Alpinist, the watch you can wear to the office for weekdays and wear on a mountain trail for the weekends. Welcome to Asians being cheap. Why make a watch for one occasion when you can use it for multiple occasions.
I've been searching for a sweet green face that isn't 15k and the citizen promaster land led me to your channel, and I'm sooo happy I looked around and found this review. I love this watch for its simple sexiness and I am now on the hunt to procure one. Thank you!! This will occupy my time while I'm deployed to Poland lol
@adamc8302 found a dealer on Chrono24 and messaged them directly. Every online store has a 'contact' page too. I always send at least one message asking if a store is willing to negotiate a price. I've had about a 50% success rate. You gotta be a dumb salesman to not be willing to haggle at least a little bit to move product.
Much appreciated🍻 As for the strap, I don't see why not. I personally do not like anything outside of bracelets and NATOs but I've only ever heard good things about tropic straps. If i had to, I'd probably opt for a brown one just because that's the color typically paired with green alpinists.
Go Navy! I have one of these that I picked up during an exercise at Camp Fuji last winter. I saw the light of the watch store I was at dancing across the sunburst dial like a green nebula and I knew I had to have one. I alternate between my Alpinist and Glycine Airman as my daily drivers.
That’s a stunner. You can’t go wrong with an Alpinist. And I like how it doesn’t look like your typical dive style GMT (although I like those also). Thanks for the great review!
ITS PERFECT... I NEED IT! I mean... I may have already purchased it. Ooops not sorry. it's exactly what I wanted in the alpinist but had no idea existed being in the US
I think the Alpinist is probably one of Seiko's most iconic watches for people in the know. You see someone with one on and you know that guy is alright. This is crazy legible... I thought the gold and green would suffer but it looks great! I wonder if there would ever be a blacked out version... 🤔 Hope you have a great week bud!
The gold+green is much more legible on this one than it was on previous Alpinists. On this one, the numbers and indices are applied and flat with sharp edges, and their finish is matte/brushed. Legible from any angle. On some previous models, like the RUclips-hyped SARB017, the numbers and indices were embossed in the dial, rounded, and had a mirror polish finish. Legible only when held in the right angle in the right light.
Outstanding no-nonsense review. It is indeed a lovely Alpinist. For me the spoilsports would be the prospex logo, thickness and automatic 3 days text. The SARB017 text would have sufficed with the inclusion of the red GMT text. If they really wanted the prospex logo, they should have engraved it on the crown instead (similar to SBDX017 and variants within its generation).
@@degenerateWA From a fellow alpinist fan, the feeling is mutual. I own the SARB017 and SPB089. Love the Perpetual Calendar SSASS Official Limited SBCJ023 (Seven Summits Actions For Sustainable Society). But thats so rare and unobtainable and most likely priced off the roof too. Will pick the SBEJ005 with our "wish list" on it any given sunday. ;)
Huh? The text on the SARB017 was the entire Iliad printed in glaring white with a butt ugly serif font, completely spoiling the nice dial for me. That ugliness was one of the reasons I held off buying an Alpinist until this SBEJ005 came. Yes, it's still too much text, but now it's just a short novel and it's printed in discreet and more appropriate (for a metallic green dial) gold, plus that little red "GMT" accent.
Dude I think you're absolutely spot on, the alpinists never really got me but that one, no cyclops and vintage green, hell yeah 💯 😊😊
You're a degenerate of the finest caliber🍻

Much appreciated🍻

Way overpriced with substandard bracelet and that stupid looking X on the dial. Nah, thanks.

Great review. Where did you get the metal strap? Looks good.
It is the Angus J "Louis" from Strapcode
