Dr. Adrian Helmsley, part of a worldwide geophysical team investigating the effect on the earth of radiation from unprecedented solar storms, learns that the earth's core is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the crust of the earth is becoming unstable and that without proper preparations for saving a fraction of the world's population, the entire race is doomed. Meanwhile, writer Jackson Curtis stumbles on the same information. While the world's leaders race to build "arks" to escape the impending cataclysm, Curtis struggles to find a way to save his family. Meanwhile, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes of unprecedented strength wreak havoc around the world.

With this much amount of plot armor I can defeat even batman
Don't overguess
I highly doubt it
Unlikely even with no-armor batman. Yet Batman has every type of armor you can't even imagine. And they simply won't give nobody any armor at all. Ha, failure.
😂😂
Fanservice Mary sue anime manga otaku.
I love how they outrun, out drive, and out fly an erupting volcano and its shock wave. Impressive.
and impossible
All they have to do is outrun the CGI, which is basically the premise of any modern sci-fi movie nowadays _"don't let the CGI get you!"_
Yeah. Had it been a little less Indiana Jones meet MacGyvyer it would have been a lot more credible and thus more interesting.
Well, the camper might have teleported at least once during this scene, so...

"That guy's crazy, right daddy?"
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean hes wrong."
This is ridiculous, been over a half an hour.
I tell ya the guy's a nutjob.
Stop it gordon
Noah hand me the phone again
*Loud Explosion*
@Faithjohnston-v6h "I have goosebumps people..."
Daddy what was that?
Nothing! Nothing!
I like how Gordon flies them around the world and then gets crushed in the end so the parents can get back together 😂

“Always remember folks, you heard it first from Charlie!” Famous last words of Charlie Frost.
Surprised he survived for that long lol
And Moonfall makes this movie feels like a documentary in comparison.
@BMFstudiosNYCnot really,I actually like it 😂
@Zargabaath wow, good comment bro,but literally who tf asked 💀
Moonfall was cute when you’re bored late at night and want something to watch. The gravity component of that movie was cool.
I swear, this is not a disaster movie. It's Disney level family fun movie.
That whole movie is that one guy who has massive luck lol
I freaking LOVE Woody Harrelson in this role xD He absolutely nails it!
He wasn't playing a role 😂
"This isn't even a character. That's just Woody Harrelson being himself."
CinemaSins.
@Quasihamster ...I would argue that CinemaWins would also use exactly that line!
Also, isn't that the guy who played Haymitch in the Hunger Games?
@ Exactly!
Just guessing that the sound level that explosion would have made would have killed anyone within 100+ miles instantly.
the light emitted from the explosion would probably blind everyone too
surprise, this movie doesn't accurately portray how a super eruption would look like.
@a6am3mn0n It wasn’t supposed to. They had a massive CGI budget and intended on using it. The movie was more a story about the family & facing life threatening situations but managing to persevere.
The shockwave from the explosion would’ve also killed them on top of that, I’m surprised that they’re so close to the blast but yet the shockwave is like a gentle breeze hitting them.
All that pressure of Yellowstone being released all at once would be immense, similar to how Krakatoa erupted but 100x more.
The overpressure of a blast this massive when it erupts would flatten and obliterate them and anyone and anything miles away from the eruption.
There's videos on youtube from the tonga eruption in 2022 of the blastwave travel around the globe and that would be tiny in comparison to yellowstone
To save money they just shot film of Woody Harrelson going about his everyday business 😂
Yellowstone caldera is nearly 50 MILES across. The eruption would be a LOT bigger than this.
How big exactly?
western_star_4900xyeah I know but how big exactly
@KhalilMurray-ei1rd Very. Very big. Very very very big. Enormous.
Calderas arent giant explotion craters
@ВладимирКруглов-к9о YUUUUGE
you know its bad when the birds leave 3:38
Dude, everything within a thousand miles would've died just from the Soundwave alone.
Luckily it’s a movie with a fake scenario 😊
Exactly Tennessee would die in ten hours from the ash lol but it’s a good movie!
Would that include Fresno California?
@drowningpooralice5505 dniusuihndhjbuugbfbugnfyhyudbhud
Plot armor clear as day. Anyone that close to a super volcano eruption would most certainly have suffered pain and hearing loss from the sound alone. Though the 1000 miles is up for debate due to insufficient evidence of super volcano eruptions
i like how a ball of fire hit the back of the camper while driving and he kept going like nothing had happened. In real life that would have sent them flying to jupiter.
To be fair you’ve never been hit by a ball of fire
You don't know that. You don't know what kind of life he lives 😅
It is insane to me this is the only movie ever made that explores the idea of Yellowstone erupting
Yea it’s just random, fictional regular volcanoes but never explored a Super Volcano, 2012 would be AWSOME if more were explained
There was a movie called Supervolcano in 2005
@JaneXemylixaWasn't that technically a miniseries?
It's a tv show of... variable quality, but Van Helsing is set in a world where Yellowstone erupting causes a dust cloud thick enough to block the sun to the point that vampires can come out during the day, leading to the immediate collapse of human civilisation and a lot of murdering
This movie was a testimate to the travel power of one man and his family. Went across the world in two hours. lol
to be fair, the tectonic plates did shift in this movie, so in the movies universe it's possible :p
It's the curse of that plane... sure it can fly at super sonic speeds... but only when it's not flying
Credit where credit is due, the fact that the planet's crust was slipping means that the family's destination kind of came to them instead!
This goes to show anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
SPQSpartacus😂
1:15 - Gotta love how every second counts, yet they politely stopped at the log 😂
In the game of 'Drink Every Time Something Scientifically Inaccurate Happens' you'd be dead in the first 2 minutes of this movie. Love.
I love how as soon as Charlie saw the daughter he dropped the crazy ant told where the map was.
I guess he realized what was at stake and no longer wanted to show off.
"Just look at me! Look at me, do I look scared?!"
"YUHUH?!"
5:30 Obi-wan: Not to worry.. We're still driving half of a Winnebago.
I knew someone was gonna reference this xD
Good thing pyroclastic flow isn't hot.
Lol, not hot at all! Ask the residents of Pompeii or Herculaneum. They weren’t *completely* cooked…
15 year anniversary 2012 (2009)
Lol the dangers this family survive are beyond ridiculous
It’s almost like it’s a Hollywood movie and not a documentary
Salty step dad like "aight thats it kid"
The dads driving skills are absolutely insane
"YOU HEARD IT FIRST FROM CHARLIE!!!" *damn*
with this movie I finished all my storage of suspension of disbelief but ok it's entertaining
Suprised more people aren't talking about the sound.
Nevermind the shockwave, or that the caldera itself is way larger than depicted, but the sheer sound of the blast would have killed everyone easy within 100 Miles of the explosion.
6:47 I would have just took all the maps gawdsakesssss 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
While his ex watched him from the airplane window, did anyone else half expect John Cusack to climb up out of the fiery chasm holding a boombox above his head?
SkipAd_VegasI see what you did there 😂
This movie is nearly 20 years old
mobile network connections are awesome
The fact that this could happen in many years to come and plunge the earth into a new apocalyptic ice age is crazy and bad. That is what they don’t show after the movie.
Well, we won't be here for that
7:19 Noah : THIS IS MY DAD WERE GONNA WAIT !! Gordon: 🙄
Yep lol had that "Well those were not the right words little pal" 😂😂
those were not the right words, little pal.'' (Nerd Emoji 🤓)
Never date or marry a single mom.
They survived the eruption/shockwave of a super volcano😂
Plot armor is so real here xD
3:24 how my stomach feels after drinking two bottles of water
… are you okay??
“He’s my dad, we going to wait!!”❤️
Btw if we ever were to face some super volcanic eruption of that magnitude, the rocks and magma falling down would be the last of your concern as the sound wave would probably kill everyone in a very large radius :D
This gave me a mini hert attack 😂
Disaster movies take the plot armor to a whole new level
I would've just taken all the maps and looked through them on the plane.
Until this, I've never rooted for a volcano before.
"Remember, folks, you heard it first from Charlie!"
*Levitates and dies*
To be honest, the sheer amount of plot armor would allow you to survive a million shots to the head.
6:25 why the hell did he stopped so far away from the plane
"Run, we're running out runway"
Why did the idiot freaking stand on the hill because I watched this with science
This is my favorite scene of the movie.
Besides spontaneious combustion there are too many impossibilities in this scene xD
I hate how they don’t follow the speed of sound
Jackson drove to Charlie to ask him for the map
The most unrealistic part about this scene is the fact that the plane is even remotely stable. The air turbulence from a massive volcano erupting like that would have made flying pretty much impossible.
You must be fun at parties
Assuming they go to parties
As if anything about this movie is realistic.
Everything is unrealistic in this movie
Yes but you forgot that the neutrinos had mutated which changes physics for air travel and causes buildings to fall in extremely slow motion as cars crash through them and avoid being crushed by the upper floors the whole distance.
This is a true story 😊
They should remake this movie but full on rated R
My sister was fascinated by natural disasters and especially Yellowstone at the time. I remember getting out of the theater, then calling my sister and telling her that she had to watch this movie based on that scene alone.
Is that Woody Harrelson??
Yea
😮
Yep
Who else? 😂
Wow did not know this was him before zombie land
"bring back my child now"...............is the most motherly thing a woman can say when in a panic. that shit was visceral
Disgusting. "My child" FFS! It's HIS child!
Bro, the amount of trauma these kids have is so big that even therapy can't solve
Yes
4:46 😂😂😂 😱🤯🤯🤯 *BRING IT ON!!!!*
Lol
there is no way the RV got out of range of the volcano.
“Look at me! Do I look scared?”
“uh huh”
*This is the most realistic thing in this movie*
"This is the last day of the United States of America".
Nov 5th, 2025? Yep.
That sounds good to me
Finally 😂
4:59 Volcano 🌋 A Perfect Planet
The only thing that makes me watch this movie over and over again are those incredibly cool special effects.
The science sux.
Gotta watch out for those mutating neutrinos. LOL
RIP Charlie one of my fav crazy men he was living his dream
And all the dust of the eruption didn’t mess up with the airflow of the engines? 🤔😂
The little kids added an unwanted level of annoyance for me. The multiple shots of seeing their faces in the confined plane window, the multiple cuts to the kids screaming, "Daddy," it was a sequence that, if cut 90%, would still deliver necessary tension.
Nah, that made it more real. They behave like actual children losing their shit and screaming irrationally
And ending the movie on a line about diapers, wtf
@jschnei3, yeah, it was a frustrating movie to watch. Some fantastic scenes with a bunch of forced family drama to run the screen time.
@gwibblegloop, hmm, the target demo should have been people that want to see disasters, not the desperate, forced child drama.
Well if anyone went out with a bang, its was Charlie
Asmongold Cameo was Wild!
Insane movie
Hope he got his Junior Ranger Badge.
Madhouse, vulkan erupts like a nuclear bomb)))
Physics people in the comments lol, relax it’s a movie. They’re meant to be enjoyed and used as a time to escape the real world. If these movies were realistic, they would be 3 minutes long.
But they are set in the real world, so they have to have some semblance of similarity to the real world. Otherwise, your brain doesn't connect. The majority of people get this, and that was why this movie was disliked by most.
@JJ-iu5hlstill a movie 💀, LMAO
@shamartherealestsavage ya... And still [insert my exact comment from before], because I already addressed that.
@JJ-iu5hl Yeah,but simply still a movie worth my 3rd grade time 😂
@shamartherealestsavage Didn't realize you're in the 3rd grade. In that case, it makes sense for you to be saying all this. Carry on, and enjoy the movie. You'll realize how ridiculous it was when you're older. All the best, ✌🏼
Realistically everyone in this scene would have been dead from the sound of the eruption or incinerated.
The Krakatoa eruption's shock wave went around the earth 3 times
People in Australia heard it
Scientists estimate Yellowstone would be 100 TIMES as powerful
So everyone will be dead in the first millisecond
And the eruption would destroy the entire state within an hour
Allof them would have been deaf by the sound blast, at the very least if not dead.
May be a completely fictional and unrealistic take on a yellowstone eruption but its still a impressive scene.
IT'S JUST A MOVIE!!!! 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
I knew haymitch was always crazy
Quick reminder Yellowstone is overdue eruption
1) no explanation how did he got off the cliff, just a heroic hand appearing
2) no explanation how did he outrun a take-off plane
3) no explanation how did the exhaust pipes of the plane not clogged by the enormous dust
4) no explanation how the seconds add up, between the running fumes, the fire, the plane , the take off procedure, and the searching for the map inside the van.
Bogus!
I was also thinking how did he hang to the cliff from inside the van like that😂
Bruh didn’t even add the fact that in actuality, they would all just be dead as soon as the volcano popped
Shut up 😂😂😂😂
The entire premise of the movie was insanely stupid (I know people who bought into the Mayan calendar nonsense), but the movie itself was just regular ole Hollywood nonsense. It was entertaining, and it's best left at that.
Its a movie, not a documentary.
BRO I AM ABT TO CRYYY
Its a guilty pleasure to watch this. All you need to do is turn reality completely off...like when watching political campaigns...I don't even want to watch the Cinema Sins against it...but it must be over 1000.
I bet Woody Harrelson survived...
A kid like this in this situation is just annoying element!
Yeah it is
Yo what is lightning McQueen talking about?
It's like if you put these people in this scenario and ran it a million times this was the one time they actually made it
This is a warning actually.. Yellowstone is a super volcano
Why bro could off turn around the plane to save the man??
Огород 154а всох коричневые небо
❤❤❤😢😢😢
3:55 in the mighty words of cinemas sins: FUCKING RUN!!!
Bro must be the camera man
😢
8:58 that plane would've burned to a crisp irl
This is a total no way, but only in Hollywood.
That guy is crazy right
Aight
The destructed device absorb energy of the destructed he can add cosmic energy to the destructor device
