  • This fascinating documentary tells the tale of British Airways from its origins in August 1919 when the first international scheduled flight took off - the passenger aviation industry was born! But as well as uncovering the past, this programme shines a light on the present - highlighting the differences, but also the remarkable similarities, between aviation then and now.

Great documentary! I love everything British. The history is so fascinating and you've shown it so well. I'm a small small shareholder in the parent company ICAGY. Thanks for the history. Ron from Massachusetts USA

Good documentary.! But no mention of its best aircraft the VC10 or its routes throughout west and east Africa, carrying many of us to school in England and home for the holidays.
The crews were really kind to us and ground Staff as well, given the limited aircraft guidance and weather alerts in some of these remote places eg Blantyre Malawi, the VC10 looked after us 100%
Thank you BA and predecessors BOAC .

How the mighty have fallen. It’s now just another budget airline.

Last time I checked, they’ve just re-introduced free food on short haul flights, which I don’t remember any budget carriers doing

Biometrics. Nice, but quite a lot of countries do not allow such information gathering. I just hope BA knows how to care for these databases. Probably not.

Nice documentary, even if it does manage to leave some rather uncomfortable little facts out.

You can't call those small private airlines the start of BA. Not until Empire Airways was started, then that would e the start.

One thing really grinds my beans. You all know the 747 painted in vintage BOAC colors. And what does BA do, they had to write all over the rear end that this is actually British Airways. Those idiots who don't know that, are not interested in the paint scheme. Was that really necessary.

It may be time to buy out EasyJet and add its routes to the BA system.

Total nonsense, the service in the Concorde Room is rudimentary at best. They certainly do not do anything out of the ordinary. It’s nice certainly but it’s not spectacular

This video is a load of BS. British Airways has only existed since 1974. QANTAS has operated under that name since 1920. Ans KLM have been operating under the same since 1919.

They traded under different names pre 1974, give it another watch..
