Just discovered your channel and actually like it. Appreciate your generosity and kindness, but don’t get yourself ripped off. Filipinos love to bargain, and they expect you to do so, which is why they initially ask for such a steep price. Learn how to get a fair and decent price, and don’t just accept their initial asking price. And when you ride the tricycle, always inquire about the fare before getting in and sitting down. If not satisfied with the quoted price, you can always walk away (and go to the next vendor, shop, driver, etc.) Will catch up and watch the rest of your vlogs…
Im watching this guy Because of 2 reasons: 1.He is passionate of all people around him and not scared because some people in binondo street/district are pickpockets and etc. but overall their nice 2. and lastly i want to go Binondo or everywhere in the manila but there is a Coronavirus..and the restriction as well.....we used to have a "Puwesto" or "Tindahan" in Divisoria 3yrs ago...but lately we shut it down because the pandemic back then is worst.....but this guy showed the routs and roadss.....its a nostalgic memory for me
I watched several of your videos recently and I'm really liking them. I had to subscribe. I think you ought to have more subscribers. Take note that the minimum fare for riding a tricycle is P10 for a single person and it also depends on how far the travel goes. It is better that you ask the driver how much, you could haggle with the price. I remember one time, that I asked a tricycle driver on how much for the ride and he said P200. I ended up riding a jeepney just for about 5 minutes and it only cost me P8 during that time. Minimum fare now is P9 for the first 4 kilometers. I guess the food you ate is not a dessert but the main course.
@@travisfein it's ok. I'm sure you made him happy. It was a special ride, other than that, you also gave the barber P500, so just consider it a tip to the driver. Vendors here and other people who want to earn more usually charge higher to foreigners, unless the price is fixed. If you want to buy something you can make "tawad", a local term which means to lower the price, especially in the public market. Try going to Divisoria and see how good you are in haggling. It is just a ride away from Binondo.
@@troevell I guess, if the driver said P50, Travis would also give him P500 and tell him to keep the change, but if he gave P100, I think that it would be a fair amount, that would include tip, considering that he was the lone passenger and it was a round trip.

I recommend you to visit Jomalig Island in Quezon Province, Dumaguete sandbar, Kalanggaman Island, White Island Camiguin, Boracay, Siargao, and Balabac Islands, Puerto Princesa, Coron, El Nido in Palawan (and so much more) 💞🥰
This is rice dumpling aka 'bachang' as what we call it here in Singapore. It is glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. In chinese cities, there is a festival called "Dragon Boat Festival" or "Rice Dumpling Festival" (5th day, 5th lunar month) where chinese eat these dumplings to celebrate
Its not a scam, you were charge 500 pesos since you like rented the tricycle in private. The route you made is not actually the route of the tricycle and might result him to have a ticket from an enforcer that would actually cost 1500 pesos. You can actually ride a cab next time but nothing beats the calesa or this tricycle, we called kuliglig.
As a foreigner in The Phillipines, i also get scammed by tricycle drivers. once they told me to pay 200 pesos for a 5 minute drive in boracay. they usually target foreigners cause they think they are rich. and also bring a filipino with you to avoid the scam.
Whoa! Talk about off the beaten path. You get down to the nitty gritty. You are certainly hardcore. In spite of the heat, humidity, rain, dirt, grime, and what not, you still manage to get your viewers engaged. You are very respectful of the locals and do not seem to have one stiff upper lip about you, mate. Suggestion: work out the price before you hop on local transportation. That tricycle driver just stiffed you by charging PHP500 (?). As in many countries, you got both the good and the bad eggs.
machang glutinous rice with mushroom, tofu, chestnuts..wrapped in lotus leaves...that is a vegetarian machang..the meat machang is made of chicken pork chestnut glutinous rice ,mushroom, chinese sausage and egg..we also dip it in ketchup.. in thailand and in hongkong they call it LO MAN CAI..
Your videos are raw…..you are down to earth person and this is better than a Jackie Chan movie in Hongkong. You forgot to negotiate for the tricycle fare before boarding.

Careful, there are many good and friendly people but there are some bad apples that will rip you off. It's good to have a map and calculate travel distances, routes.
500 pesos is a bit too much mate...although you are helping a family with that much money...thank you! The siopao with meat on it is fulfilling- you should try it!
@15:22 TO be fair with the driver, when Travis asked, he said "you". He don't know how much to ask and wanted Travis to decide. When asked again, he just blurted out 500 to see where it will go. 😂
But 500 pesos is too much for a tricycle ride. even for a taxi ride, it is too much. It should be only 100 pesos, the maximum. When the driver said "you", Travis didnt know. The driver must understand that he is just new in Manila. He ahould not take advantage by saying 500.

Your a real person video! Never seen one like u! You should try the eat all you can in Sofitel…if you curious about different food in Philippines….watching from France;)
ok support this guy's blogs , he always says keep the change and give service people tips.
❤️
500 is to much bro for a tricycle ride. Don’t let them scammed you because they do it again to other foreigners. If the people is honest you can give them 500. But if the person is like that its not deserving bro. But ur a good guy thats why you give him what he ask for. But next time don’t let them scammed you. Love lots from the 🇵🇭
I love how you researched about the country (the town) before actually coming here. 'Cause I have lived in Manila since birth and I didn't even know some of the info's that you just shared. 👏
I love your vlogs!! Very enthusiastic! Keep it up!! I hope you hit 100k subscribers soon!!
I think I'd die within a few days in the Philippines 😄 . I'm diabetic and all the food seems to be filled with sugar . I love your videos. The Philippines looks beautiful. A dream country to visit.
Not everything. You can ask the vendor if what food is not sweet.
It's not sweet it's savory the sauce is sweet just avoid that
Not all food
You are so kind to that tricycle driver. Not everybody is like him. God bless you.
Your videos are so entertaining. You deserve a hundred thousand Subscribers from the Philippines. Love ❤️ your channel ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey you Travis im beginning to love your videos... Im so entertained... Thank you
Latecomer here, but you sure got me hooked to your adventures, Travis Fein! And I see that you have a video trying balut that I still have to watch! Dang! Now, that's really being adventurous bro, or mate, as you say Down Under, eh? Anyway, wherever your adventures take you, I wish you safe travels and lots of positive experiences! Keep on rocking man! 🤙
Hello im also a filipino i just wanted to say that your vlogs are really awesome!! but remember that 500 pesos is big in the philippines you can buy tons and tons of if! i was so shock to see that he wants to charged you 500 pesos for a tricycle ride, 100 is the maximun charge they gave you if you ride their tricycle and if they charge you 150 and above then thats overpriced! Also always wear your facemask because facemask is still a need in the phillippines
Hope you enjoy your stay here in our country and youre also welcome to comeback!! staysafe always!!
I do agree. But he was taken on a short tour etc. I think the driver could have gotten away with 250 inc tip but 500 is way too much.
500 is not big to be honest but he got scammed
Before you ride to any passenger transport, ask first to the people around the corner,, so when the time you get tricycle or any transportation you know alrdy..We really like you Travis❤ you have a lot of energy to walk around, and at the same time, good exercise too..Just be very careful Sir Travis..❤we are sorry though..We filipinos, we respect all the foreigner coming to our country, even we don't easily catch up or understand english but we are trying to speak and answer them, the best that we can..Welcome and Mabuhay.
Salamat Sir Travis❤❤✌
It's machang. It's rice wrapped and steamed in lotus leaf.
Quite enjoyable! The milk tea and the snacks got the breadbasket in knots mate ! Nice!

That tricycle driver in China Town is a flipping ripoff he cost this vlogger for 500 pesos from China town to Binondo can you imagine? Terrible tricycle driver that’s so embarrassing 😳
😂 yeah it’s crazy
@@travisfein Hi Travis, I know he’s gonna do that lol.. Shame on him

I recommend you to visit Jomalig Island in Quezon Province, Dumaguete sandbar, Kalanggaman Island, White Island Camiguin, Boracay, Siargao,
and Balabac Islands, Puerto Princesa, Coron, El Nido in Palawan (and so much more) 💞🥰
So much to see, not enough time!!
@@travisfein Aww that's fine! Enjoy your time here in the Philippines 🇵🇭💞 and when you come back here you can explore those places ehehehe
From Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
This is the real definition of travel.
Beautiful good luck my friend ❤️👍 from Sri Lanka🇱🇰☺️
Thank you Travis for visiting Philippines and keep safe .
I love watching you man! I want to see more videos of you here in the Philippines. Just take care in you know.
5:01 the Manong in the corner snooping on you 😂😂
As a foreigner in The Phillipines, i also get scammed by tricycle drivers. once they told me to pay 200 pesos for a 5 minute drive in boracay. they usually target foreigners cause they think they are rich. and also bring a filipino with you to avoid the scam.
Stay Safe Travis ..
❤ from 🇱🇰
Cov1d: Im very dangerous
Also travis exploring the town without wearing a face mask
Hi Travis…. Be more careful…. You’re so cool…. Your videos are beautifully informative … well done…be safe wherever you go…. God bless you!!!
Your videos are raw…..you are down to earth person and this is better than a Jackie Chan movie in Hongkong. You forgot to negotiate for the tricycle fare before boarding.
Thank you for sharing my friend..i hope you enjoyed our country 🙏🇵🇭
Trav
Great content and information re Chinatown was interesting.
Your zest to try foods and enjoy the streets is awesome. Like your Pa ( dad) you have a cast iron stomach.
Enjoy ❤️👍
Be careful to strangers guy like that much better you rent a taxi
Careful, there are many good and friendly people but there are some bad apples that will rip you off. It's good to have a map and calculate travel distances, routes.
Travis, your energy is off the charts.
More Fun in the Philippines.Watching from Spain with LOVE....God Bless...
500 pesos is a bit too much mate...although you are helping a family with that much money...thank you! The siopao with meat on it is fulfilling- you should try it!
Hi machan 🇱🇰
Honestly, you're too brave. You should learn to bargain and that's Filipino style. Hahaha.
Now, I subscribed!!!
Just to let you know ,Before you ride trike or horse driven carriage ask them first how much ,also trike usually charge only max of 50 pesos the most
Enjoying your vlogs trav. Stay safe and thank you 👍
The thing in the leaf is usually sticky rice with some special fermented eggs and meat. Asians eat it especially during dragon festival.
@ 13:40 that bridge and that archway is quite significant historically, just google it bruh .....
I am sorry you got scammed! Only in Manila! Usually that won't happen outside Manila.
Tip: Negotiate/Ask for the price first. :)
Jeez, I teach Aral. Pan. but I didn't know Binondo church was built to convert Chinese immigrants into Christianity. Thanks for that piece of info. Travis. You're the best. ❤❤❤
Before riding any tricycle, ask how much first,or you can also bargain, some tricycle drivers take advantage of tourist, extra careful of what you eat too, enjoy your adventure & stay safe….pls .visit our hometown Bataan, watching you from Orlando ,Florida
Before you take any tricycle in Manila or any part of the county negotiate first for the fare. even locals they are charging to much. so negotiate reasonable price.
wow ! I feel like travelling in the philippines as well. Thank you Travis.
Come to Cebu
Also Hope you can go to Baguio, Launion, and Vigan north of the Philippines. The way you interact to people they will interact back Amazing . You are so friendly no doubt.enjoy and have fun.
Like the saying let's the buyer be aware. Well those in the area take advantage of not only tourists but their own kind too. Survival!!!
Im a new subscriber. I subscribed just past midnight and i like the vlogs of Travis. Very professional and very entertaining like watching a movie. Travis looks like the young John Travolta. Hope he doesnt mind.
Awesome watching you. Always be careful when going to a crowd.
