Look at the (blackness of) oil spill. I bet there was a catastrophic transmission failure that locked up the wheels

The FMTV/LMTV M1078A1 will not lock the wheels if it has transmission failure. Army Regulations states that no tactical vehicle will be driven over 55 mph. If the Soldiers would have been given the proper training they would have learned that tactical vehicles should only be driven at 55 mph to catch up. The vehicle TM -10 (Technical Manual) tells you in Table 11. System Data: Highway Maximum Speed 55 mph (88 km/h). ATP and other FM's explain that during convoy or vehicle operations 55 mph is used only as catch up speed. Not the Soldiers fault if they were not given the proper training or instructions.

I don’t see any signs of that being an active military vehicle. They usually don’t travel on public roadways solo, but there are some exceptions. I wonder if they just threw military vehicle in the title because it looks like a military vehicle and they were too lazy to look up the make and model of that vehicle? Or …….. I trust the news as much I trust our politicians.
