylines. It's also why Batman stories thrives in reinterpretation, hence we see lots of Batman movie versions. There's just a whole selection of villains to choose from that directors can expand upon that makes for an interesting story.
"There's just a whole selection of villains to choose from that directors can expand upon that makes for an interesting story." You mean Joker, Joker, Joker and Joker with a Riddler or Scarecrow thrown in once in a while, right?
@@Serryy I'm of the opinion there's no good reason for Joker to ever appear in another comic or film until the end of time. I'm so sick of rehashing the Joker feud over and over
The joke at the beginning of the LEGO Batman Movie, I feel Batman is one of few characters to have a rogues gallery that could make that joke work. Spider-Man is pretty high up there too, but it just seems to work for all the foes Batman has built up
Although later incarnations of Ivy leaned less into supervillain and more into the anit hero/eco terrorism aspect of her (the recent Harley Quinn cartoon particularly) the original animated series had some great episodes that touched on this as well. I can't wait until you get to the Ivy and Harley episodes, because they play off each other so well in this show. And it's funny you mentioned how bulky Bruce is because later down the line when the extended DC universe begins to factor into some of the Batman show episodes, there's an episode where Superman has to impersonate Batman to help figure out where Bruce disappeared to, and they were so identical in how bulky they were no one, not even Gordon could tell the difference, Bruce is a big dude, and that chin, I'm surprised more people hadn't figured out he was Batman. I even think Gordon might know and just plays along, the comic the Dark Knight Returns (written by Frank Miller who also wrote Year One you're about to read) had Bruce and Gordon even making jokes about it, of course both were old men, but it was implied Gordon had known.
Honestly, Ivy's turn to antihero was a lot like Magneto's. Fans looked back at her previous actions and realized she was in the right a lot more of the time than the writers intended 😅
@@JBWinter While i do agree with Ivy's stance on protecting the environment and saving the rainforest, I just don't agree with her actions, seeing her as petty and hypocritical at times.
@@nikogarcia201 That doesn't disqualify you from future hero status, just look at Deadpool, Grifter, Magneto, Red Hood. It kinda depends on who you're murking
This episode has a few hidden and not-so-hidden parts: green biscuits / cookies that make Alfred very happy to stay, drinks containing chlorophyll (actually tried as an alternative to sugary fizzy drinks over the decades (it's very cheap to process from vegetable tailings)), but people cannot get sustenance from it, making it ideal for people who want to lose weight. - and of course, the rich and frightened are the most likely to pay, and the least likely to tell. - and the USA has a number of health spa scams in it's history, including ones that resulted in people starving to death. Even that nice Mister Kellogg had to put sugar on his 'cheap food for workers', or they would have starved.
I had a good feeling that you would love this since I knew Poison Ivy was in this. It looked so creepy how everyone she turned into trees looked. I really loved the line that Batman gives to Ivy when he says "and the convictions of a fanatic!" You can just hear the anger in his voice especially after seeing Alfred as one of the tree people. Really shows how much Bruce really cares about Alfred. Kevin Conroy did such an amazing job with his delivery of it. Thanks for another awesome reaction Meg! I absolutely can't wait for the next one. If I'm correct, it's the Two Face two part episode. So I'm hyped for that!!
@@The_Phantasm Her mods cleared it with her that it was okay for her to start the show. Plus I only think she will be watching the first season of Superman cause it doesn't really spoil anything from BTAS. So she should be good

11:29 exactly this! my favorite part of batman is not batman lol, its of gotham and how unique all the characters are and how batman/bruce interacts with them 👌
"Poison Ivy's motivations" Indeed, her motivations are not that wrong. We could say, though, her means are the problem. Pamela Isley got to a point where she has more affinity to plants than empathy to any human (not the entire human race, but any individual human, including sometimes herself); while we are no the best species one thing is to make a message to impact people's lifes and something completely different becoming judge, jury and executioner of an entire species. That she, almost accidentaly, may find meaningful connections with some fellow humans once more is an interesting storyline explored more in recent years. "He is so clueless" Kind of XD. You have to keep in mind that when he is Bruce Wayne, he has to act like Bruce Wayne; the playboy who is so clumsy he doesn't get many things.
She’s an evil monster. Remember the episode when she kidnapped a man and used him to create her own children? Whose she terminate without an ounce of remorse. She’s not a good person.
Not my favorite episode with Ivy basically doing more of what she did in Pretty Poison on a larger scale (and targeting companies even if they DON'T damage the forest, lumping the innocent in with the guilty!). I liked Alfred x Maggie though, wish we'd seen more of her to help bring Pennyworth out of his Victorian shell from time to time. Hoping to see Two-Face soon, love that one. Another suggestion if you can get it: S1E12 It's Never Too Late. No relation to Three Days Grace.
I'm looking forward to your next Arkam playthroughs and enjoying your reactions to the Animated series (I hope you'll continue onto New, Adventures, Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice Leauge, and Static Shock (the last one I didn't even know about until recently), which are all connected as part of one world and apart from the main Batman ones often to varying degrees feature Batman, especially Justice League where he's one of the core team members and a main character in that. I think I've got an idea for a female poison-based villain that's a deadly enemy and rival of Poison Ivy, a sort of opposite character, who I've called Weed Killer, she hates most real plants, which she considers to be weeds and animals pests, except for her own 'beautiful' but monstrous yet fragile, genetically modified, living yet artificial 'plant-like' creations that threaten all animal life and natural plants if not contained, which she insanely and obsessively protects using her brand of lethal brand of poisons which she collects from her 'plants' and naturally produces from her own body, her skin, blood and tears, etc., are poisonous. She is immune to all poisons and toxins. However, she's terrible at keeping her plastic 'plants' alive, which drives her further into madness... (Ther is actually a Wonder Woman villain called Dr Poison, so she shouldn't resemble her too closely, yet maybe she could have a connection to her in some way, perhaps Dr Poison could have been a mentor to her ..?
I would love to see your reaction to Zatanna, The Man Who Killed Batman, Robin's Reckoning part 1&2, and one of the most underrated episodes Paging the Crime Doctor which is as good as Appointment in Crime Alley. As for comics I would love to hear your reactions, and I can't wait for the next Arkham game. Arkham Origins is so underrated.
Arkham Origins was legitimately fantastic to me. I enjoyed at least as much as City (Asylum is still my favorite, I loved how it was more of a focused experience/Metroidvania instead of open world). *spoilers below* Seeing all those C-tier villains have some time in the spotlight was fun to me, plus it was fantastic to see Bane in his prime. I also really enjoyed the detective portions. Obviously the absence of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill was felt, but the replacement voice actors still did a great job (especially Troy Baker as Joker, he did a great younger Mark Hamill impression).
If you want to see The True, Mutual Admiration That BATMAN, & Joker have!?? Check out the Cloak, Dagger Filled Episode, " The Man that Killed Batman" !! The Ending is AMAZING!!
As for which episodes to edit down for youtube, pretty safe bet to go with any and all of the Joker centric episodes. There is a reason why so many people think that Mark Hamill's take on the character is the best! If you think this is good, you ain't seen nothing yet! You guys have to check out some Hayao Miyazaki, aka Japan's answer to Walt Disney. The man is an absolute genius film maker, who happens to be an animator, he hasn't made a single bad movie and would whole heartedly recommend his entire catalog or at least everything starting with the formation of Studio Ghibli with the film Nausicaa in the Valley of the Wind and on. Couple of notes on Hayao, one, you may want to restrict your videos to Patreon only, as studio Ghibli is pretty notorious for copyright claims, striking channels, and have even taken down several channels. While there are some common themes in several of his movies, they are all very unique and tell a wide variety and range of stories. Even the ones that you may look at and go Nah, or the synopsis doesn't appeal to you, Do Not Skip! Literally every movie the man makes is a gem, also before I forget, ignore those that insist that you watch the original Japanese versions, studio Ghibli and Disney partnered up for amazing English dubbed versions featuring some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Continuing to love this series! It isn't the greatest episode in and of itself, its a bit similar to this one in terms of transformation. But I personally love the episode Tyger Tyger. It is based on the poem of the same name by William Blake. A kids cartoon inspired by a centuries old British poem. How fucking cool is that! So I hope i'll get to see you see it.
I don’t know if you read comics but right now ivy is causally kill and poisoning innocent people for fun and sometimes out of boredom she just broke up with Harley idk if that has anything to do with it tho
I love checking out your Witcher book talks on stream or whenever they get uploaded so I would definitely love to see you do a comic book talk, year one is great, the long Halloween, killing joke, and the dark knight returns are all favorites of mine, all of those have an animated movie made about them as well although I wouldn’t personally recommend the animated killing joke just the comic lol
I hope your serious about quitting the series of games cause the next one is a pegual to The first two games and it will be the first time Batman will get learn and meet joker for the first time I will not spoil anything else but it is just a fun game in the series I hoping you will get to it but I guessing not anyway I love the videos and keep up the awesome vids.
