- Another Core Teardown video! If you haven't seen the first video, I dismantled an LS7 7.0L Engine and that video is here: • SEIZED LS7 7.0L C6 Cor...
Part of my business is selling engine parts and we get a few interesting cores in. I NEVER know how bad or good they'll be, or what parts will be inside until I take them apart. I rarely get a story with them, never know miles. All I know is that it was replaced for a reason. Sometimes its something minor, sometimes its catastrophic.
If you enjoyed this video, please let me know! Positive reactions will only drive me to make more tear down videos as we have cores coming in weekly.
Don't forget to subscribe and check out my other videos!
If you’re interested in parts from this engine or engines like it, we list the majority of these parts on our eBay store under the seller name Importapart.

Thank you for not playing crappy music, or boring us with a cheesy, time wasting, intro. This is how informative videos should be done. 2 thumbs up!
Couldn't have said it better myself!
agreed!! im not even a gear head and i loved this video!
For the spots where he talks about what he's saying but it's sped up, subtitles would be great but otherwise I think this is perfect
Ditto.
I'm going to agree with this 100% and I feel the need to comment because it is so rare to find on youtube. These are very well done informative videos without any worthless fluff.
Watching your laid back engine dismantling videos right before bed is for some reason oddly satisfying.
how about keeping the engine parts in order 🤔
@@alejandrodelgado3058 you only keep everything in order the first time. You’ll know exactly where everything goes on your second build.
@@jasondean3332 he a newbie
THIS
Funnily enough that's when I watch them too.
High-speed grunts sound hilarious, like a tiny "unf".
Thank you for this
The magic happens around 11:51
Love how even with the disassembly he's still going cross pattern on the bolts.
Read many manuals, that's what a smart person is to do!
Yeah you don't wanna warp parts you're gonna resell
Straight forward disassembly with relevant comments, short time-lapses where it made sense and no music, whats not to like.
And special thanks to Alvin the Chipmunk for additional commentary.
Ha i knew i wasnt the only one who thought this
@11:52 lol...
when he's exerting himself, it sounds like Alvin having sex.
Just thought it was funny it sounded like Alvin having trouble pooping.
The Bob Ross of engine tear downers.
You could do a teardown video on every single engine you guys get in and I will watch every one of them!!! This is absolute tv gold!!!
Edit: I absolutely love the way your doing them please for the love of god don't change anything except doing more of them!
agree
I was patiently waiting in anticipation for that block to fall off the table
No.
Fall and let his feet break the fall be fore hitting the floor
I just wanted to say I really appreciate watching you tear down these engines, I always seem to pick up a little piece here and there of something that I might not have known or done myself. But the best part is no unnecessary swearing. You don't know how much I appreciate that!
To me, there’s no need to swear when taking something apart. I’ve got enough tools to win every time. Going back together though, profanity has a place. I just don’t film it 😉
@@I_Do_Cars I just like it because if my wife and daughters want to come in and see this, I don't have to mute any of it, for that I thank you.
@@I_Do_Cars I love your positive attitude and your patience while you win these battles. Thank you for sharing, very much appreciate your time and effort in this quality entertainment. Best thing out of this pandemic is right here, this channel.
..... THIS GUY IS .. EASY TO WATCH/LISTEN TO..... VERY UNPRETENTIOUS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE,,,, HE LETS HIS WORK/CRAFT SPEAK FOR ITSELF.
COOL.. THNKS
AND OH, YES..... THE BEST PART.....
wait for it....
NO STINKING LOUSY MUSIC... love it !
This was really nice to watch. Simple straightforward and right to the core issue. Loved the helium beer voice too.
Best tear down video I’ve seen. Nice and simple but detailed!
Then he grabs the impact after we watch him rachet for 2 minutes lol
All the excitement and no pain, thank you
Very straight to the point and very interesting to watch. Also just realized how soothing the sound of tools is to me 😎
Good, solid presentation. You do a great job of keeping it interesting. Nice to see the oops moments included.
Looks like a pretty well designed engine; cross bolt mains, roller lifters, wide valve angle, and OMG look at the size of those intake ports! NA with solid lifters, a fat cam, high compression forged rotating assembly, studs, and ITBs would make it a reliable screaming monster of an engine.
This is incredibly fascinating and I think I would enjoy this kind of work. I just love tearing things apart.
This is a well done engine tear down video, yes, no crappy music, just good information.
I agree this is a very no-nonsense approach that is very informative and gives me the opportunity to see the inside of engines that I would normally never get my hands on.
Watching this make me want to take real extra care of my 6.1. Not that a dont do it already. But really extra love. I'm not going to let it end up like that one.
Its cool seeing these videos knowing its your source of income and getting excited when you do when finding good parts!
These videos are better than any episode of Forensic Files" :)
Some of the best content I have seen in a while. Beautiful.
I absolutely love these teardown videos
Enjoy your videos. Your intro is great; getting right into the teardown and not wasting time. Please, as you continue to grow your channel, don't change that aspect of it. THANK YOU, Best wishes for you and your family.
That was fun, looking forward to the next one!
After watching a bunch of your tear-down videos I see a new market created to salvage cranks like this one. Six of the bearings are 0.10 oversized while the remaining two are 0.80 oversized. Problem solved and the money rolls in. I really like your site. There are some engines of mine that I never tore down after loud bangs and final lockups and now, after watching your videos I can say, 'so that's what probably happened to THAT engine!'
I don't know why but I'm so fascinated by this channel
Why is this so interesting? Like watching surgeon doing an operation...
I didn't know Adam Sandler's younger brother was so good with Engines!
Great video, you fastforward at all the right times! Keep it up!
This dude is costing me thousands-every time I watch one his videos I get an oil change-regardless of how many miles I have from the last one
So true
LoL but it's less than you'd spend rebuilding your engine tho. 👍🏻👍🏻
Reasonable oil change intervals, and most important is to have oil in the crankcase in the first place.
same here
Would love to see a 5.7 hemi tear down. I know it's very similar. But would still be awsome to see. These tear down videos are great BTW. Keep 'em coming!
You and the “Precision Transmissions” guy should do one of Ed Bolian or Hoovies heaps.
you mean "uh Richard" ? 😆

They both throw the metal around on their table, HA!
Great job....ty for educating us in what to look for when you tear one down...
Not even remotely interested in cars or engines but subscribed because you have a personable style, are witty, good video editing, you make it interesting and I might learn something :) Best Regards
I had to concur with a guy before me in the comment section no crappy music is music to my ears thank you so much really enjoy your videos!
I thought Adam Sandler only did Hollywood movies and Saturday night Live.
Yes 😅Adam Sandler
6.1 hemi is legendary, natural aspirated powerful, and rare displacement. I remember that mclaren f1 engine is 6.1 litre v12 and this is legendary too.
Saw your c6 zo6 tear engine tare down! It was awesome watching it bolt by bolt. That is my dream car and you ripped it apart good.👌🏽
"tear" down
May I recommend an engine stand? It will make your job a lot easier.
Nah, I believe the term is “balling on a budget”
His got one in the back ground of the video in the beginning
you guys all nailed it. I don’t do stands unless something goes back together.
@@I_Do_Cars How long until you try to turn over a locked up engine and roll it of the bench and on your foot
@@christopherbrooke2142 Yes use a stand faster and safer
You have the best tear down videos on RUclips fella. Very interesting to see how these engines are designed.
YA BABY
Holy shit!!!! Dude it’s good to see you!
I love how in these teardown videos the gaskets are never fused to the head like what happens to me!
Was fun and Thank You!
Great videos, I love the mysteries in the engines!!!!
Keep up the good work.I can watch these all day long!
😄
Straight to The point.
Keep doing The good job
So cool to see a tear down of the engine I have in my car!!
great video, no bullshit, this guy knows what hes doing!!
Recent subscriber. Another great video...informative, entertaining and great editing!
It's amazing how simple that engine is compared to the Nissan/Infinity 3L twin turbo I just watched you tear down in another video.
This is oddly soothing to me.
Especially since it’s not mine! 😀
Having work at a dealer ship in my late teens I really enjoy seeing the tear down.
When I tore down engens it was always a surprise as to why or what failed.
I love watching these videos!!
That is a win you got lots of good parts out of this engine. Heads aftermarket cam and the block is still good.
Love your vids! It’s nice to just let your videos run and relax and chill with my puppy. Keep up the amazing work 🥳
Pssss…”you should do a tear down of a Jeep Wrangler engine…4.0 l6 preferably if you can find 97-06” 🤙🍻
liked your teardown video, you do it well
You are doing a great job with your videos thank you
brother thank you for your channel. ive learned a lot about engines
Good block good heads good cam it was a good day👍🔧
Nice tear down video, thanks! So do you use an impact driver for the small screws/bolts and an impact wrench for the big stuff?
Your grunts in high speed are funny!
Nice vid man. Right to the point.
I love these videos bro idk why
The 6.1 Hemi looks to be a very basic design. I like that. Nothing complicated...
256,000 miles on 07 Tacoma bought brand new - 2,000 mile break-in. Always warm it up before I drive off.
I had an LS1 that I let the coolant warm up to 100 degrees before going. It always sounded like a diesel if I didn't. My Tacoma 3.4 V6 doesn't care, but I do let it idle for 3 minutes during an Arizona winter just to warm up the oil enough to accelerate harder onto a highway.
thats a great video bro, even one of the best for 6.1
Man keep these videos like this coming !!!
Damm that's a lot of engines in your shop...I would love to dismantle all those engines..you have my dream job
Sound effect is a good bonus!!!. 🤣
Its so ironic how i blew my 6.1 hemi 2 weeks ago too, its just my main bearings too but im lucky how it still starts and holds preassure. Thank you this video is gonna help big time 👍
side note- i feel like the oil is to thin for a engine that burns its fair share of oil
@@hemiboy9860 How much are you burning lol? My 06 With 135k burns or (more likely a rear main as all the plugs indicate its pretty darn bare bones burning clean) in a 5k kms so 3k miles it can go down idk half to a quart. Havn't checked it recently, and for crap and giggles i used penzzoils high mileage crap hoping it may swell up that rear main. Runs mint though, just annoying i guess.
@@baileyhatfield4273 youre leaking oil from the rear main seal?
i feel like the plastic tensiner broke and bits clooged up the oil pick up tunned
Your grunts are very cute when sped up😂
high-speed learning thank you
Excellent video
Wow, that valvetrain is simple. The heads were a piece of cake to remove as well and nice two plug design. That cam has some serious duration. That engine looks like a good design overall...especially the way the crank caps are bolted in from the top and then from the side. It's almost designed so after it blows up you can remove and rebuild it on the side of the road really fast!
I don't know shit about cars but find myself picking up things from you, nice vids man!
Time for a stroker. I'm building up a 95 LT1 right now that was just like this one. Spun rod bearings TRASHED the crank, but the top end was flawless. Now I'll have a sweet 11.3:1 377. Make lemonade out of it man!
Gotta love how Alvin is on the payroll.
Dang! I've been looking for a 6.1 core like this one for a couple years. As long as the block/heads are good (price good too) I'd be happy!
Good video ,really liked, did You found what CompCams you got?
I just love it when you go into "Donald Duck" hi-speed voice mode Eric. Now iw if you could just add a little "excited Donald" expressions too.
6.1, 6.4, and later (Eagle) 5.7 heads rarely drop valve seats, unless overheated. Just the Early 5.7s had an issue with valve seats.
And then the later engines had MUCH MORE problems with cams and lifters to my knowledge. Maybe it's the higher hp ratings and them getting everything out of the engines. I drove a truck with a newer engine the Eagle head engines and shit the thing goes. With an exhaust its a nice unit.
I love the small voice sound effects! 😁
I like seeing how each different manufacturer goes about putting an engine together. Not sure why I expect to see some voodoo parts on the big HP engines that you tear down. They're just "normal" engines.
Outstanding.
"...anything pushrod is pretty easy" -
Eric pre-Bentley 6 3/4 Litre.
May his optimism rest in peace
Oil is our friend. So is the DIPSTICK!!!! It's ALWAYS the farthest rod from the oil pump.
newer hemis have a crap oiling system in general, its been explained pretty well on other channels. the casting literally ignores the fact that it leaves certain parts of the engine to basically slowly wear out since it just doesn't lube those parts like the older versions did.
they did some good improvements with geometry and valve angle, etc. but they really fubared the whole oiling system in the later gens.
All hemi owners. dodge is known for lifter problems .please no cheap oil and filter .check oil twice a week change every 3k
They could design em with 2 oil pumps: One in front one in back.
@@JF32304 Owner blows up engine, everyone blames manufacturer.
@@joer8854 I had a hemi blow up on me as well. I maintained it very well. Changed all fluids at proper intervals... Engine blew.
These videos give me unrealistic expectations for how fast my tools should do their jobs.
Looks like a friends chevy 350engine 30yrs ago after his torque wrench broke and he stupidly tried to torque the last 3 or 4 rods by feel and way over torqued them. Shame he destroyed a perfectly good 400 steel crank. Great teardown!!
Man seeing u tearing down these engines makes me want to rebuild one of these with way better parts. I bet u have a bad ass really good running engine in ur ride.
You should do a video where you break down core costs and what you can recover on from that cost on parts. Like this core for example. What did you pay for the core and what could you get back out of the parts.
Thanks for sharing bro....
I rebuilt a chevy 327/350--every piston ring was broken, 2 spun conn rods--I got a new crank and reconditioned the rods and had a nice new engine
Great video
You gotta give us the Comp grind / specs on that camshaft you scored. That's part of the reason that the engine ended up in your hands.
Cool video thanks for uploading
I will subscribe to your channel because I am interested in your style. I have two suggestions politely:
1, Check your focus often.
2. Look for a setting in your editing software that allows you to maintain the pitch of the audio while time-shifting. This should help you avoid the Alvin And The Chipmunks deal.
