It's interesting to see how a restaurant in the US does it. I haven't tried a Korean restaurant in the US, but I ate at a Korean BBQ place in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang, China many years ago. It was a fascinating and different kind of experience. The grills at each table weren't gas or electric. Servers brought out deep metal pots filled with hot coals and placed them in holes in the table before replacing the grills on top. I remember we turned small pieces of sliced meat and sweet potatoes on the grill using our chopsticks. I had never seen anything like it. I hope I can go back to visit China someday, and I would also love to visit South Korea.

Oh man I'm hungry, that looked like a meal for 10. Dang girl where are you putting it? Lol.
I have always noticed that even though Asians are quite small , they eat alot!
Audrey Hepburn blamed the malnutrition she endured as a child for her health problems as an adult. That all looked so very good. I am hungry now. 😄 Hopefully the restaurant staff will recognize the celebrity when she goes in next time.
Yeonmi Park is not popular with South Koreans, she lost her celebrity status in South Korea years ago
@@Steveinthailand very interesting
Hello Yeonmi, I hope you are well. I am on chapter 7 of your book and still reading. Very educational and changes my perspective on topics. Thank you for sharing your story. From watching some of your blogs, I am also curuious about your youtube camera. Can you put a link below on where to possibly purchase it?
Haven't had any Korean food since working in the ROK years ago. Might be time to circle back around.
love you from pakistan.......very nice vlog
She sends no love to Pakistan. Pakistan is nothing but a slave to the Chinese.
Is Korean bulgoki the same in north and south korea? I learned from a South Korean woman. Both bulgoki and bbq bulgoki (my fave) we also go for the beef or the pork (also my fav!) *tenderloin*
Ive had Bulgoki in both South and North Korea, i prefer the North's, it's more authentic
@@Steveinthailand Korea has been historically poor, so you are correct that poor North Korea would have more authentic Korean food. However, most people would prefer South version far better with modern infusion of best from all regions of Korea. Only those paid by fatso dictator would say he likes North version.
@@mychevysparkevdidntcatchfi1489 North Korean cuisine in South Korea is actually a hit right now in Seoul, especially since Crash Landing on You. Even in Japan, the trend for original North Korean food is booming: ruclips.net/video/qBfyIQbxXPs/видео.html
I'm glad you made it out of North Korea alive, you certainly had angels watching out for you, blessings from 🇨🇦, hope you get a chance to visit Canada one day.
✨Obsessed with her outfits✨
Great to see your new world
Yeonmi's rocking that leather! 💃
So happy for her she can enjoy a delicious meal in freedom.
The best is Cha Dol bbq: simple tender meat, sesame oil, sea salt, green onions. This is probably the actual authentic Korean BBQ before South Korea became rich and put all kinds of stuff in it.
That was a good video. Thumbs up.👍
Dear Yeonmi, I fully appreciate that you are an individual living in a relatively free society and respect that you may choose to promote what ever you choose (including yourself) in the public domain, but this video diverges greatly from the basis on which you started this channel, and for those who had watched your earlier videos, and were about to commit some serious though to those who are struggling in North Korea, it comes as a proverbial slap in the face.
I seriously plead you consider catching a grass hopper, roast it lightly, and while you chew on it consider creating a new channel such as "Yeonmi does Dallas" for content such as in this episode, and reserve this space for the humanistic issues.
Re: the "does Dallas" reference; please ask a Native (American) English speaking friend for a reference to this; I meant it as a sarcastic/ironic comment rather than anything personal; keep up the good work.
P.S.even the walls have ears,
And those ear are ringing
Keep your head to the wall,
Inside the Mortar there is talk about ...
Lean your head to the wall
Hear you, hear me, hear who?
Scream you, scream me, scream who?
This can't be happening, this can't!
This can't be happening, this can't!
This can't be happening, this can't!
In the beauty of my home
In the beauty of my home!
Scream!!!! ... Who????
Thanks for the recommendation, Yeonmi. I go to Michigan State University, so I'm only a few hours away from Chicago. Will definitely check this place out when I visit the area.
I wish I had found this place when I lived in Chicago, it looks so good! 👍
Great video! I'm getting hungry 😩! I remember eating some roasted acorns as a kid around the holidays 😋
Lol You know us Americans Looove food! Great video👍 (who is you dinner companion?)
Thank you for this introduction to Korean cuisine. I have wanted to visit a Korean restaurant in the Bay Area, but I didn’t know what to order.
Korean food is one of the best. I love the presentation of it all and that it is cooked right in front of you so get to see it. Made me hungry for Korean food. Yummie!

I live in Chicago so I definitely have to check this place out. Thankyou Yeonmi!♥️🇰🇵. The restaurant is Cho sun ok
Can you please make a video on what you use for your skin because I've watched all your interviews and your skin is always glowing.
Nice to see the Korean food, which I love.
That cold soup looks amazing. I'm looking forward to eating Korean food again.
Compared to North Korea the USA and South Korea are lands of plenty. We have so much! I hope one day the North Koreans can enjoy the same prosperity that we have.
First I laughed, then I cried. So much emotion bound to having enough food compared to plenty of exquisite food. You open my eyes.
You have to get Mexican food when you are in Chicago. La Pasadita at Ashland and Division. Arturos Tacos at Western and Armitage.
adorable Yeonmi
I thought for years that kimchi and udon noodles were Vietnamese because a lady from Vietnam cooked me fried udon and warm fresh kimchi so good. It was life altering. I had no idea it came from China and Korea ya? ❤️ My all time favorite.
@@gunnarraiden5400 Awww thanks Gunnar. I am not fully blind. Most people even when visually impaired can see somethings. About 90 percent or more see a lil something. So while I would love if Jesus could help heal my congenital heart stuff. The eyes thing you learn to accept you know. Thanks for the compliment. Be well! Stay safe!
@@gunnarraiden5400 God Bless you! 🤗
Not China, Korea. Also, kimchi isn't usually served warm.
@@keahidean4642 The Udon noodles are originally from China ya? And yes it is usually served cold. But it got warmed up from the pan fried noodles I think 🍜 😊
