+Chris Ray Gun Ahh the good ole' days before we had to look forward to the boring I, Robot movie storyline. I wanna beat up some covies with my UNSC buddies on a warthog exploring the Halo universe. Not being trapped in a room with a locked door with Cortana spawning Wardens.
well he was on the ring shot and slid off the platform, master cheif and the arbiter where the only oned to get off and that was with a warthog and very close timing so I doubt he did make it off
he was back stabbed while he thought he was cover by 117 and the Arbiter just after what I feel like someone he might truly love. Hes mind was right and death caught him when he wasn't looking
I love how in halo wars 2, they made him a leader mainly because of how much everyone loves him. One of the things he can even say when you put him on the field as a hero is: *"No, your eyes don't deceive you, it's really me!"*
+The True Gamerz Dynamite You should read "Halo: The Flood". While partially a retelling of Halo CE, it also contains a lot of other perspectives, including Private Jenkins'. I won't spoil things, but you'd be pleasantly surprised by what you find ;)
god no penkins came from a family of Farmers and Harvest's malitia was just 4 unsc personel Sgt's burn and johnson a captain ONI Agent Al-Cygina and 60 Native-Harvest soldiers.
The summary at the end really captured all that Johnson was a part of. He helped helm the first steps into what became the Spartans, he shot the first shots at the Covenant, he aided in hundreds of battles throughout the war and witnessed it all end as well. Johnson was one of the better characters in the Halo universe, and I hope we get plenty more like him in the future~
I love the creative names of the spaceships in Halo Truth and Reconciliation Ascended Justice Long Night of Solace Shadow of Intent Foward unto Dawn The Pillar of Autumn The Unyielding Heirophant
The ship names are incredibly clever. I'm partial to the Kig-Yar (Jackal) ship that ends up at the center of the start of the War, ironically called "Minor Transgression." And of course, don't forget IMHO the best ship name, the small stealth cruiser used by the female ONI "Spook" that Johnson sleeps with as everyone flees Harvest, called "Walk of Shame." The walk that most everyone who spent time in college (And others) knows so well. 😂

This here is 66 tons of straight-up, H.E-spewing dee-vine intervention! If God is love, then you can call me 'Cupid'!” "Stay with the master chief, he'll know what to do".
Does anyone else want a game where you play as Johnson through the entire human covenant war I think that would be amazing we could see the perspective of the war from someone who was alive during all of it
He's also in the novel Halo: Silent Storm, the events of which aren't covered here. In that book, in 2526, Johnson takes part in Operation: SILENT STORM, a counterattack designed to buy humanity some time and he becomes a friend and mentor to the Master Chief. He's noted as the one person they're sure they can trust on the mission. Johnson also plays a big role in the Master Chief's promotion to Master Chief.
Hell yeah, good idea with contact harvest too! He could even bump into Sgt. Forge there. They could definitely make it happen just like they did with ODST.
Keith Streetman wtf did you really say a spartan I???? master chief is a SII and the spartan I program never succeeded so there is no spartan ones learn your halo history fellow brother in gaming
john mcmurray actually the Orion project was absorbed into the Spartan program when the Spartan 2 program began and the Orion project was retroactively renamed Spartan 1. Spartan 2's were built on the learning and failures of the Orion project, so yes Johnson was a Spartan 1. The biological children of Spartan 1's are also called Spartan 1.1's, they poses many enhancements over average humans such as: increased; strength, speed, reflexes, hearing, vision, healing, intelligence, lung capacity, balance. immunity to disease. require less sleep. inability to become drunk.
I would love a game set on Harvest where we play as johnson, or during any of the battles. you could be a little stronger and faster because you are a Spartan 1.
+Zelousmarineinspace Halo Wars is not an actual part of the halo timeline, the battle of harvest may have involved some things mentioned in the first few missions of halo wars, but anything else, no.
Cortana: the message just repeats Regret Regret Regret Miranda Keyes :and idea what it means? Sgt Johnson: Dear Humanity we regret being alien bastards, We regret coming to earth and we most differently regret the core just blow up our raggedy ass fleet hoorah LOL
To be fair I honestly doubt chief is the greatest hand to hand fighter majority of the times he lets his weapons do the talking after all he did lose to that one major elite in _The Package_ in an energy sword fight.
honestly I play call of duty more than I do halo these days. but I will always love halo more for it was my first FPS and I freakin love the entire universe
Sergeant Avery Johnson who is no more than a peak condition human being with some augmentations but not quite superpowered is absolutely more than capable of destroying competent advanced superhumans like John-117
One of his fondest memories as a child were getting dressed to go to church for the first time, as his aunt raised him as a good Christian boy. It makes his “If God is love, then you can call me Cupid” quote even better. Dammit, this franchise has such great characters
He's confirmed as a Spartan-I in the novel Halo: Silent Storm, the events of which aren't covered here. Fans speculated on that for years before that.
What would be cool is if in Halo: Infinite one of the troops seen in the trailer on the Halo ring is Johnson's kid and they introduce themself to the chief by saying something like 'You knew my father, Sgt. Avery Johnson'.
For me personally, Johnson was one of my favorite parts of the original Halo Trilogy. I was 19 or 20 when I first played through the entirety of Halo 3 and I almost wept like a baby when he told Chief to “…send me out… with a Bang.” I didn’t realize how emotionally invested I had become to Johnson’s character until that moment.
Halo Canon Well regardless of his resistance or lack thereof, it probably wouldn't be able to produce a cure to the Flood although I'm still convinced there is one but Bungie disliked the idea of one and basically retconned Johnson's immunity out of canon at the time and 343i seems to flipflop back and forth with the possibility of a cure.
@ 5:20, you say that Johnson was able to escape the Flood ambush because of his ONI augmentations from ORION. In Halo: First Strike, Dr. Halsey explains to the Master Chief that Johnson survived because of Boren's Syndrome. Which, in Dr. Halsey's words, is "caused by exposure to high-yield plasma. Like the burst released by a Covenant plasma grenade." Dr. Halsey says this was the reason that the Flood didn't infect him because the syndrome "disrupts the electrical signals in a person's nervous system." Dr. Halsey also says that the Flood infects its hosts by "forcing a resonant frequency match to each host's neural system." MC then says "And the Sergeant's nervous system is so jumbled that the Flood couldn't force a match?" Dr. Halsey confirms this and continues to explain more. If you want to see for yourself, the pages are from the bottom of 293 to 295 in Halo: First Strike
You are technically correct, but Bungie retconned that out with Boren's Syndrome being an ONI cover up for the mental rewiring caused by Project Orion (mentioned in this video) and 343 decided to keep it in as a mild resistance.
4:44 not sure if that's canonically right. In Halo: Combat Evolved Johnson had a number of non-canon appearances throughout the campaign, and in Halo: The Flood it was a team of ODSTs that aided the Chief in rescuing captain Keyes.
I'm not sure but wouldn't his appearences in the game be considered true canon? I'm not a huge Halo buff and it's been forever since I read the old version of the Halo books but I do remember him helping you out in that mission to save Keyes the first time around (before the flood) unless it was just him dropping you off.
Jason Aguilar Johnson wasn't a major character in Halo CE. Not including cutscenes he appeared in levels Halo, Truth and Reconciliation, Assault on the Control Room and 343 Guilty Spark (may have appeared in more but I cant remember). Canonically he couldn't possibly have been in Assault on the Control Room because he was with Keyes during the time of the Silent Cartographer, which lead to the Flood being unleashed. Also all the marines that came onto the Truth and Reconciliation with the Chief were killed by a Zealot in the ship's control room while waiting for the Chief to return with Keyes, and as we know Johnson survived Halo so he couldn't have been there. One appearance that we know is definitely not canon is the legendary ending of Halo CE.
+Halo Canon fair enough, it puts the Battle of Installation 04 in better context I guess. This was my favorite history video you've done, so I'm not disappointed with the final result.
Of all the characters that have died in the books and the games, I just wish someone would bring this one man back to life. I miss this dudes presence in the video games and have always taken a liking to his background. It's such a shame that he was killed by that bastard guilty spark
He survived because he was resistant to Flood infection, and then just fought his way out of the Flood containment facility. I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to the Truth and Reconciliation. That's set before the Flood levels.
on 343 Guilty Sparks level, Keyes was there with Fire Team Charlie being ambushed by Infection form, I was just wondering how did he fought his way out on Flood Containment before him becoming a Proto-Gravemind on Truth and Reconciliation's Control room.
Yohanes Evan Oh Keyes! Sorry, read that as Johnson for some reason :P Anyway, Keyes didn't fight his way out, he was captured by the Flood. Possibly because of his knowledge, he was then taken to the captured Truth & Reconciliation to become the base for a Gravemind.
***** That was a cover-up to hide the fact that Johnson was a Spartan-I/ORION candidate. It's revealed in Halo: Contact Harvest and a bonus page in the Halo Graphic Novel.
***** Nothing really changes even though Johnson's resistance is due to his ORION augmentations. We don't know that what happened to him happened to other ORION candidates, or that it would be replicatable.
If he had survived Halo 3 and became a Spartan 4 would his Orion augmentations allow him to wear some form of Mjolnir armour or would he also need new spartan augmentations
The only thing halo 4 did right: Have an Easter egg of of Sgt. Johnson. If you don't know what I'm talking about there's that one mission when you fly the Pelican. Play that mission legendary and kill everyone in the hanger. Then sergeant Johnson will come out of nowhere and try to kill you.
Sgt. Major Avery Junior Johnson was a Spartan - I (Might I add a very good one) and therefore... Spartans Never Die... They are only missing in action. Sgt. Johnson, I hoped you enjoyed your bang. Statues: MIA/KIA
I like to say that somewhere out there is an Avery Johnson III and that someday he will sign up for the Spartan IV program only to have half the UNSC give him condolences for his Father.
"Dear humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming down to earth, and most certainly we regret that the corp. just blew up our raggedy ass fleet!" -Johnson

lol such a classic line already that is just so good.

OMG such a good line
Doctor Doughnut I know right I even quoted this line on War Thunder in the middle of a battle.
Poor Jenkins. Fought the covenant from 2525 to 2552 and still only a private.
27 years a private. Ugh.
Well maybe if he was FIRING HIS WEAPON
@@EpicBrony300 Dammit Jenkins!
His skill and exploits probably transcended his rank.
Well, the Marines are too slow to promote, and unfortunately the Army is good at promoting the wrong people, at least here in the Signal Corps.
People are saying "RIP Johnson". Mate he's not even born yet. One of us however might be his ancestor..... 🤔

especially if you kill him multiple times in CE
I love how in halo wars 2, they made him a leader mainly because of how much everyone loves him.

You are technically correct, but Bungie retconned that out with Boren's Syndrome being an ONI cover up for the mental rewiring caused by Project Orion (mentioned in this video) and 343 decided to keep it in as a mild resistance.
Covenant Soldiers get infected by the flood all the time, however, and they use plasma grenades willy nilly.
"Borens Syndrome" was a fake ailment name created to cover up his augmentations.
Everyone should tweet the devs and ask for another game w Johnson.
if god is love you can call hin cupid
what about that scarab??
Stay with the Chief, he'll know what to do.
+Trices Mailwind thanks for the tank he never gives me anything
Oh, I know what the ladies like.
Even as a kid, Johnson's death made me sad. Yo Halo 4 and 5, where my tears at?
Dear 343 please don't screw halo 3 anniversary and johnson's death up
Sharkboy1006 maybe it will we don't know at the moment
TJ Boyte I'm here from the future to tell you it didn't happen :(
le anonmoose I’m also here from the future to tell you it finally happened :)
Rest in Peace
*SGT. Avery Johnson Jr.*
2483-2553
4:44 not sure if that's canonically right. In Halo: Combat Evolved Johnson had a number of non-canon appearances throughout the campaign, and in Halo: The Flood it was a team of ODSTs that aided the Chief in rescuing captain Keyes.
I noticed that too, Halo The Flood, both the original and it's Definitive Edition, says it's Sergeant Parker.
+Sam Doo I this case I chose to stick to the games.
+Halo Canon fair enough, it puts the Battle of Installation 04 in better context I guess. This was my favorite history video you've done, so I'm not disappointed with the final result.
"They don't like dark meat" he said
"Send me out WITH A BANG"
Me:Necrophilia o.O?
Arbiter:You fool! He means to blow this place up!
Me: oh, okay...thank god
Sergeant Johnson was like almost 80 years old when he died. Jesus Christ that's old af to still be fighting.
I wish I could live in the Halo universe.... :'(
saem
but theres a war going on.
+C.Funk99 Yes, but in our world, there's an "Infinite War-..."
+jack duval No, no you don't.
Milesamanjaro "Infinite War" are you referring to Marvel's "Avenger's Infinity War"?
Of all the characters that have died in the books and the games, I just wish someone would bring this one man back to life. I miss this dudes presence in the video games and have always taken a liking to his background. It's such a shame that he was killed by that bastard guilty spark
Late 25th century? He was old! Like at least 53 during Halo CE damn
Older even. He was at least 75 during Halo CE.
Damn. What kind of face cream do they have in 2552. I want some.
+Einstien And Enfield It's called crying stasis, sounds a bit to flashy for my tastes
Crying stasis? What is that?
Einstien And Enfield God damn auto correct I meant to say cryo stasis
He had a lasting impact on a lot of us who played and he isn't even real.
So, what about keyes during the Containment's playback? How did he survived the flood ambush? and somehow he is on Truth and Reconciliation ship?
He survived because he was resistant to Flood infection, and then just fought his way out of the Flood containment facility. I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to the Truth and Reconciliation. That's set before the Flood levels.
on 343 Guilty Sparks level, Keyes was there with Fire Team Charlie being ambushed by Infection form, I was just wondering how did he fought his way out on Flood Containment before him becoming a Proto-Gravemind on Truth and Reconciliation's Control room.
Yohanes Evan Oh Keyes! Sorry, read that as Johnson for some reason :P
Anyway, Keyes didn't fight his way out, he was captured by the Flood.
He needs to come back he was so damn iconic for the series
Believe it or not, I just beat Halo 3 for the first time tonight. I was sad to see Sgt. Johnson die. That man was a HERO!
That Halo 3, Never Forget in the background...damn you..
+TheNightWolf I aim to make you feel :)
+Halo Canon you think Johnson would have been a spartan IV if he would have lived?
listen to the sgt johnson firefight voice previews on reach. best minute i've spent this year
Johnson's technically a SPARTAN so he'a MIA
Johnson, MC, and Arby are literally any Halo fans favorite characters.
If he had survived Halo 3 and became a Spartan 4 would his Orion augmentations allow him to wear some form of Mjolnir armour or would he also need new spartan augmentations
Man they should've gave Sgt Johnson ODST armor, then he'd be a beast!
rest in piece Sargent Johnson you fought well and died doing what you loved
he was one of my favorites in halo
I can seriously see young Johnson and him being a badass. He is the daedric of bad ass and kicking your ass.
Even if it's only for the multiplayer, it's nice to have SgtMaj Johnson back in Halo Wars 2.
Green Machine, oorah!
Wow Jhonson is immune to flood
He was a legend and a true hero. I salute you.
Amazing video and thank you for getting me up to speed on my favorite halo character of all time
Came here after the Halo Paramount series, man. I miss these books, this lore.
Johnson looks like such a badass brandishing that Spartan Laser... one hell of a way to enter your final battle. Go Sarge!!
I like to say that somewhere out there is an Avery Johnson III and that someday he will sign up for the Spartan IV program only to have half the UNSC give him condolences for his Father.
survived harvest, reach and the discovery of 2 halos dying at the ark... the best of badasses
Sgt major, give the man the respect he deserves
