      Great example of Namlish, btw: ("Someone), they," rather than standard English avoiding that pronoun. Also the lack of distinction between singular and plural. We's unique mos, neh?

      @@towera I hope u went thru the long JETTY into the sea in Swakopmund. Am not sure if it was open when u were there coz I read something early this year like it has been closed for renovations. U can also go sandboarding in desert Swakopmund, Camel riding in desert, dune driving, ballooning and aerial flights. Moreso, u can visit one of the highest sand dunes in world, Dune 7 east of Walvis Bay and no visit to Namibia and Coast is complete without visiting SANDWICH HARBOUR which is some 45km west of Walvis Bay along the coast. That is exactly where the highest dunes meet the sea with dunes as high as 200 metres kissing the sea.
      Moreso, u can go north of Swakopmund to Henties bay town 80km along coast in Skeleton coast national Park and see shipwrecks along including the largest seal colony in the world at CAPE CROSS SEAL RESERVE. LASTLY, no visit to Namibia is complete without visiting Southern Namibia's famous tourist attraction called SOSSUSVLEI where u find Deadvlei (dead trees). It's a UNESCO world heritage site. Infact the whole place from Sossusvlei to Sandwich harbour is called NAMIB SAND SEA under UNESCO. U HAVE dunes like BIG DADDY which is as high as 325metres.

      I think I will just have to make another trip specifically for just Swakopmund and Walvis bay, I only had one day to cover both so of course I missed out a lot

    • @mzerk9324
      @mzerk9324 2 месяца назад +1

      @@towera Oh yes one day is not enough. At least 3 days. Swakopmund is bigger than Walvis Bay although Walvis Bay has 103 000 people compared to 75000 for Swakopmund. However, next time when In Swakopmund go northwards of it along the coast say 6km along the coast north of Strand Hotel that's where there is the largest mall in Swakopmund and variety of restaurants overlooking sea. It's called AM MEER PLATZ MALL. THERE is a paved prominade (walkway) along the sea from strand until the mall am talking about. So u dnt need to take a car if u want, u can just walk along the bank of the sea. I prefer to give people more information. There are also alot lodges in same area.

      @@toweraThey really look down on black faces in Swakopmund and Walvis bay. Always speak your mind whenever you find yourself in weird situation. Walk proudly on the African continent, you are home.
      Black staff undermine us more as black tourists, they think we don’t have financial means to be served.

    I don't know what time of the year you were there, but it seems like you experienced sone Bergwind conditions. It happens during the Aitumn / Winter. It would not have affected the decision so built a the town there, because it happens so very infrequently.
    Not every time you see sand blowing it qualifies as a sand storm. Especially between Swakopmund and Walvisbay, where it os the case almost daily, because the wind blows over the sand dunes on the interior (eastern) side of the road.
    In the Windhoek video you did not mention that after WW1, Namibia was actually a British protectorate, but South Africa took over from them after WW2.

    Btw, what you showed around the 9 minute mark isn't our Namibian State House (which is in Windhoek), but the German colonial governor's office. Architecture in Swakopmund is great, but often-times either left in shambles or infested with....well, see above....Still a great place in the festive season, when it it is overcrowded, including late at night.
