I would never do the contest because I want to enjoy my steak, baked potato, salad, roll and shrimp cocktail.
I went to the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas with my dad as part of my Route 66 trip over the summer of 2018. We had a really great time there. My dad and I were at the Big Texan Steak Ranch from July 3, 2018 to the morning of July 4, 2018

My brother-in-law, Mark P. Arganbright, was banned from the challenge after eating the 72 oz. steak four Fridays in a row. He was 18 yrs. old, stood 6'6" and was 260 lbs. That was over 30 yrs. ago. I was born in Amarillo and have lived here most of my life. I have eaten there a couple of times, it's far from the best steaks. I've had many that were way better!
Good luck ever getting in. Cooking shows and the like have made thisnplace crazy popular. 2 hour wait. I won't wait two hours for any food anywhere!

I can't wait to take that challenge. I might weight 124, but I am a beast when it comes to food. I can probably eat twice as much compared to Bob.
Honey going to the Big Texan is just like going to the State Fair of Texas without the rides. Barbra Streisand tired the big steak challenge in one of her movies. IT was great.
@ARTOFWAR2008 The price fluctuates with beef prices but I think currently it's around $75.

My meal was free in Las Vegas for eating a 3 pound steak dinner. I'd never attempt the 72 ounce meal. 4 and a half pounds? omg

Joey Chestnut broke that record on March 24, 2008. Check the Big Texan website. He did it in 8 minutes 52 seconds.

It's a shame that it's really only a tourist trap anymore ,thier steaks are good ,but not the best anymore,but it's still a cool place to go,and by the way a lady beat that with 2 of them in less than a hr.

At $72.00, that steak had better be tender, juicy, flavorful and cooked to my liking. If it's tough, fatty, or off-tasting, they will lose. Sorry, guys, it is still a steak and l am the customer.

Can't cook a medium steak at all ... been there three times and they just can't cook a medium steak .... arrives tough ...
It honestly looks gimmicky as hell. The real question is whether the steak is actually any good or just big
Jbramson12 Their food is actually pretty good. I prefer the roadhouse for a sirloin because its cheaper and quicker but the Big Texan is great for celebrations. They sing to you, lots of ambience and real texans with real accents. My daughters first job was working there. Its a tourist trap somewhat but its really fun and the food is good...more like a western carnival.

makavali ali They have plenty of bovine in bangladesh but they won't eat them because of their religion. In Somalia and Ethiopia they have political issues, otherwise they could easily raise cattle. You cant get food to them if you want to because corrupt government officials steal it and aell it.
