I purchased the note the first day it hit T-Mobiles shelves and I'm flabbergasted. This phone is amazing. I've been with the galaxy family until Galaxy 3 then I switched to iPhone, and I'm back on Android and on a Galaxy and I'm not looking back. Love your videos Lisa, I watch all of them, for fun and for some knowledge. You're the best.
Yes, we used the AT&T version for this review and it can shoot 4k video.

Here in the US it's pretty rare for carriers to offer 64 gig models of anything in store other than the iPhone. No idea about overseas. Since the 32 gig model is already $100- $150 more on contract than other flagships, the 64 gig might cost double the LG G2, Optimus G Pro, GS4, iPhone 5s base. US carriers avoid high contract price tags.

That depends on whether Samsung decides to update their TouchWiz apps for the GS3.
I've had no reception issues with our AT&T version of the Note 3.
That really depends on the size smartphone you prefer. The Note 3 is considerably larger than the S4 and LG G2.
Use the select tool to convert handwriting to formulas (or text-- both options are available).
Any note 3 users noticed that now you can move your big game apps to the micro sd card under app manager like it used to be on gingerbread a while back, its nice to have this feature back again. Loving my note 3.

Hi Lisa, Great review. Compared to the S4 and other normal size phones, how do you feel the Note 3? Does it get uncomfortable after awhile? Does it fix in a normal jeans pocket?

Great review Lisa, as always! Perhaps I missed it in your review, but I don't believe you commented on voice/call quality. How does it compare to the Note II in this aspect? I have the Note II and plan to upgrade. Voice/call quality on the Note II is stellar. Since I actually talk on my phones, in addition to everything else, call quality is always important to me. At the end of the day it is still a phone. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Lisa, please start making mention of the s pen's web browsing functionallity also. I didnt know of useful it is as a cursor till i had the note 3 and 2014
I like the Note 3 quite a bit, however as with other phones that go through 1,2,3...x revisions, it doesn't completely wow me like the first Note did. It really depends on the size phone you want, and if the pen feature is attractive. I like to draw, so I still love the pen!

Excellent review as usual. One question for you, do you think that Note 3 offers a good upgrade to justify the price for a current LG Optimus G Pro owner (don't care about pen input)?
As always great review. Although your reviews are quite extensive this device has so many features that its almost impossible to show them off in one sitting. There's even a mini desktop screen mode that makes the display smaller for one handed use. I've been a Note user from the first generation and each one gets better and better.
btw lisa, where did you get that shirt, I love it.
The new Dell tablets look pretty cool. Excited about Bay Trail Atom processors too.
You didnt mention the USB Audio output, how it sounded i was especially interested in knowing how it sounded through an amp compared to an iphone or ipod

it is a good feature that the speaker is not at the back of the phone (the speaker of the htc one really spoiled us).

Yes, I did cover voice quality and it's excellent.
Love all your reviews however the only thing that really bothers me is you always have your screen brightness so low. Makes it hard to appreciate the display on your videos. Can you ensure your brightness is all the way up before filming?

I thought it'd be a problem, but unless I misunderstood Lisa, it's faux leather plastic. Not traditional faux leather. Being so, I would assume that it has the same stain resistance of any other plastic white phone. Am I wrong about this?

I honestly don't know if all Note 3 variants are region locked. I certainly wish that Samsung hadn't introduced region locking though!

The pen nib (tip) is much softer than glass, so it won't mar the display.

No sure if I'll review the Galaxy Gear. So far I haven't seen a smartwatch that really is compelling... think we have a few more years to go before they're useful more than Maxwell Smart geeky cool.

There are some apps that can be "disabled" in the Settings app, but most system-dependant apps can't be without root or without breaking something important.
The Galaxy Note 3 is the best because it sports the new Super AMOLED display technology which produces much more vibrant colors, superior contrast and the best superb black levels.
Everyone in Italy buys Samsung TV's, refrigerators, monitors, smartphones and air conditioners because they know Samsung makes the best quality products.

The Galaxy Note 3's technology is about 12 months ahead of other smartphones.
Galaxy Note 3 sports Super AMOLED technology, next-generation LPDDR 3 RAM, 4K video recording and USB 3.0 while other smartphones don't.
Well yeah Samsung is the biggest tech company in the world.
Super AMOLED displays are better than LCDs because Super AMOLED displays have superior motion performance (faster response times), infinite contrast and the deepest black levels (0cd/m^2 to be exact). Super AMOLED is the future.
LCD is a thing of the past.
Lisa great reviews as always. I have a Nexus 4 and I'm so tempted but I know the 5 is right around the corner. I wanted to know if you can also mention in your reviews if the phones are QI certified. Love the feature in my Nexus 4 and I'm sure some folks would be glad for the extra info.

great review! i have a note 3, got it on thursday and my battery in heavy use is not lasting well, 100% in 5 hours it was on 21%, played a game. used abit the camera and mostly web browsing. Brightness Auto max. Wifi and gps on, air features on and using gsm only. Is it cause the battery is new? i only charged it 2 or 3 times yet.
No overheating so far, but my GS4 that I've had since launch hasn't overheated either.

Will you be doing a review of the Sony Xperia Z1 Lisa? I'm currently torn between scylla and charybdis when it comes to that phone and this Galaxy Note 3. I'm kind of leaning towards the Z1 at this point.
Please do proper research but from I've read they are saying as long as you activate the line in the region it was meant for, you can than move it to another region and it will work fine.

still lags a bit and has choppy scrolling. Maybe it's just android. I thought it was pretty smooth for awhile but it reverted back to s-lag just a little.

Hi Lisa, what is the actual usable RAM? I had a play in the ones in Hong Kong and in the settings it said 2.5GB usable? O.o Also, annoyed that Samsung have released a 16GB version in Hong Kong and a few other areas!

I've had this for almist a week now, and I can honestly say that the build quality is top notch, and I find the back cover to be one of the more welcome changes.
I think so too. The HK version has App2SD but that's besides the point. A lot of people in Hong Kong are now deciding to drop support for Samsung because this isn't the first time they've screwed over this region.

Also, the other quandary is I'm actually using the Note 8 as my ONE device more and more nowadays (the battery life isn't great though so I'm carrying around the Samsung battery pack).. ah 1st world problems... Finally saw a display unit of this here in Sydney at the Samsung store. Kudos to Samsung for making the great screen from Note 3, I still hate AMOLED, but my, I'm impressed!! Brought it side by side with the S4 both at their brightest and really, S4 is only half as bright as the Note 3! Wow.
Right, like most white plastic phone backs, I'd expect this to resist staining. Dirt might get trapped in the fake leather gain but that should be easy to clean.
