  • Swakopmund is the country's biggest coastal town and a resort for Namibians on holiday. The city's German origins are quite pronounced in beautiful old German colonial buildings throughout the city, making an even starker contrast for this town sitting at the edge of the Namib Desert.

    I am from Angola and I have Namibia as my second home country and I ´d say that Namibian people live in a very civilized manner. It is like that thorughout the country and Swakpmund is just a tangible example.
    You are looking for peace, get away from heart attacks, to spend your money and retirement this is the right country.

    People living There are both retirees and non retirees. Take note that that coastal region of Namibia is very rich in minerals like lithium, tin, gold and uranium. Uranium, tourism and Fishing industries. Namibia is the 3rd largest uranium producer in the world after Canada. All that Uranium is mined just 50km east of Swakopmund. Moreso, Namibia is the largest fishing nation in SUBSAHARAN Africa followed by South Africa. Fishing industry here is very large and 85% export led. Moreso, some residents at coast operate guesthouses and lodges. After Windhoek, Swakopmund has largest number of millionaires in USD then followed by Walvis Bay. Swakopmund has 75000 people as per last year National census. Walvis Bay has 103 000 people as per last year Census.

    Swakopmund is not for retirees only but for both. is only that Swkomund is one of the richest Cities in Namibia because is surrounded by many mines and a lot of minerals come from there and yet Swkopmund is connected to WalvisBay City which is more industrialized and accommodates the largest harbor in Southern Africa.

      The largest Harbour in Southern Africa is Durban port , the walvis bay is the second largest & one of the top 10s in Africa ,
      Unless you mean largest based on been a natural harbor then yes

    Lennox you are in town there are so many shops like Shoprite, Pick n pay and Woermann brock and they sell cooked food take aways such as rice, pap, beef stew, chicken, fish and vegetables and water is cheap in those shops, i wonder were you bought that expensive water from cos a 500ml water is less than N$10 which is $0.50, maybe you bought a 5l cos that $2 is for the 5l water and in Namibia you can drink water from the tap, our water is treated

    Blacks are there. Majority at that town are Blacks at 60%. Its just that they in far North and North East of that town far from CBD. People who stay in CBD area have been staying there even before independence. Moreso there are also shops in other areas. So u will rarely see black people coming in town to shop. It's mostly workers. All Government offices are also in CBD.

    The people living in Swakopmund are Namibians don't have to be Africans, We are Namibians living on the African continent. Whether we look like black, white, brown, orange, or mixed it doesn't matter to us we are proud to be Namibians on the African continent. Does Africa only mean Black? Can you please answer to my question, does the word Africa mean black?

      Swakopmund doesn’t have a specific season, you get all four seasons in 1 day , it can be hot for 1 hour then all of the sudden just get cloudy & foggy out of nowhere

    I want to correct you when you said" most black people in Swakop are only there to provide services" well it's not true most black people also live in those nice houses
    It's just that Swakop is know for having a lot of German influence, but blacks live in nice houses too

    • @abrahamshoolongela6023
      @abrahamshoolongela6023 2 месяца назад +1

      Exactly black people are not there just to provide services, but they do own businesses there too, most guest houses and B&Bs are owned by black talkless of town apartments. They should also take note that Swakopmund is 100% managed by blacks and not by whites. We are not ruled or governed by white people in Namibia. Please visitors should know the correct information before traveling to Namibia, because they see many white people in Namibia it doesn't mean they are in charge or own everything. This is Namibia our motherland we are in charge of our country.

    Try to mingle with locals like Kish my world learn to interview people and stop making your own assumptions and giving out wrong information to the world please, you are in town there are so many shops still open but you eat KFC just say thats what you want to eat go to were most black communities live not everytime telling your viewers its empty no people in the streets or only white people who live there
