Just purchased the new 2021 Speedy, it’s super comfy to wear and I honestly don’t notice any sharp edges. I’ve not worn any of the previous versions, so perhaps sharpe edges is just a personal thing! Great channel by the way😁
As an Omega dealer, I have to agree the edges feel awful. We sent our models back and requested more of the old hesalite models instead. Its a shame because the movement is so much better. We have heard that they will be better in the coming productions
Oisin, brilliant as always. I checked in Sydney and 100% agree, the attendant agreed with me too. The edges are abrasively sharp on the Moon watch, but not on the Snoopy. Thanks for the heads up👍

Awesome video Oisin. You are honest regardless of what the watch community thinks. Omega is a current darling in the community. So the apologists come out in droves. If you had come out and said a new Rolex had serious issues the mob would come out and say how right you are and how much Rolex sucks. Same with Seiko QC. The group think mentality is so close minded. I can't want to see one of the new speedies in person and show how the edges are like and how it compares to the discontinued version. Lobe the dirty rotten scoundrels references. I think we should refer to the most obstinate in the watch community as Ruprecht from now on lol
The fact the music choice is more important than the money sums up the authenticity and integrity of the channel. Keep it up Oisin...great stuff as always.
Rolex salesperson talking to Omega salesperson -"i'm sick of people coming into the store asking for stainless pieces like daytonas".Omega salesperson "that's nothing compared to the customers I get looking at the new speedmaster...."
As a neutral I find this topic interesting. Havent owned an omega in 30 years. As for ads. I’ve paid for the premium option for a while now after getting it free for 4 months with a new phone. Background play is great too. Hard to go back.
Another EXCELLENT video! Haters will be haters. BTW, I've had RUclips Red, which is now called Premium, for years. WORTH EVERY CENT!!! NOT A SINGLE COMMERCIAL!!! I LOVE IT!!!
People need to understand that fanboys of a brand need to be more harsh in their score because they love the brand. They want the brand to succeed and telling them their short comings is a great way to improved the brand. It’s called tough love. It’s hard to hear someone say negative things on the stuff you love but it’s important to see the truth.
It’s like arguing with your child’s mother… There comes a point when no matter what you say they’ve stopped listening long ago and all you can do is say I’m sorry, and move on.

These and most other watch cases are made on C.N.C machines and they use a tool bar,a tool bar has an insert for either a four or three sided cutting insert. It is not too difficult to miss the point at which the cutter starts to blunt and needs the insert to be rotated to the next good edge.Standing (or sitting) in front of one of these machines ALL DAY,is mind numbing I know because I've done it and an operative may only be required to check one in a hundred cases for faults. So it's hardly surprising that some faulty ones slip through.Do Omega A.D's check every watch?I doubt it,perhaps they should.........................................

Always grateful for your advice, it gives us collectors a heads up. And helps us look for pitfalls. I whent to the dealer and tried one. I didn't find the issue but I'm glad I looked out for it. Maybe the dealer refinished himself. Or Omega heard and corrected the problem. Or maybe QC is spotty.

I own the new Speedmaster moonwatch. Respectfully, I gave no issues. The case back raises the watch so the edges come nowhere near my skin. If I try to cut my thumb with the edge, perhaps I can, but I can do the same to my thumb with my Rolex Submariner bracelet, my Montblanc pen, or my Ray Ban sunglasses. Who does that? Dudes in Italy strolling by the empty uninhabited apartments along the water? Love your channel, one of my favorites on all of RUclips, but this non issue is a dead horse 🐎
I just went to my omega boutique here in Houston and the speedie they showed me had quite the aggressive edge on the case. I definitely understand what you were talking about now.
Great video. You said it at the start, your experience is your experience and in your experience, you reasoned that the edges were sharp and “cheap” maybe it’s an early batch issue, maybe it’s best that if your spending £6k to try it before you buy! I’m fortunate enough to afford one and I’m a fan of the Moonwatch but I’m not spending that kind of money without trying the bloody thing first! I’m not spending that money on any watch without trying it on! Buyer beware! Loved the Top Secret clip at the start!!!! Nick Rivers! Lol 😆 Val Kilmer’s 1st major role I think!
My AD in the US agrees with you. I was in my AD (who sells Omega, Rolex, and several other Swiss luxury brands) and asked about the problem on the bracelet you discussed. He said he had also noticed it--almost cut him. He thinks Omega will have to do a recall, but who knows.
When the latest version on the Omega Seamaster Diver 300 came out it too had sharp edges. I remember visiting the Omega boutique and feeling how uncomfortable the bracelet was. I recently tried the Diver 300 at the same boutique and the watch bracelet had no hot spots. Perhaps it’s an early batch situation with Omega watches.
“My dog ate my Rolex” ... yeah I would click on that... and wait to see how you cleaned off the poo and if there were any lasting smells. As someone who was looking into a new Speedmaster I thought it was something good to know. It doesn’t make me want one less. It just makes me think, I need to be happy and try on the one I get. I love the videos and content, keep up the good work.
I got to handle the watch at the local AD. it's a sharp angle to be sure and it will no doubt be addressed by Omega, but not to the place that I wouldn't wear it. All of this makes for good interaction (679 comments and counting... well done!)
I love your walk around videos.. Always interesting to watch and listen to your thoughts. I wouldn’t stress over the comments that disagree. I have a similar issue with a new Seamaster Professional 300m. The bracelet and case have sharp edges and new engraving of the Omega on the clasp is rough to the touch. I am waiting for the store to reopen to return it.
I personally like when reviewers give an idea what to watch out for. Sometimes the lust we have to purchase blinds is to looking at aspects of what we are purchasing, and when we find out too late, that purchase quickly becomes regret. I’ve read about a number of QC issues, particularly in earlier models. Chrono pushers coming off, Chrono hands not aligned and centered, and of course the dreaded sharp edges. When I bought mine, I paid particular attention to these issues. Thankfully, none appeared, and I believe these issues seem to have been addressed. Plus, they added the internal comfort extension on the newer ones. I enjoy your content and the work you put into it. Keep up the great work!
I checked the new moon watch today at an AD in California. It feels like a bur along the edges of the links from a polishing implement applied in a downward direction on the sides of the links. I couldn't feel it until I ran my finger along the underside of the links from the midline toward the edge. I found the same along the edges of the case.
Anyone can produce a video in their home, but with your watch content and the background make your videos so much more interesting. Keep up the great content and hope to bump into you next year on my first trip to Italy!
So i was bout to run out and get it and then saw your video. It made me realize that even if it was a certain percentage of watches that had bad edges, that would be enough for me to rethink it. It shows omegas overall quality IMO. They must fix the issue. I don’t want to own a bmw that half the owners have problems with and maybe I’m the lucky one. Fit and finish is EVERYTHING. Thank you sir please stay unbiased
Like my good buddy says. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. You’re an excellent collector and passionate lover of Rolex, been following you for quite some time. Keep up the good work and teaching others. Let the haters hate. This is from your fellow musician friend who’s dying to go back on tour lol
Oisin your experiences , opinions & views are yours & yours alone . I'm glad that you share them on your unbiased channel with no hidden agenda & those who disagree thats fine just shut up about it. Your channel , your style & your way ! ! !

You are entitled to express how you felt when trying the watch. Bringing this to the attention of others was the right thing to do. You could have remained quiet but why? Everyone experiences differently and you are entitled to express how you felt.
Oisin, I was surprised to see you wearing that custom Seiko diver. I started my watch journey by modding 6309 and 7s26 divers (about 15 in total, some are homage watches). Now I’m collecting the real deal. I still enjoy wearing those watches though. My learned skills of modding and now performing a complete service on them makes it all the more special for me when I wear them. It’s part of me, if that makes sense. I also have that King Turtle. I took off that ugly cyclops and changed the hands, and changed the bezel insert and chapter ring for lumed ones. You should see mine in the dark!! Yours looks great on the strap.
"How can you disagree with my Experience?", "You disagree that my knee hurts?", "Do I really need to explain this?" Looooool F!$@%in classic. It's almost like you needed Lenny to be your anger translator
Omega has fixed this problem with the sharpness, now it’s beautifully finished. As of 2023 now with a push adjustable clasp, very comfortable bracelet, so really nice piece.
Very much appreciate the clarification about the ads in the Tudor video. You had me worried for a moment you were about to go down the white outlines and silly faces route... I shouldn't have doubted you!
I just came across this video and I really don't recall seeing nether you or your channel before, but what I loved about it is the fact that you're being truthful about what you experienced with the watch and for that alone you just won another subscriber
I'll take your word for the sharpness. My 2017 speedmaster 1861 is pretty sharp on the bottom edge of the case nearest the lugs. That same edge near the 9 oclock position is beveled in the middle so that location only doesn't feel sharp. So if you grab my watch by 3 oclock and 9oclock that edge does not feel too sharp. So maybe omega "forgot" to bevel the 9 oclock area so that sharp edge is more noticeable. My bracelet isn't sharp in any way.
Screw the detractors, Oisín. I agree with every word you said, you had the balls to call it, nobody else did. Thanks, man. Stay safe and watch out for the “forkers”, that don’t have the level of probity you possess. I am grateful for this and stay safe. ☘️👍🏻
Speedy Lover and owner here. Not interested in the new model but...grabs popcorn and sips tea in anticipation of your no doubt competent and epic response.
Every time we process negative comments about things we are emotionally attached to offers an opportunity for growth and personal insight. People who fight it are missing a chance to mature by a hair every time. Anyway, you keep doing your thing!
I'd love to try on a watch before buying, but all the dealers in my area never have watches that I am interested in. It's channels like yours that I rely on for sincere opinions and experiences. Keep it real and forget about the naysayers.
I was totally shocked when you brought up people complaining about your video having too many commercials. I was literally going to complement you last week that I NEVER see any commercials in your videos i respect you for not selling out, I enjoy your work because you treat it more like artwork then just another throw away video about watches on RUclips. Thank you for that.
I went to the boutique to try and yes the case is sharp..can’t try the bracelet coz it’s being wrapped up..anyway this watch looks so delicate and fragile..😁
Haven't got into the Omega dust up/fall out section of the video yet, but Seiko? Yes, man! Love that a guy who has multiple Sea Dwellers and Subs still shows a brand like Seiko some love. Just goes to show, a good design is a good design. Give the Prospex Lux a look. Not going to lie, it's not the thinnest watch, but the spring drive sweep and accuracy? Unbeatable. I'd take that over a Seamaster 300 any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
I recently found your channel and subscribed, can I just say I have watched many of your videos and they are by far the best on RUclips, honest and concise. Thank you for all your efforts. Superb 👍
Jesus. It was a fair comment by you. Message was try it on before you buy it. I was pretty pleased for the warning and will be on the look out for the issue. That's why I watch these videos. I know way more about all kinds of watches than I did before. Knowledge is power. Simples.
I got a whole other level of appreciation for this channel.... Good on you for calling out the jewellers' bullshit and good on you for not succumbing to the eco chamber's demands.
Tried on the watch today at an omega boutique. Watch looks great. No cutting , but the bracelet while nice, feels somewhat light and cheap. But it does look nice with dramatic taper. I was at the time wearing my planet ocean 8900 which also made it feel even lighter lol
Great video Oisin. Keep giving your advice and opinions, you are really good at it. Buying any watch is a personal experience. You feel what you feel as you said. Your original video I recall showed the cheapest hesalite version? I tried the same hesalite version, didnt like the magnifying effect of the plastic and so bought the 3861 Sapphire sandwich on a leather bracelet. I tried it on in the shop and loved it. You are right the case edges are sharp. I just ran my finger across them again now to check while watching this video. They don't dig into my skin, mark or cut me but you can feel the edge for sure. I'm ok with it. Whether or not its a manufacturing fault or deliberate design tolerance I don't know or care. It didn't influence my decision to buy and your video made me look closer in the store to check I was comfortable with it and that is good. I bought the watch for the timeless design and new movement advantages. Its beautiful. I've ordered the metal bracelet separately so it will be interesting to see if that is uncomfortably sharp or not. I wonder if your concerns forecast impact sales volume to the extent that Omega modifies the production process....I'm off to buy a Mark 40 as everybody hates those too. Being contrarian in life is living.
Hey Oisín! Love your videos. I know you probably won't read this but I bought my Omega Speedmaster Professional (Sapphire-Sandwich) in December, 2022 and noticed the sharp edges (having not seen your video). I've got a 2020 RolexvSubmariner Date and 2021 Rolex Explorer 36mm and don't have this problem. And for a laugh, I was using a stapler the other day and the stapler slipped on the table and hit my suit cuff, pushing the Speedmaster a little up my arm and yes, I broke skin! It hurt! Haha On a side note, I've accidentally dropped on hard tile each of my Submariner and Explorer (about 4-feet) flat on their crystals because they slipped out of my hands due to them being so smooth (they are fine obviously and tough as nails, just a few scratches). So if you're a klutz like me, rest assured, your Speedy's not going to slip out of your hands!
Love the channel. I just pick up the sapphire version from the Omega Boutique yesterday and I can say that the edges on the one I got are not sharp. Just letting you know. I picked it up in Roseville, CA.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion...however, everyone should operate from the same facts! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is one of the best movies of all time...just fantastic!
By the way, I just held both models at the boutique and your assessment was spot-on, the edges on the base models are very sharp/raw, and what I would call “unrefined” compared to the Ed White.
I cut my finger when trying the new Speedy at the AD. I love the watch but it made me bleed. I didn't feel anything, which indicates a nice cut from a very sharp edge. High quality. I only saw a lot of blood on the display... then I realized it was from me.
My bracelet on my new Speedmaster is not very sharp, but the clasp is cut very, very sharp. I learned this after i noticed that my nice leather "man purse" aka messenger bag was all scratched up from my wrist catching it after a day of walking. Yes its super sharp...but just the edges of my clasp.
We live in a society where honesty and constructive criticism are seen as Satan's words. Fanboys will be up in arms, haters gonna hate, those of us with balanced minds will always see the reason and embrace opinion. Keep up the good work!
Mad respektos for sticking to what you said. Not taking down a video after some backlash and then making a video about the backlash is awesome. Good on you. Keep up the good work!!!!
Psychology professor here. Objections from recent purchasers are a perfect example of cognitive dissonance. People like to imagine that their attitudes (likes vs. dislikes) inform their behaviors (i.e., buying a really expensive watch like the new speedy). But in reality, people often adjust their attitudes to reflect their prior behaviors, not the other way around. Cognitive dissonance is stronger when the behavior requires greater allocation of scarce resources. Great content, btw. Really enjoy the videos.
Oisin is especially fiery in this one! is good times. I personally haven't felt the new speedmaster but would still buy one in Canopus Gold if I could afford it haha
Man. I am so sorry that you had to deal with all that! Welcome to the sorted world of luxury watch owners! I remember once on Instagram i made a comment on a very very expensive watch, basically saying that I thought it was really ugly and I didnt get all the hype. It wasnt a comment on anyone's page or watch, it was on a forum magazine. Oh man, people got sooo upset. Aggressive even. I was stunned. What this shows is the motivation that people may have for buying the watch in the first place. If you buy the watch for you, you aren't really going to care what people say about it. If you like it, you like it. If someone else doesnt, well then they dont have to buy it. And it doesnt matter if its a Tudor or a Casio. Now if they buy it to please everyone else, or to impress everyone else, then if someone doesnt like it for whatever reason, suddenly its a problem. I personally really enjoy your honesty and the ability to enjoy watches that are inexpensive as well as expensive. Hang in there. We're with you.
Haters are going to hate. Love your content and appreciate you providing a heads up about an issue you experienced so we can be mindful and check before purchasing. Please keep up the great work, I always appreciate your videos.
I appreciate the honesty and integrity here. I think the point about 'confirmation bias' is well made. We all do it and it's very understandable. But it doesn't justify rude or disrespectful comments. 'Before you buy it. Try it.' No-one could disagree with that.
Hi. I really enjoy your channel. Your reviews are always interesting. About the new Speedmaster... I don't think you're wrong. Some of the case edges are "sharp," as you say. But I'm not sure why you feel case sharpness necessarily = bad manufacturing. As a newbie collector of some vintage watches, I've learned that sharp edges are a good thing, since they indicate a watch hasn't been over polished. I realize new watches are different. Still, when you say it has "sharp edges" I'm not sure why that's so negative - unless the edges (or bracelet) were SO sharp they were cutting your skin. Have you heard of anyone wearing the new Speedmaster and having their skin be cut or injured? If so, that •would• be a big problem! I've tried on the new Speedmaster (a few, in different stores) and the watch felt fine to me. I slid it up and down my wrist. No cuts on my skin. No scratches. No discomfort. Granted, I wouldn't say it feels like a Rolex. But while I'm no expert, I don't think a Speedmaster is necessarily •trying• to feel like a Rolex. You know? If I do buy & wear the new Speedmaster, I feel certain it won't cut me, scratch me, or make me feel uncomfortable. That being said, I respect your feelings about it. If it's not up to your standards, of course, you shouldn't buy one. But if you do happen to get one, and wear it... I feel confident it won't hurt you or even make you feel uncomfortable. I could be wrong, but I think you'd probably enjoy it. Just my opinion, of course. :) Also... if you feel the bracelet is a problem, they're happy to sell it to you on a strap. You'll save money that way, too.
@@thomas181212 Agree. And agree, great channel. Love his take on watches, even when I don't agree (but I usually do). Wear your new Speedy in good health!

Don’t sweat it Oisin, the truth still hurts ignorant people, keep up the honesty 🙏🏻👍

Nothing wrong with that! It's a human thing to do lol
Same. lol

Guilty but I don't like admitting it
Yep I did that yesterday with the Tudor Black Bay 58 I've just bought!
You're a righteous dude for bringing the sharp edges to our attention.
Always love your perspective on these "controversial" topics. Great stuff Oisin!

I am glad you are loving the King Turtle - I have the same one - for you to wear it when you have all those other expensive watches is heartening.
Glad to see that there’s a watch enthusiast on RUclips who differentiates between luxury goods and Veblen goods.
You have my vote. I could not be happier that this video does not involve any capitulation. Bravo!
“When you are able to maintain your own highest standards of integrity - regardless of what others may do - you are destined for greatness.” Napoleon Hill
You are entitled to express how you felt when trying the watch. Bringing this to the attention of others was the right thing to do. You could have remained quiet but why? Everyone experiences differently and you are entitled to express how you felt.
To be honest I use U Block Origin and didn't realise that youtube used commercials, i haven't seen an advert on RUclips for years
Oisin, I was surprised to see you wearing that custom Seiko diver.
Man, you have to put a warning in before playing the Panerai video, that thing pumps me up and now I have to go run a marathon.
Omega has fixed this problem with the sharpness, now it’s beautifully finished. As of 2023 now with a push adjustable clasp, very comfortable bracelet, so really nice piece.
Totally agree, the speedy bracelet pulls on arm hair. Shave your arm hair and it’s a comfy watch or swap it for a nato strap.
All those clips ! How much entertainment have we all enjoyed in a very dark time ...thank you sir...it’s very much appreciated!!!
I'd love to try on a watch before buying, but all the dealers in my area never have watches that I am interested in. It's channels like yours that I rely on for sincere opinions and experiences. Keep it real and forget about the naysayers.
I forgot to add that you were the person who got me to buy my first Omega!! With the knowledge I've learned from you. And I did do my own homework
Superb 👍
Thats why I have you tube premium
Jesus. It was a fair comment by you. Message was try it on before you buy it. I was pretty pleased for the warning and will be on the look out for the issue. That's why I watch these videos. I know way more about all kinds of watches than I did before. Knowledge is power. Simples.
Is your Chopin critique a metaphor for your Speedy critique? 😂
It hurt! Haha
On a side note, I've accidentally dropped on hard tile each of my Submariner and Explorer (about 4-feet) flat on their crystals because they slipped out of my hands due to them being so smooth (they are fine obviously and tough as nails, just a few scratches).
If youre seeing any ads on YT it's bc youre not using UBlock Origin (add-on / extension) on your browser.
Love your channel from France, continue to share your experience!!
Mad respektos for sticking to what you said. Not taking down a video after some backlash and then making a video about the backlash is awesome. Good on you. Keep up the good work!!!!
Missed opportunity to have Lenny come on and tell all the pushbackers to "get F-d and stay F-d" lol. Love the content, keep it up boss.
😂 yeah I bet that was hard keeping Lenny out in a Tourette’s sort of way
Psychology professor here.
Well done and thank you for making the first video and flagging up the issue - and bloody well done for making this one, Oisin 👍
I really want to have a glass of great bourbon with this dude and just bullshit about watches, and discuss life in general. And by glass of great bourbon, I mean a bottle of any good whiskey.
