- Here are some scenes in Disc 2 with Zell and his room during the Balamb mission to kick the Galbadia people out of town. Enjoy~! =)
We will first start with Quistis, then Selphie with 2 different reactions, to Rinoa, ending with Irvine. I saved his for last since he's got that funny gun shot blackout lol.
Apparently, you can bring Selphie to the party for Balamb. But afterwards I think she leaves again, and she is unable to use until we get back to Trabia Garden.

The entire game, all Zell wanted was to eat a hotdog. At the end of the game he finally ate a hotdog, but he choked on it.
That's cause he was fed like a plate of them and kept shoving before chewing. XD
The dialogue of Squall talking to himself in his head is the best thing about FF8.

Which is odd because Squall in particular had just been named the leader of SeeD at this point in the game (this after having just graduated shortly beforehand along with Selphie). Kinda hard to believe that he could get demoted by one of his own subordinates.

Wow, the only one that didn't disrespect the Zell in his own room was Rinoa.
Irvine didn't, he liked Zell's rifle collection, he just misfired the grandfather's gun.
I think it's because Rinoa doesn't know Zell very well so she tries her best to be polite.
@@cerealkiller1551 I don't think so Zell was probably one of Rinoa's closest allies excluding Squall. There are times when Zell was blaming himself that what if Galbaldia tries to attack Balamb. And Squall simply ignore Zell and that angers Rinoa. And there is one time when Rinoa was about to fall on a cliff during the battle of Gardens. Squall was busy of many of stuffs. He is the one who tell and was able to convince Squall to rescue Rinoa. And Zell was able to get Squall's ring for Rinoa.
I love the camaraderie between the characters! The way they tease and talk to each other, it's so lighthearted and heartening. I've always felt that FFVIII signifies the homecoming of the human spirit during the darkest time of our lives.
Well it was the best one after all. None after have been able to touch the character development that this game had.
@@nothertreeinbox FF8 was so poorly executed with the rushed production and the pacing issues, yet indeed it had the best character development as far as the whole team goes. Well of all the FFs I played anyways.

I've played Final Fantasy games for about 15 years, and not once have I ever regretted my decision to "Let Zell handle it".
I have.. once during that time with Lunatic Pandora lol
My favourite case of that is when you're in the Garden's sub levels and you have the option of sending somebody else up the ladder. Squall pauses to think for a moment: (Let's see. Rinoa or Zell. Rinoa. Zell.) "...you two wait here."
Also I do find it interesting how each other Seed gets a mission where got control them as leader, but only Selphie's actually goes well - mostly - while Quistis just leaves her post and almost doesn't make it, and Zell's mission (Lunatic Pandora sabotage) fails no matter what you do. It says some interesting things.
@@reloadpsi Irvine and Rinoa also fail their own goals at Deling. Selphie almost gets killed during her successful mission. So, Squall is actually someone extraordinary.
@@Gldmrd They do, but they're not Seeds anyway. And yeah while Selphie nearly dies, she doesn't. She succeeds in her mission, ultimately.

Selphie is the best, not only she can end a boss fight in one move but she can actually lower your seeD rank, awesome

Personally, I like the Irvine one the best. I love how he just nerds out over rifles, and then he probably breaks something when he tries to fire one, and Squall's just like "DON'T LOOK AT ME, I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN!". XD

AsterOrca | Zell is one of those nerdy kids who try to achieve something so hard. Personally, it's a wonder on how he wasn't made to be such an otaku. I mean, he got a clean room.

Zell has always been one of my favourite characters from Final Fantasy. I just really enjoyed his personality.
I never realized that this dialogue varied so much based on the party members you had with you.
This game is filled with tonnes of scenes like this. It's a treasure trove of hidden content.

This scene brings up to me some old memories...when I was playing FF8, it was like I was somehow living the game and felt really connected to the story and the characters, even if it was far from being the best FF. I am really fond of this game

I can just see Zell going when it comes to Selphie being on his bed 'Look, its not that i don't want a cute girl on my bed i dont want YOU on my bed i already have a girl that likes me.. now the LIBRARIAN on the other hand, she can stay on my bed all she wants' (im such a shipper of Zell and The librarian i call her Sabrina since the game dosen't give her a name)
This kinda proved that Selphie is a Haruhi Suzumiya type character. I mean, her Limit Break is THE END. So Final Fantasy VIII is just her world.

Very nice video. Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite game and even I had only seen two of those scenes (the one with Linoa and the one with Quistis).
Love how Selphie apparently somehow has authority to demote Zell and Squall... especially since Squall is SeeD commander by that point in the game.
I also really like Squall sassing Zell in the scenario with Linoa. It goes to show that as cold, distant and professional as he usually is, he does have a sense of humour.
And as much of a klutz as Irvine was in his scene, you've got to wonder what is wrong with Zell for keeping those guns loaded. he doesn't even use them in combat so what's the point?

SsnakeBite | Selphie ≈ Self. It's subtly implied that Selphie is actually the Ruler of the Final Fantasy VIII's World; meaning she literally can almost do anything she likes with it.
SsnakeBite | Yeah, then there's that scene when Squall carried around the unconcious Rinoa. Showing that he actually prefers to be refered as an Asocial Bad Boy rather than someone who can befriended with, mostly because he feels uncomfortable with on how to deal with people next.
SsnakeBite | Irvine most likely loaded the ammo into those guns. The scene turned black. Of course, it's possible that the scene wasn't supposed to turn black, but got edited that way because… Most Gun Collectors don't load ammo into their guns.

These little giggles and animated motions add life to the characters and because of their humanoid proportions these snippets of animations bloom really well. Something that was missing in 7 and couldn't properly bloom on 9

LOL, that was neat! The snippet between Squall and Rinoa was pleasantly unexpected. I guess the romance plot /does/ make a little more sense if you keep Rinoa in your active party.
Yeah, that's why it always confused me when people said the romance came out of nowhere in disc 3. I had Rinoa in my party for most of the game and the cute banter between them definitely felt like a developing relationship to me.
Sue 99 | Most likely because Disc 3 is when things started to go heavy. FF8 probably was meant to be a 3 Discs game like FF7, but it got overextended into a 4 Discs game.
chiidawg | Not really, Rinoa's comment is just a light comment. Here feels like we were supposed to Squall's room instead of Zell's. Imagine visiting Squall's house, only to find out that he is a very clean person unlike his bad boy image in school.

Spirit RoseWolf | Maybe in one of the new games? In Final Fantasy VIII, none of the characters have any voice actor/actress. Though they do have face actor/actress to potray their emotion in their faces.
That being said, it's possible that they planned Takahiro Sakurai to voice for Zell. But when it never it realized, they gave him Cloud instead to voice for.

I got this feeling that this was supposed to be a 'Let's visit Squall's room'. But got edited into a 'Let's visit Zell's room'.
Nah, all game long up to that point he made a big deal about not letting you up there because it was his room.
I remember my first time playing FFVIII I actually was pretty horrible, so I relied on my Guardian Force, (espers for you plebs.) and never got much money, so I couldn't buy or upgrade anything later on, and ending up giving up, cause my stuff was so low tiered, and I didn't understand how to efficiently level stats.
But it is a great game.. but not something an 7 year old with a learning disability should play...
(especially since that 7 yr old, deleted his dad's near perfect save file.)

She is resting. But only in Balamb you are able to use her as a party member.

@@gargervon8697 Yeah she's only "resting" because its the first time you can travel around the world and you technically could go straight to Trabia.
But once you get locked in Balamb thats where she's available and right after this mission she wants to go to Trabia lol

I've played VIII several times and I've never seen these. I usually get the boring one.
Did the screen goes black was added during the edit? Did Irvine loaded his own ammo or was the ammo already there? I mean based on the amount of time, it seems to be short for him to load the ammo.
Most Gun Collectors don't have their displayed guns loaded with ammo, it's just common sense. But… this is Zell we're talking about.
