For anyone finding this: I followed these directions and found some easier ways. First, you can remove the clips that hold the headlight into the housing. There are three of these. These are also your adjustment screws. By doing this, you can actually see what your doing. Second, do not slide out towards the outside of the truck. Slide the housing toward the center (left if you are doing the right one, right if you are doing the left one). This makes it way easier.
@creepindead You can leave the headlight in your truck. There are two adjusting screws on the backside of the main beam. There should be one on the top and one on the bottom of the lens. You adjust the headlight position by turning these screws. It's easier to adjust them at dusk or at night on a flat surface so that you can see where the beam is aiming as you adjust it. Hope this helps out.
My 96 is not like the vehicle you are working on. I didn't have to remove the bumper but I did remove the plastic cap that clips on top of the bumper. Then the lamp housing fit in easily. Thanks for the tips though. I can see again!
Thanks for the vid, saved me a ton of time. This is identical to my 1995 Ram 2500HD (diesel) Has the same 10mm bolts and everything. Took 15 minutes to swap out thanks to your video. Appreciated /salute
@213mfredy The light should shine just as far as the OE ones. We do recommend replacing the bulbs if your headlights came with them, because they are a test bulb and may not be as strong as the ones you previously had.Hope this helps.
My dodge's headlights did the same thing. Even filled with water. I heated a nail and melted a small hole on the underside of the light lens for the water and moister to drain. My lens cleared up nicely afterwards
Thanks so much. This was just as easy as you said and show it is. Did the passenger side today, waiting for the driver side. Question: I only ordered the headlight housing only, trying to save money, figuring I could change it out. Looking at the whole housing, it looks do able. Yes? But will have to readjust the placement of where the light hits the road. Do you happen to have video for this also?
I have my Dad's 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I noticed Sunday night the passenger side was out. It's night and low, so I needed some instructions. I thought I would replace both sides since they were a bit hazy, instead of just the bulbs. I haven't checked to see if that was an option on his truck. On my Camaro I had you couldn't just replace ac bulb, but it was super easy to replace them. My Dad thought it was important I knew how you do some of the normal maintenance and repairs on my vehicles since I started driving. I do it with gloves, which he found hilarious. Im not messing my nails up and I hate oil and grease on my hands. LoL.
thanks for the video. had a deer run into me last month. picked up some new headlight assemblies and put them in. only took about 45 mins and one busted knuckle.
hey man thanks alot, the non sport headlights 94-98 arent the same as this. Just to let you know that headlight you worked on is a 99-02 not 98-02. And FYI only the diesel was available in that body style for 02.
thanks for the video...i was fighting with that thing for an hour before i decided to come google installation procedures...lol..sad...watched this and had it installed in 10 mins

Oh yeah, would it be easier to disassemble and re-assemble the headlights by removing the front bumper? I know it may be extra work, but it would make the installation a whole lot better.

4.10.2023 Hey nice job, except you didn't really 'show' where the 3rd bolt that needed to be removed was located. As-well, it seemed like a 'lot of force' to get the unit to 'lay forward and to slide' as you shared. It's not the same as my 98. But it was decent post. Thanks brother. Best wishes always! Sir Nicholas
My left headlight on my 97 dodge ram points down and to the right and shines about 10 feet in front of my truck so it doesnt do me much good. How do i adjust it to point straight? Do i have to remove my headlight completely or is there some way i can adjust it without removing the headlight?

I have a 2001 1500 and the parking lights are integrated with the headlight. Can't figure out how to remove lens assembly. Do I need to remove the bumper?

No you should be able to reach your hand around the back of the headlight and twist them out.
Oh yeah, would it be easier to disassemble and re-assemble the headlights by removing the front bumper? I know it may be extra work, but it would make the installation a whole lot better.

Leave it to Dodge to make it more complicated than it had to be

My bolts were ⅜" not 10mm.
Same thing
not right for 99 dodge ram fyi
