Thanks so much! I wanted to convert a small box into a mini pochade but I was not sure what type of hinge to use, I am very glad you mentioned the torque hinge.
Small bit of advice,instead of putting card over the hole,just put some foam around the entire edge of the box as padding so it doesn’t slam shut,that will also cover the hole if I’m thinking right

Make a block or buy a block of paper. The glued edges keep the paper flat enough.
