Wow, what a stunningly filmed video with heartfelt commentary. The soundtrack perfectly captured the mood of the film. Thank you for sharing. Cheers, Merv
Many thanks Mark. When you haven't shot for a while - it's actually quite difficult to get back into it. Just need to shoot more, I guess! Kind regards, Ewan
Absolutely gorgeous photos Ewan - thank you for sharing your stories as well. What a beautiful place to have grown up around. Can wait for more; but in the interim I'll be watching this one again.
A stunning place and in this video wonderful story telling and filmed beautifully. So pleased to hear that there is more to come from you. Well done Ewan.
Thanks Ewan for telling the stories of your homeland. A unique place indeed 👍 A panoramic shot, handheld….. steady hands indeed! Looking forward to your next episode … love the imagery 👏
HI Phil, Thanks mate - appreciated. Its a lovely spot and well worth a visit. I have a couple of more coming from there in the next wee while. Kind regards, Ewan
Fantastic video Ewan. As a Norwegian follower, that have visited Orkney by sailboat several times, its really nice to follow your story. Highlighting the special nature and history of this island community, combining it with local knowledge, childhood memories, capturing and recreating those memories. Its a very special place. Really nice. Thanks.
Hello there. Many thanks for your support and your comment. It certainly is an interesting culture and awesome place to grow up as a child. Kind regards, from NZ . Ewan
A beautiful advert for Orkney. My youngest daughter says she's going to pop up over a weekend as she's based in Aberdeen at the moment. Without romanticizing in any way I think people who are aware that they live on an island (i.e. not Mainlanders) have a realistic stoicism that they are not in complete control of everything around them. Something that we all can learn from.
Thanks Iain. I completely agree. Often the winter months, are endured, just to get to a more appreciated summer, if it comes! Im sure your daughter will enjoy herself. Regards, Ewan
Big E 😍🥰 You nailed that and to Cathnesians of a similar age it's still the Ola too! And to this old Caithnesian who remembers the novelty of polaroids under his oxter your sq interpretation and memory works well. Seeing the path up out of the bay reminds me of blowing like an old horse but the Old Man and St John's always makes it worthwhile, like yersel I always take in the wonder of St John's. Anyway a belter of a video well worth the wait and one to be proud of!
MOrning Andrew. Thanks mate and yep, always be the St Ola! I didnt find the walk too bad this time tbh. Taking your time is key i think. I enjoyed doing this one. Sorry for the looong delay. Take care until next time. Ewan

Hi Ewan. I watched this on the TV to do justice to your work, both videos and stills. The music was beautiful and so appropriate too. Thanks for sharing this video and I look forward to the next ones very much. A collaboration between you and Simon Booth would, I am sure, be outstanding, but I appreciate that would be unlikely. Kind regards - Robin
Hi Robin - many thanks indeed. I really appreciate it. The Simon Booth and I thing... thats maybe not as unlikely as you think. Simon and I have been talking about it for some time. Logistics are difficult, but on the cards for sure! Best wishes. Ewan
Hi Ewan: Thank you so much for sharing your passion for the Orkney Island. This is truly a very special place to you and it comes out in the way that you speak of the area and the images that you have captured. We will be in the Shetlands at the later part of May 2024 so I am really excited to see this part of the Scotland. Your images were amazing and I hope that they give you the same level of comfort and great feelings as your memories from your youth. Keep well. . . . Cheers, Keith (Canada)

Amazing video and awesome photos. Love seeing videos of Orkney, especially when all the places are pronounced correctly 😂. Used to spend summer holidays in Rackwick as well. The sand that squeaks when its dry always amused me. Great work, do you think you will be back in Orkney again?
Morning Ray, thanks very much. I appreciate your support. Pronunciation... yeah, i recking the Council should do phonetic translations on the place names and directional signs (Stromness ("Strumniss")) LOL Bets wishes, Ewan

Høy means tall in Norwegian. Take out the Ø and replace it with the more English friendly O and you have Hoy.
