Gday Robbie, Saturday we went out along the Murray and were catching around a dozen shrimp every 1/2 hour. We were using chicken carcasses as bait. Great video by the way
I keep my shrimp in a 2 foot fish tank. About 100 or so with a filter pump to keep them clean and pump air into the tank. Also, i keep about 15 yabbies in another 2 foot tank with a filter so that I can always have fresh live bait. I've got a pond as well, with some spangled perch, some little rainbow fish, guppies, and some goldfish, and I even ha e an eel tail catfish in there and I usually chuck a fee small shrimp and yabbies in there for the fish to eat as well as feeding them worms and fish food pellets. Love your videos, mate. I li e in southeast Queensland, so we don't really get carp or red fin up here but plenty of yellow belly, catfish, and bass and small spangled perch and silver perch. Heaps of shrimp up here, though. Usually, go down once or twice a week to get shrimp for bait. Plus, they make a great addition to my cold, fresh water tanks.
I catch heap of the long arm freshwater shrimp down at the creek 15 minutes from home. I always go down at night with my fishing net and scoop them up. Usually, I come home with 100 or so. I'm going to head down tonight to get some more decent size ones so me and my old man can go yellow belly fishing tomorrow night. I've been catching yellow at around 8 pm at the creek lately.

Fish frames are good
Found it! Nice one
Thanks mate.
I've got one called something like "How to make a bait trap" or "How to make a shrimp net" or something similar. If you search that with robbiefishing in the search you will find it.
Hey Robbie I thought those nets were banned?
Hi mate these bait traps are fine. It is the opera house nets that are illegal. That's in Victoria anyway. I dont know about other states.

Hi mate thanks so much for your kind words.

Dog or cat biscuits work great as bait in the nets too.
Thanks mate. Heaps of people have told me this tonight. LOL I think I need to give it a crack! Are dry biscuits best? Goodo's? LOL
robbiefishing Yeah just use any dry dog food. If you have a dog whatever you feed him/her would work fine. 👍🏻
How to care for 12 pet yabbies in a tank no filter or pump?
Watched, enjoyed, subscribed :-)
What species of shrimp is this?
Hi George, I think they are Macrobracheum Australianese.
@@robbiefishing Oh, so does it mean that they need brackish water for reproduction and the larvae can't survive in freshwater?
@@Someone-zx7xd Hey mate these are pure freshwater shrimp. They may even "technically" be a prawn.
@@robbiefishing I thought all species of the genus macrobrachium need saltwater, or at least brackish water, in early stages of their life.
Good video mate
Thanks heaps Colbey.
@@robbiefishing are you going to be at the Murry codference
Put some sope in there. They love it
what country is thsi
G'day mate, I am in Australia.

Soap and gum leaves work well
Nice
Thanks mate. 👍👍
@0:49 There are also man eating snakes and venomous crocodiles...
Can you eat freshwater shrimp?
Yep you sure can. I have actually cooked and eaten them twice on my channel.
this is the ONLY time an australian can talk about shrimp....everything else is not a goddamn shrimp .
I fail to understand what your getting at, as what you say make no sense to me (specifically)? Does not compute, maybe my head just needs more RAM to work it out.
@@CalaisRider its got to do with americans calling any kinda prawn or crayfish a shrimp.. when a prawns a prawn not a shrimp and a yabby is a ... well yabbie and shrimp are mostly in my mind fresh water shrimpy things. just means ur talking about shrimp(or yabbies) ..not prawns.. lol
we dont throw shrimp on the barbie ... we might cook prawns on one, but not shrimp
@@Lilamma- Ahh now I get it thanks for clarifying. Much appreciated. Doesn't take much to confuse us old fisher diehards.
@@CalaisRider hehe i speak to a fair few americans who ask if i eat shrimp and im like... eww no... there tiney and nothings on them... then they say they mean prawns and im like iv never called a prawn, shrimp in my life... and never will. thanks paul hogan...(look up paul hogans australian adds)
