Even regular fruit here tastes good. Better than almost all fruit I've had in America good. I can't imagine what the expensive version here tastes like!
Everything here in America now has preservatives and aren't natural anymore. All the fruits are picked too soon and cold storage. Farmers market is the best way to go.
its so hard to believe that apparently you suffered from a knee dislocation right before you filmed this! I just saw your chronic pain video and man Martina, you are the strongest person I know and I hope someday I could strive to be that strong as well. You're BOTH so inspiring and I love binge watching your videos. Take care :3
It's incredible to think that Martina was in pain during this video. :( We really appreciate what you are doing and all of your interesting videos. And if doing videos makes Martina better, we are happy to always be here to support you guys! :) Be strong, girl!
She was really happy in this video, even though she was just in a bad accident. And it's in making these videos and in laughing with you that she's the happiest :)
Ryu Suzuki did you know she was in pain before watching the video? Because I didn't and she seemed exactly the same to me. It's difficult to be objective sometimes when you know certain things.
***** listen to their latest TL; DR. That being said, Martina IS the same. Just because we are now aware (or more aware) of Martina hurting while doing a video, doesn't make this video special. Martina wouldn't want us to think of her any differently so I wont.
My dog/best friend passed away yesterday. Worst day of my life. For 14 years she was my best friend and I'm especially having a rough time thinking how she's not here with me physically. But Simon and Martina.. your videos have helped me smile and to dim the pain. I thank you for making me even feel the slightest of happiness recently even in the darkest of times. Sorry to bring this upon you.. but I just wanted to tell you guys that You're Amazing. I humbly thank you..
amen to that, all the riboflavins that are good for your heart and blood in apples are in the skin it annoys me when i see on most korean shows people cutting off the skin, i mean i get pesticides but just wash them? you reckon they dont have peelers in korea like why do they always peel with knives?
Uhg, I always take the peel off. I don't like the texture compared to the inside. + somehow I'd rather have the inside than the peel that's probably been sprayed with pesticides, been dropped on the ground etc. (I wouldn't care about it if the outside tasted the same as the inside)
in this case it may have been to prevent them from knowing which is which, since the fruits had unique colours. the cheap apple had a lighter color to it and didn't have a bruise. the expensive pear was a bit bigger. they wanted this to be a true blind test.
lol my dad bought a $17 pear once because he lost his glasses and thought it was $1.7 I think it was the same as that pear in the video. Huge and sweet. Then he got addicted and keep buying the pears which drives me crazy. Feels like such a waste. anw, salutes martina for being so professional. Huge love from Indonesia :)
i bought a $10 strawberry, (STRAW.BERRY.,SINGLE) in japan which comes in like a clear plastic box thinking it was the holy mother of all strawberries, tasted no difference whatsoever . decisions i make...
lol I just imagined a whole scene where you sit down at a table, brimming with excitement. You open the little plastic box as if it were a display case that held a fine gem. You pick it up, put it to your lips... and are seriously disappointed.

Surprised you peeled the pear and apple - i thought there were a lot of nutrients are. I know some talk about pesticides - but if you wash it and its still there, if its in the peel then its in the rest of the apple too. You're not really avoiding anything
There is no special - over priced fruit in the USA that I'm aware of. There are vendors that send gift baskets and arrangements that are more expensive then if you just did it yourself. There is this company 'Edible Arrangements" that cuts pineapples and apples and strawberries and make it look like a flower arrangement. Sometimes the dip some of the fruit in chocolate
I live in germany and you get about six apples for about 2€ and I'm croatian and in croatia it's even cheaper, u get that much for even 40cent to 1€ (and they don't taste like chemicals lol)
I'm pretty sure the apples in here are expensive because it's winter here. The apples are not in season. They are usually sold at pretty reasonable price when in season.
Did u guise know that in Chinese culture it's good luck for ur fruit to mold. Because in chinese language 发霉(mold) and 发财(prosper/be rich) both have a word in common(发). Many chinese office workers put molding fruits in their offices in hopes to prosper in the year(发财)
I live in the US, in Minnesota to be exact, and truthfully, fruit is really bland here. If you want fruit that is even remotely tasty you have to get it at it's very peak and even then it's a hit or miss. When I went to Jamaica for two weeks we had fresh fruit picked for us every morning and oh my goodness... I will never be able to eat American pineapple, banana, or mango without feeling immense sadness ever again! The fruit in Jamaica was paler but tasted like magic, it was so sweet!
WHAT PART OF MINNESNOWTA? (sorry i live on the border of minnesota and wisconsin, wisconsin side, but i feel far more minnesotan haha and i like finding midwesterners liking the same stuff as me ^^)
Haha!!! HI! I live like, 20 minutes North West of Minneapolis! Yeah, it is hard to find fellow midwesterns! Although.. there was this one time I went to the clinic and a girl was wearing an Exo Growl shirt and I flipped out on the inside. I was really sick so I didn't go say hi, now I regret it OTL.
xChocolateStrawberri i live about a half hour from the twin cities! that's crazy. but it's gotta be harder for us because exciting stuff rarely comes to the midwest and we all can't gather as easily then :/ i love seeing people in kpop stuff but i hate being too scared to say anything to them haha the struggle!
That's how I felt after living in Germany for a year and eating so much tasty German fruit and then going back to America and being like "why is our fruit so dissapointing?" Eating German strawberries were like eating candies, and eating American strawberries is like eating slightly strawberry flavored water. >.
I can`t believe you just fell and are in pain. You are such an inspiration. I have severe fibromyalgia and I often feel like I just want to stay in bed and feel bad for myself. Keep on going girl! My spouse is luckily very supportive as well. just like Simon. Nice job Simon!
Okay, no joke, Korean pears are my favorite things in the world, becuase they're huge, and so effing juicy. They're kinda expensive where I live (Oklahoma) but THEY ARE SO WORTH IT. I STEAL THEM FROM MY GRANDPARENTS ALL THE TIME (But don't tell my gramps, becuase he's always like "Where'd all the fruit go?" AND BUYS A BAGILLION TIMES MORE FRUIT AND I'M LIKE, "YES GRANDFATHER, YES, BUY ME THE FRUIT"
I love Korean pears. I work at a grocery store and they sell them for between 2 and 3 dollars. I've always loved the flavor of pears but hated that super gritty texture, so when I discovered these and their apply crispness I was thrilled. I would love to try one that isn't, you know, imported. (Local fruit is so much better. Sadness for the lack of Korean pears or persimmons growing in the Midwest.)
Eat Your Kimchi you are so sweet ^^ ,thanks for all your videos, i hope one day i will visit korea and i will definitely buy these expensive fruit , please god make that happen
I SEE MINE AND MY FRIEND, KIIRA'S DRAWING ON THE WALL! :D I thought it never arrived to you guys :) it's the black one right in the middle! I'm so happy! I spent so many hours on that collage :D
It's so lovely! We had it on display in the other room but decided to move the couch and decorate the lower wall. Thank you for taking the time on it. We love it! :D
I honestly thought that you guys hadn't gotten it from us ;) but I'm so happy that you like it :3 was so surprised to see it on the wall behind you in this video :D I was pretty much watching the video and towards the end I was like "ooh, what fanart is that on the black poster? :D ........ wait a minute........ O.o That's my fanart!!!!! Holy shieeeet!!" :D and then I pretty much crawled up into a ball and started crying happy tears :'D
In Israel, they sell the really cheap and tasteless fruits to us, and all the good, rich fruits that grow in the north get imported to Russia and Europe and sold for like 10$ each :( You can really taste the difference, the fruits from the north are x10 sweeter and have a more complex texture than the regular junk.
I can't believe Martina had an accident and was in pain during this. She is so inspiring and strong, I really look up to her. Thank you for everything you do for us nasties!
I don't know if it's gourmet or not, but once I went strawberry picking during my vacation in South Korean.. Their strawberries taste soo sweet! way better than those big strawberries that we get from the groceries in Canada. At that time It's not even the season for strawberries! imagine how it taste like when its the time. Yum~
2.5$ for an apple... that's a lot, really, here we can buy, 1 kg, for 80 cents or so... So that apple would be 40-50 cents... Are fruits always expensive there?
MegaFreakgirl Not that weird, given the size of South Korea and that most of it is urbanized. There's just no place to grow fruits and veggies, so they have to be imported.
yeah...I was about to say that 2.50 per pear is not cheap at all...that sounds more like per kg price to me...I have heard fresh fruit, veges and meat is really expensive in korea and japan. it really shocked me when I saw on a japanese TV show that 1 serving of beef costs around 80 dollars...thats like how much i spend over a week or more...
Martina, that little "yehoo" in the end might have been one of the cutest sounds I've ever heard, ever. And your knee brace is so much nicer than mine, I'm jealous.
Interestingly, Korea doesn't do apple variety. When I visit Canada I go to the grocery store and see shelves of apples ranging from Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, Fuiji, Granny Smith....Korea has: "Here is bag of reddish green apples. You want different apple? Okay these reddish green apples are smaller and cheaper." That's it!
Thankfully I'm from Washington where most stores carry multiple varieties of apples. Sometimes its a true dilemma choosing one out of the many present.
Eat Your Kimchi good point. For some reason we Koreans are drown to Fiji apple. I guessing back the Japanese occupation we were tame liked so? Or maybe just like most of the produce apples were also introduced by Japan as well. Btw if you find 2.50$ apples bland try the apple that my dad finds from back of a truck or 농협 for 50 cents!!;) always love your video and I am forcing my gf to watch it so when she comes to Korea she wouldn't go W.T.F on everything. Keep up the beautiful detailed info!!
OMG you guess should try some of the fruits here in Brazil. Some like mangos and bananas and strawberry are imported, but we have like at least 60 different native fruits that are so weird with a wide range of flavor. Like seriously, Brazil is definitely one of the countries with the most fruit varieties, the king of fruits!
In Sweden there is no such thing as a special, more expensive fruit... I think? ^^ Maybe we have these Granny Smith red apples that is a bit shinier and more prettier than the usual apples... But I wish I could taste the korean pear! The pears in Sweden looks kind of different, they are more egg-shaped.
granny smith are green apples from australia :) you might be thinking of red delicious but perhaps royal gala or pink lady?, they are quite common red apples here in aus. also sweden's awesome btw :3
EmmaAppleBerry Oh woops! I swear I thought they were red apples! Yeah it's probably pink lady now that I think about it! Australia is pretty awesome too ;)
Okay, I have to ask this. WHY ON EARTH DO KOREANS DISCARD PEAR AND APPLE PEELS?!?!?!?! That part of the fruit is _loaded_ with cancer-fighting nutrients. Why do they peel it off and throw it away? Why?
Lunay LeZarde LOL- No I'm not- I've tried organic, non-organic, Ive been to other countries and had the fruit- it all taste like armpit to me. I love apples and pears don't get me wrong but I can't eat the skin. Something about outer layers bug me appearantly because I don't like eating bread crust either
Lunay LeZarde I believe most Korean moms will say because of pesticides. I know because my mom tells me every time I pick up an apple to wash it, wash it with vinegar water, and then peel it. I do... one of those things loosely. (wash it)
I was so happy to find this video! I live in Bangkok, Thailand and there is fruit for the same expensive price here too for the new year. My husband and I are moving to South Korea later this year so this is the stuff we need to know. :P lol Thanks for your helpful videos!
Hey Martina and Simon, im currently 6 months pregnant, I live in the U.S and being pregnant you have to change your eating habits, Your not suppose to eat, rare fish, rare or runny eggs, and can only eat fully cooked meat, and nuts are not recommend bc it can cause nut allergens, and taken Prenatal vitamins, i know you did a thing of pregnancy but does a woman's eating habits need to change when she is pregnant?
I'm also 6 months pregnant, I know your not to eat raw anything, but I eat nuts and I'm fine. This is my 2nd pregnancy and I eat what I want and I am fine. When your pregnant you eat what you crave, in th Asian culture if the women is craving something the husband has to get it for her, because its good for her and the baby. It's kind of like Superstition if the women doesn't eat what she craves it's not healthy for the baby. But eating certain things don't change how your baby will turn out.
And also, different counties have different superstitions, like they said if you eat the nice round, smooth one your baby will be good looking etc. but that just a saying and in South Korea they strive for good looking babies, kids, looks etc so they say that kind of stuff.
I have a sensitivity to nuts, so I stay away from them, I live in Kansas so fresh fish and meats are hard to find, I didn't know if different countries had different ways of being pregnant. In america If you are carrying low, as your belly hangs down low, You most likely carrying a boy. But if you carry high, to wear you have a high belly, its a girl. but i dont know if thats the same there
Actually you're not supposed to eat fish at all except maybe like canned tuna (I'd ask a doctor) since fish carry enough mercury to cause birth defects in the baby.
i'm not sure what pears you have in canada but in aus i've always had nice juicy fresh green pears, unless your talking about brown pears that for some reason are always in paintings even though they taste like poo are belong no where near edible fruit.
i know right! it's yuck the skin tastes like paper, and even without it still tastes like its been sitting in an attic! btw loved the video :) are you guys going to do a lunar new year video?
I wonder if the apple would have tasted better if it hadn't been partially rotten... Also I'm SO happy to see you guys back! I've been having a hard time lately dealing with depression and waking up and going to school became a lot easier when I watched your new videos while getting ready ♥♥
hi! So I know this video is super old but there is an expensive holiday fruit in the U.S. Harry and David sell pears that are very expensive but amazing. They don't have the grit the way regular pears do and they are super juicy. Thanks for another great video!
In Singapore if I'm not mistaken, the gift fruit is pomelo. During CNY season, supermarkets are filled with pomelos. My family got alphonso mangoes. They are really really pricey but it's really good & extremely huge.
I don't know about Canada, but on the East Coast in the U.S., gift fruit is available through mail-order catalogs. The catalogs tend to revolve around citrus fruits, since many are based in Florida. You can get the typical Western-style gift baskets with fruit, nuts, pastries, and candies, but you can also get a little ribbon-tied gift box with a couple of perfect, giant oranges, grapefruit, pears, or even specialty cross-breeds like Honeybells.
You guys are always soooo entertaining to watch! :D You're one of the reasons why I would like to go to S. Korea someday besides EXO, cute things and Seoul's attractions! :D
I'm from New England, in the Fall all the local apple orchards sell tons of variety. The apples are definitely more expensive than a grocery store and are special because they are harvested in the Autumn. They are better quality. You can pick them yourself and be choosy or just go into the farm store and buy a bag and get cider and cider donuts. Cider donuts are the most amazing things on the planet!
Today I purchased something called a Korean Singo Fruit from an Asian market. They were giving out samples & I thought it was really good (sweet & juicy) so I bought one. It taste like a cross between a really great pear & apple. I looked pretty much like the pear you guys had on your video (super huge) & it was pretty pricey ($4.00) which is still high for one piece of fruit. I wouldn't spend $12.00 for it but it I would definitely treat myself again to one occasionally for $4.00. Sort of like my once in a blue moon pomegranate.
Just came from that video to rewatch this one, and then I read this XD wow quickly done and great that you two are so involved in your community ^^ thumbs up
There are durians and mangosteens in Singapore. (Supposedly the King and Queen of fruits respectively). Mangosteens are so delicious, almost like a delicacy. There is dragonfruit as well but i haven't tried that XD
I live in the U.S, Northern California to exact. Our fruit is pretty good here. I love going to pick my own cherries, grapes, oranges, apples and peaches. The quality of fruit changes depending on the season. Because when locally grown fruit is in season it can be great but during the off season when it's exported not so much.
How are the peaches in Korea? BECAUSE PEACHES ARE LIFE. My sister went to Spain once, ate a peach, and said it was the most juiciest, succulent, ripe peach she had ever had. Here in the US unless peaches are in season they taste like dong. Pretty much like any other fruit. Except for bananas. WHY BANANA WHY DO YOU ALWAYS TASTE THE SAME
Peaches are not that popular in Korea. When they come around seasonally I've never really had a great one. They always seem hard and unable to ripen. Maybe they're all imported rather than grown here? I'll check more closely next time...
Eat Your Kimchi woooowhat? Peaches are my favorite! I believe we grow peaches here in korea.. im just a little shocked that you've never had nice peaches all those years since you've been here
I live in New York, and we actually do have Korean Pears here, and I'm trying to figure out if our pear is the regular korean pear or the, gourmet lunar new year korean pear. Because Korean pears here are pretty damn good as it is.
Martina i just want to say that i love you and you are such an inspiration for me like you dont get an idea thank you for everything you do and for sharing a piece of you with us ^^ thank you
I tried passion fruit the other day and I was super blown away by the taste. It might not be special to maybe some people but growing up I've only seen like...apples, oranges, bananas and peaches. Passion fruit has the taste of all of those fruits. It was amazing~
In Florida we have something that's called a jackfruit it is covered in spikes, weighs about 5-10 pounds, has huge seeds in it, only comes around 2-3 times a year and is a rare gift that is very welcome in most homes.
Nah that's no fun. It's okay when you are joking and they know you are. I tease my best friend and she teases me and it's fun because we know we're kidding. They aren't being mean about it (:
We don't usually have "A gift fruit", but few months ago they got a heart shaped watermelon. Looked cute, it was sold for 300$ each, AND the people who bought it said it was tasteless!
There's one here in the states called Harry and David who sells gift fruit (I think pears and apples). When you buy a box there's one pear that's gold leafed, they taste pretty good.
Please see: Hickory Farms. I only have experience with a certain type of orange (could've been a tangerine or tangelo, for all I remember), but it did taste pretty good.
In the US a lot of people I know send Harry & David pears for Christmas gifts. They are grown in Oregon and are always REALLY tasty. Their standard pears come to about $3.32 USD, and their premium "cream of the crop" pears are $6.00 USD each. So even their most expensive pears are still half the price of those Lunar New Year ones.
I live in Los Angeles and in koreatown they definitely raise the fruit prices around New Years and korean thanksgiving and they do have gift fruit boxes that are more expensive. There was a korean pear set of 3 for around 6 dollars but I know that's nothing compared to koreas gift fruit. Normally the prices for fruit are really cheap so I'm so blessed. :D
I wouldn't say that this is an American tradition, but there is a company called Harry and David, and they specialize in doing gift arrangements with different varieties of pears and other fruits. They will generally come in a really pretty box with an assortment of seasonal pears. The fancier sets have chocolate, speciality cookies or pretzels, and other stuff like that. I know that they can get very expensive, but it's a nice gift to give during the holidays (if you have the money, of course). c:
The Korean and International markets in my area offer very expensive seasonal fruit packaged very beautifully. I was never inclined to try 50 dollar pears until now lol ♥
At Christmastime in the US, really a expensive box of pears were a gift that my father would sometimes receive from colleagues: it was kind of like a nicer version of a fruit basket. These pears were incredible, not so much in size, but in taste and texture- you had to hold a paper napkin right under your chin before you bit into it, because there was so much juice in the pear it would run all over your chin. But I don't know another time of year when we got the fancy pears.
In the town that I'm from, we have Harry & David, which is basically a fruit/candy/bakery/winery place. You can send loved ones little Christmas boxes with pears, cheese, sausage, crackers, jam, etc. Sometimes there's chocolate or a this log shaped chocolate cake with cream in the middle. Half the town works for this company.
One of Washington's big exports is apples so we get really nice quality ones for cheap. Maybe like $1-2 for a gourmet apple? Special markets might be more expensive. Average apple from a store is $0.45 per lb or les.
I know that in the UK there's fruit gift baskets you can send to people. They usually cost around £20+ depending. It's not common but for weddings and birthdays people sometimes send them. Sending flowers is the more popular choice nowadays.
In Australia, we don't have expensive fruit but authentic vietnamese dishes that served at lunar new year are expensive. There are also flowers and gift packages you can buy.
Even regular fruit here tastes good. Better than almost all fruit I've had in America good. I can't imagine what the expensive version here tastes like!
Everything here in America now has preservatives and aren't natural anymore. All the fruits are picked too soon and cold storage. Farmers market is the best way to go.

i never understood why people take the peel off of some fruits, so much extra work and it still taste yummy with it on!
amen to that, all the riboflavins that are good for your heart and blood in apples are in the skin it annoys me when i see on most korean shows people cutting off the skin, i mean i get pesticides but just wash them? you reckon they dont have peelers in korea like why do they always peel with knives?

Because fruit skins are full of chemicals. Personally I'm so lazy that I don't often peel my fruit but I feel bad knowing how unhealty it is.
in this case it may have been to prevent them from knowing which is which, since the fruits had unique colours. the cheap apple had a lighter color to it and didn't have a bruise. the expensive pear was a bit bigger. they wanted this to be a true blind test.
for me, the fruit peel always gets stuck between my teeth in a really painful way so I prefer to peel it off to avoid unecessary pain :
2,50 for just one apple already seems expensive to me...!
I KNOW RIGHT
Even though it was kinda huge, it seemed quite expensive still
***** THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID...sorry i couldn't help myself
It was out of season. Korean fruit prices go up when they are out of season.
이해인 the prices go up everywhere when the fruit is out of season
lol my dad bought a $17 pear once because he lost his glasses and thought it was $1.7 I think it was the same as that pear in the video. Huge and sweet. Then he got addicted and keep buying the pears which drives me crazy. Feels like such a waste.

Em chi, is that a picture of you ? Because if it is you are gorgeous!!
Newport1 That is After School's Nana :)

a part of me just died
oh man if only they made that joke with the song coming on. nice one!
Please accept my apology *holds out apple >
i bought a $10 strawberry, (STRAW.BERRY.,SINGLE) in japan which comes in like a clear plastic box thinking it was the holy mother of all strawberries, tasted no difference whatsoever . decisions i make...

Lmao. Thanks for the laugh bruh 😂
Was it a white strawberry? They charge you about $10 each strawberry too.
What. The. Fuck.
The white strawberry lol.
and here we are in 2017, eating $140 melons and $150 grapes...YE BOIIIII
Rewatching this video, and I had to pause before it even started to go grab an apple. I gotta say, eating it and watching this at the same time was pretty satisfying. Something about it made my apple taste a million times better lol
yea whenever I'm eating food, I think what category is this closest too in their videos LOL. so when I eat ice cream, I pull up the Avengers ice cream video or when I eat pot stickers, i pull up the korean mandu video LOL.
BTW I pulled up this video because I was eating cherries XD
Could you taste the difference between a 2 dollar pear and a 13 dollar pear in a blind taste test? We'll test out Korea's super expensive gourmet fruit for this week's video!

It sounds like a ripoff to me.

I will never be able to eat American pineapple, banana, or mango without feeling immense sadness ever again! The fruit in Jamaica was paler but tasted like magic, it was so sweet!
actually, everything in Jamaica tasted better, even their pop (soda) because it is illegal to use preservatives in their food there!
I was really sick so I didn't go say hi, now I regret it OTL.
xChocolateStrawberri
i live about a half hour from the twin cities! that's crazy. but it's gotta be harder for us because exciting stuff rarely comes to the midwest and we all can't gather as easily then :/ i love seeing people in kpop stuff but i hate being too scared to say anything to them haha the struggle!
"free range apple fruit"
yes i can see the apples wandering around the orchard. how organic and healthy
the first time I ate a Korean pear, I thought they tasted like water - but then I had a really really good one, and my life changed forever
Simon and Martina, if you say hi to me my terrible morning will go so much better because of you!
Hello there! I hope you have an awesome day:)
What the hell kind of steroids are they feeding those fruit? I have never seen pears that big before.
They feed the pears the slaughtered sacrifices of smaller pears.
Simon and Martina Those poor pears 😢 #RIP
#prayforpears2015
apples are also weirdly big here, at least in comparison to what i've seen in the USA. can't tell if it's more chemicals or less that does it lol
different species, these are nashi pears, you're thinking of the european pear.
Yes! You're back! This is the Simon and Martina I know and love! Now I want a $13 pear!
Hi!! Simon and Martina, you Guys you are soo amazing. Thank you, for all your fun and amazing videos!!!! A lot of support from Eastern Europe!!!
$12 fruit that doesn't peel itself? I'm already disappointed.
***** It could be harvested in heaven and I would still not spend that.
japan also has the white strawberry
Yes. Produce is stupid expensive here. Eating out is cheap, but grocery shopping is hell.
Eat Your Kimchi that's actually quite common is Asia. :x Same problem in Japan for the fruits & imported vegetables. :x
Eat Your Kimchi wow....well, there are differences all over the world, so that's ok... Still weird! Keep up the good work! I love you guys!
It's all down to the apple variety though. A Braeburn would taste completely different to a Pink Lady for example.
Like seriously, Brazil is definitely one of the countries with the most fruit varieties, the king of fruits!
i really love korean pears too! They're so much better than pears in the western world
It's amazing how you guys can make eating fruit informative and entertaining. :)
I just came from the TL;DR. About Martina's EDS. Was this the video you filmed when Martina dislocated her knee?
Same! ^_^Lol.
Maicen Jones Yes.
Martina looks so pretty in this video! Hair and makeup ON POINT
Australia is pretty awesome too ;)
***** In Norway, all fruit is more expensive all around :P
Martina, how do you make being hurt so adorable?! I just can't... I hope Simon was nice and shared the rest of the pear with you!
Okay, I have to ask this. WHY ON EARTH DO KOREANS DISCARD PEAR AND APPLE PEELS?!?!?!?! That part of the fruit is _loaded_ with cancer-fighting nutrients. Why do they peel it off and throw it away? Why?
Because the skin taste like armpit with a hint of butt?
My mom say it's covered with wax hence the apple is shiny.
CookiesTriedToEatMe Sounds like you've been eating used fruit. As to what it's been used for, well, best not to think about that. XD
(wash it)
I love the korean refrences!!
I was so happy to find this video! I live in Bangkok, Thailand and there is fruit for the same expensive price here too for the new year.
My husband and I are moving to South Korea later this year so this is the stuff we need to know. :P lol
Thanks for your helpful videos!
Ai Song In Mexico, there's a joke where if you dont get what you crave for during pregnancy, the baby's head'll come out shaped like that....
The video that started it all...honestly though, one of the best series this channel has done over the years
i'm not sure what pears you have in canada but in aus i've always had nice juicy fresh green pears, unless your talking about brown pears that for some reason are always in paintings even though they taste like poo are belong no where near edible fruit.
I never ate a brown pear that I liked. They're all so...gritty.
i know right! it's yuck the skin tastes like paper, and even without it still tastes like its been sitting in an attic! btw loved the video :) are you guys going to do a lunar new year video?
Eat Your Kimchi but brown pears are so sweet and juicy when taken right off the tree branch
I wonder if the apple would have tasted better if it hadn't been partially rotten...
Also I'm SO happy to see you guys back! I've been having a hard time lately dealing with depression and waking up and going to school became a lot easier when I watched your new videos while getting ready ♥♥
And here I am, complaining about the prices of fruit in the UK... :/
hi! So I know this video is super old but there is an expensive holiday fruit in the U.S. Harry and David sell pears that are very expensive but amazing. They don't have the grit the way regular pears do and they are super juicy. Thanks for another great video!
You can buy 8 kilograms of apple for 2,5 dollars in Turkey
In Singapore if I'm not mistaken, the gift fruit is pomelo. During CNY season, supermarkets are filled with pomelos.
My family got alphonso mangoes. They are really really pricey but it's really good & extremely huge.
..wait a minute...free range apple fruit...
SHHHHH it's okay. Just let the terminology rush over you...
2.50 for a REGULAR APPLE?^^
in germany, you get like one or two kilos of apples for that price
You guys are always soooo entertaining to watch! :D
You're one of the reasons why I would like to go to S. Korea someday besides EXO, cute things and Seoul's attractions! :D
I like Korean pears too
I'm from New England, in the Fall all the local apple orchards sell tons of variety. The apples are definitely more expensive than a grocery store and are special because they are harvested in the Autumn. They are better quality. You can pick them yourself and be choosy or just go into the farm store and buy a bag and get cider and cider donuts. Cider donuts are the most amazing things on the planet!
Simon is Polish and he didn't think of Chopin? Blasphemy!
DO ONE ON JAPANESE WHITE STRAWBERRIES
Good idea! :)
FapFap of donkatsu next please 😞🙏🙏
Sounds like a plan!
YES BOYS OVER FLOWERS REFERENCE!!
I've had Korean pears before and they are delicious. They are definitely juicy and sweet. Haven't had those in awhile though and I want some now lol.
WHY BANANA
WHY DO YOU ALWAYS TASTE THE SAME
Peaches are not that popular in Korea. When they come around seasonally I've never really had a great one. They always seem hard and unable to ripen. Maybe they're all imported rather than grown here? I'll check more closely next time...
Eat Your Kimchi woooowhat? Peaches are my favorite! I believe we grow peaches here in korea.. im just a little shocked that you've never had nice peaches all those years since you've been here
Eat Your Kimchi what about *drools* nectarines *slobber*?
I live in New York, and we actually do have Korean Pears here, and I'm trying to figure out if our pear is the regular korean pear or the, gourmet lunar new year korean pear. Because Korean pears here are pretty damn good as it is.
no no no no no no why are you peeling the fruits? ;-; its better with the peel on.Atleast I never peel my apples or pears
I guess I must put this on my to do list when I visit Korea and gain eternal youth.
Lmao now they're buying $140 melon
You guys are hilarious. Every single video is so entertaining; keep doing what you do :)
What is Voodoo new year? O:
Lunar New Year :D
Eat Your Kimchi Omg thank you! (: I love your videos!!
Martina i just want to say that i love you and you are such an inspiration for me like you dont get an idea thank you for everything you do and for sharing a piece of you with us ^^ thank you
Why didn't you eat any skin? That's where most of the flavour and nutrition is
Because it is mainly full of chemicals
I don't know exactly, but in some apples the skin is very bitter.
In not german states, yes.
최로빈 why German?
I tried passion fruit the other day and I was super blown away by the taste. It might not be special to maybe some people but growing up I've only seen like...apples, oranges, bananas and peaches. Passion fruit has the taste of all of those fruits. It was amazing~
$2.50 for an apple is still freaking expensive!!! 1 good quality apple in the Philippines costs like 25 pesos or roughly 50cents!!! CENTS!!
Then we spend 50 thousand on cancer treatment. If we able to spend more on healthy food going in we spend less on meds an treatment.
+Yasmin Bremnor in Belgium, for 2,50 you have 1 or 2 kilos good quality. You don't need to pay 13 dollars on a fruit to avoid sickness
In the US, it's mostly by weight here. Like $2.50 per pound
well in england you can get an apple for about 45 pence
Dude, I love your beard and stache Simon. Keep on rockin' it!
I was thinking, "is that Martina peeling the pear", but I swear North Americans never peel fruit with knives like that. Must have been Suzy.
Pesticides
She's Canadian :-)
Our Pearl Re-read what I said. I'm not talking about anyone being Canadian.
I mis-understood the comment.
It's Lei not Suzy
I love you both, you majestic rare fish, for closing your eyes through the tasting even though you both knew what kind of fruit you're eating.
I love how the thumbnail says "fap"
It's short for "Food Adventure Program For Awesome People" :)
+Simon and Martina oooh thanks now I know :)
In Florida we have something that's called a jackfruit it is covered in spikes, weighs about 5-10 pounds, has huge seeds in it, only comes around 2-3 times a year and is a rare gift that is very welcome in most homes.
"we just said a bite, not the whole thing"... talk about how to make someone feel totally awkward; especially after quizzing someone for a bite?
Bruh, your anti-EYK is showing.
you never tease your friends?
No. Never in my life.
Nah that's no fun. It's okay when you are joking and they know you are. I tease my best friend and she teases me and it's fun because we know we're kidding. They aren't being mean about it (:
Well, I tease my friends, just not when it comes to food.
YAY you're back with your videos!! :-))))
I'm from Houston, Texas and I can get these gourmet Korean pears here too. Two for ~$6 or $7 or a whole box of 9-10 counts of $28-$30 at HMart.
I love the taste of the Korean pairs and apple really good
One of Washington's big exports is apples so we get really nice quality ones for cheap.
1:40 when Simon sweared a lot i couldn't stop laughing😂😂😂 complaining about the bruise😂😂😂
