Just want to say thank you SO much for these videos. I passed my NASM exam this morning all thanks to you. Watched this video no joke 20 times. You are a celebrity to me.
I just wanted to say, you might not see this, but I have been stressing about this exam the minute I scheduled it. I knew I would have to know proper postural alignment and how to identify weak or strong muscles, but I didn't think I could actually learn it. This video was SO helpful in the fact that I not only memorized it, but I was visioning exactly how you described it. So thank you, so much, from the bottom of my heart, for making such an informative video to help me. I passed the exam first try!
This what you are seeing is a masterpiece video on Overactive and Underactive Guys. I passed my exam because of this today which made me understand so easily after reading watching it many times. This video was a game changer for me and guys all of his videos regarding Examination is very informative. I’m grateful that’s all I can say to clear my exam on 29-11-23
Great video. It makes way more sense when you see the video with the vocab than just reading the text book. And the pace you are going makes it easier to comprehend . Thanks for sharing !!
This is the best & most comprehensive video I have seen on OHS. I really appreciate the little tid-bits of nuance that you mention/allude to in this video as well. Thank you for creating this!
The only comment I would have added to this video is mentioning that a person's anatomy may also influence how a person squats (in addition to muscles being overactive and/or underactive). I don't thinking going into detail on that would have been needed (or even feasible) for this video, but a quick mention would also be helpful for some viewers.
What a great teaching. Soooo helpful. Im a NASM qualified PT, so I know this assessment. This teaching is soooo helpful for me though. THANK YOU for this great teaching. Cole done a great job acting 😊
I’ve been studying rigorously for about a week now and I have come a long way and am now passing mock exams, but to see someone demonstrate the assessments, joint actions and everything else has really helped me retain the info that much better, and even points out what you’ll identify in the real world. This channel is super helpful!
Thank you for the breakdown for under active and over active… I took the test in March failed by 4 points and there was a lot of questions on this. I was getting them confused… but I understand now. Thank you again
Thank you for such a thorough review of the OHSA. It helped give me the “why” for the muscles that are over/under active, which helps me own the information rather than just memorizing it. I think your simplified explanations of how the kinetic chains affect the posture through transitional movements is missing in both NASM’s CPT and CES. I would like to see more realistic examples of these distortions from regular people who are not trained or experienced in proper squat techniques, more in line with what a trainer would typically encounter with an average client. Thanks for the fabulous work!
I love this video and am now a subscriber. You mentioned Cole's kick boxing videos. My daughters 15 and 17 are enrolled in Muay Thai classes and I not mind them getting some inspiration from Cole but there is not link to her videos. Were can I find those?
Hi friend, thanks for the helpful video. One thing I noticed on the Excessive Forward Lean is the graphic said Calf Muscles could be overactive. That seems counter-intuitive to me. I get the hip flexors and rectus abs since they are anterior & pulling forward and you covered that but didn't address the calves. How would tight calves actually increase forward lean? If you said tibialis, I'd get. I'm missing sth, lol.
Tight calves can't get adequate dorsiflexion at the ankle. Inadequate dorsiflexion at the ankle often results in the person leaning forward at the hips. That's why placing a riser under someone's heels often leads to a better squat. Check this out: ruclips.net/video/Z-E_9vEzRZg/видео.html
@@Axiomfitnessacademy Hey thanks for the reply! Pretty wild that putting the weights under the foot actually helps DEcrease forward lean; I expected the opposite. Just starting my study so much to learn. Again, appreciate all your help.
I really wish one of these awesome OHS assessment training videos would show someone who is not in the field doing the squats. I actually want to see what I'm looking for on people who are legit out of balance. It's not the same as someone simulating dysfunction.
Sort of. Larger muscles obviously have more *capacity* for strength. For example, the biceps will never be able to produce more force (strength) than the lats because physically they are much smaller and can't possible be grown as large.
Hi Aisha! I typically don't recommend any specific books, but rather suggest focusing on getting a lot of hands-on experience in the first 2 years. Even better if you can do it while working under another trainer that has years of success.
@@Axiomfitnessacademy Thanks Drake, currently using your content to prep for my Nasm test this week. Keep doing what you do, I'm sure we'll cross paths on this journey 💥

Always do the posterior view. I see hip dip or hip shift often from the rear view.
Great coaching! Very articulate. Thank you.

Using for NASM exam prep. Good video explains assessment. Note: people in the background are a little distracting
Thanks for the feedback, Kevin!
Love the girl taking the selfie around 18:35 😂
Omg THANK YOU!
Help you better understand it?
Thank you very much sir

so does this mean that some muscles by design are meant to be stronger than others?
Sort of. Larger muscles obviously have more *capacity* for strength. For example, the biceps will never be able to produce more force (strength) than the lats because physically they are much smaller and can't possible be grown as large.
Where did you buy those pants?
John, those are from Lululemon.
Isn’t is better to keep the toes slightly open when you squat?
Varies from person to person. but for the standard NASM Assessment it calls for straight ahead.
2:51 Areas of assessment. Just making a mark for myself for future reference
Love it
Hello Drake, what book do you suggest PT read after the NASM Cert to remain update?

Weren't her arms tired from keeping them up??
She's a boss.
@@Axiomfitnessacademy Yeah! but she did rest in between though. Maybe if she kept her arms up for entire video.
Nasm is awsome
