Great info, thanks! I've been through cardiac rehab, and it really does help get you back into shape. In your opinion, are there more risks for complications from surgery (bypass or stent) when you're over 70 like I am? I'm looking at possible stent surgery pretty soon, so I was just wondering.
@@PrevMedHealth Thanks for the info. My last stent was to improve quality of life. I couldn’t exercise without chest pain before. After the stent I could exercise without any angina. But your point is well taken.
Because of the radiation therapy I had to the chest in 1979, I was recently diagnosed with radiation-induced heart disease. After a lot of PubMed searches and reading, I had open-heart surgery (2 valves, x3 bypass, and Commando procedure for calcified annulus and leaflets) done in September at the age of 60 at the Cleveland Clinic. The breathing exercises that doc Brewer recommends post-op should also be done daily for weeks pre-op, if possible; this is considered "prehabilitation," and there are many published, randomized controlled studies showing that working with a spirometer before surgery reduces respiratory complications, like pneumonia. My surgery went very well even though the surgical load was heavy, and my recovery has been good b/c of my walking, breathing exercises... Thanks doc B for an important reminder.
Thank you so much I just recently had a heart attack and a stent put in but even though I pay $500 a month and healthcare I’m not covered for cardiac rehab. I appreciate you putting this out there.
Thanks for the video, I recently had mirror valve replacement surgery. All is going well and your advice is spot on, just wish I didn't have this ticking in my ear from the mechanical valve!

In most (>90%) do not help. They don't prevent heart attacks. See my videos on the ORBITA, COURAGE, & ISCHEMIA trials.
>90% are done to prevent heart attacks. But they don't do that. (ISCHAIA, COURFAE, & ORBITA trials.
