    Well that was a treat wasn’t it. Back where I think you really belong. Shooting beautiful vistas. Soothing as ever to watch too. Interesting how you chose a frame with less full on red colour than what the video suggested you would end up revealing. It just goes to show that shouty photos just ain’t your thing. I love the subtlety in what you processed. It feels peaceful and not something you would tire of looking at.

      Hey Simon, thanks for checking on buddy. It felt good to do this one, being back in my environment. I like the phrase shouty photos. In many ways I think this comes back to shooting your shots relative to your output... mine being large prints to be hung up. I agree that you do tire of shots which are too loud, too colourful and they can be too dominant when hung, which is why i do what i do and probably how i waited until this point to take the shot! Comes back in some way to that big f11 video i did all these years ago. = ) Hope you are well Simon. Might catch you in Harris later this year as i may be there at the same time! Ewan

    Nice to see you out again taking photographs, I love your style of presentation and explanation of what/why/How. I did go to the South island of NZ a couple of weeks ago, (6th time)...such a stunning place to be with my camera. Always trying to remember to enjoy the place and not just capture and image. Just starting to process some of the images. Yes, you are going to be very busy indeed, make sure you continue to photographe beautiful images as a therapy from the rigors of building houses. I spent 25+ years renovating my home when I had the time & funds, it's exhausting indeed.
    Like you say ... take care, keep shooting, have fun....looking forward to your next VLOG

    Ewan - Great to see you back! Thank You for providing the inspiration to get out there - I went off to the National Park around this time last year after watching one of your videos, I found myself standing in a field, just off the Desert Road at 5:30am in -8 degree temperatures, waiting for the sun to come up and drift over and paint the mountains in front of me it was epic! Thank You!! Good Luck with the new business venture! and I can't wait to see the next video. Cheers!

September is always problematic for getting bookings for accoodation for groups though. I usually only do 3 spaces on each workshop, but for an overseas one like this would have to open it up to eight or so, so as to make it financiqlly worthwhile (flights etc form NZ) Sure would be nice to have you along though. Love how the clouds almost echo the rocks perfectly at 17:45. Wonderful video Ewan. Just curious about the strap that hangs off your camera on the tripod. Does that ever impact the stability even slightly?

    • @EwanDunsmuirImages
      @EwanDunsmuirImages  3 месяца назад

      Hi there. I am SO GLAD you noticed that. I actually meant to narrate that in, but forgot. Really weird huh, as all of the rocks echo the foreground, particularly the one with the hump and the hook shaped rock. Its just a wrist strap, which i keep on there if im shooting with cold fingers, and i need to take it off the tripod. It doesnt actually, as the tripod is so heavy duty, nothing will move it when set up!

    • @EwanDunsmuirImages

      Morning Dominik. I usually try to shoot in the opposite direction to get these more gentle colours, caused by science. The direction or angle in relation to the sun will be determined by the scene, my position in relation to that and where the best colour for my scene is. It is certainly in that sphere though, which is in the opposite direction of the sun. Hope that helps. Regards, Ewan

      Hey Dennis. I think i have had this said to me before, but as an islander, I have always called them seagulls, and probably always will. I think if we did a straw pole on Orkney, Shetland, or some other islands, the results would be overwhelming. I do reflect on the previous occasion, that they get 'called' seagulls by people probably as there are gulls, which live on the sea and its fruits, rather than scavengers who live on the land.
