Thanks for the vid! I'm a complete noob having trouble with wiring *pulling out my hair* My old head unit has the M100 plug set (non-premium). I picked up my truck model's Scosche harness and matched most of the wires from the radio's harness, but I still am winding up with unused/unmatched wires left over. Is this normal? Trying to read/match wiring diagrams is a nightmare. Any advice is much appreciated.

Yea I did have the same problem as when I first started, we all have to start somewhere. It can be intimidating at first, like anything new that we do. My Scosche harness did not have any extra wires, not to say that other models may be different. Which harness are you currently trying to use?

I started off with a Scosche harness and installation kit for a Dual stereo. Granted, I didn't crimp or solder/heatshrink any of the wires. But there seemed to be some outstanding. About the only understanding (which may be wrong) is that the black wire is the ground.

That's weird since there is usually matching wires from the harness and the stereo wiring.

so does it fit your 97 Ford f150 cause I have a 97 Ford F-150 truck I and wanted to get a New radio

I believe so. Most radios, both double and single slot, are a standard size. There was a metal arm that held my stock radio in and you may have to remove that, if needed. Also when you use the mounting bracket make sure that you cut the right parts off so that it will fit properly and not fly out if you brake hard.

You can get them a lot of places: Walmart, Crutchfield, eBay, Amazon, and probably from Ford.

The tool with the 2 prongs on either side? For the stock radio that's how you remove it.

my 97 f150 has a stock radio with a remote 6 disc changer, the radio is going bad, how can i do a radio swap with out losing my disc changer since it is still working 20 years later, thank you in advance

Mine also has the 6 disc changer, behind the driver's seat. Since you still want to use the CD changer, you can either buy a OEM (original equipment manufacturer)radio that will be the same as the radio you have currently. Or you could buy a aftermarket radio that includes the CD slot to play your CDs.

I have a stock radio for a 97 F-150 that is still good. My truck also has the CD changer. I would be willing to seel radio cheap.
