That's because most shops in the Philippines are either owned by Chinese or have Chinese ancestors. Extra information: You'll also see lots of Muslim selling stuff.

If it's Divisoria you are near the port or Pier that's why there are a lot of merchandise unloaded in that market. It's a huge market.
