I had the mini mini 2,3,4 and tbh they were amazing drones but I just didn't use 90% of what was on offer on each drone. So the neo for me is a basic fun flyer with little to use captures photo's abd videos . So right up my street. I did get he flymore so have more control than a standalone version. But a very informative video thanks.
An interesting review I enjoyed very much. I would like to point out that your comment about adding the controller capabilities took away from the intent of the drone. But you also demonstrated the controller capabilities enabled you to retrieve the drone after it could not return against the wind.
@Mr4iron4 thanks. It wasn't actually the wind that stopped it returning, I've noticed a few times and on others videos that it often doesn't fully return to the user. Fine on flat ground as you can simply walk over to it but on top of a tor like that I had no other way to retrieve it other than waiting for the battery to die or getting it phone out.
Hi, I have a question if you could answer that would be great... If we connect the drone with remote like NC3 and then change the setting of video quality reduce the sharpness and all. AND fly the drone the video comes out better in that particular flight with controller, BUT next day if we start the drone in autonomous mode do we still have the same setting what we set on controller or it will get reset to factory. In short, are we stuck with auto setting in autonomous mode every time start it without controller OR it will change forever once we change it from the controller ?
Thanks for the videos mate, I've been considering getting either a Hover air or the Neo for its intended purpose. I do like the idea of the Neo for some b roll, do you find much use for it over just using a camera in the normal way on a tripod? I really wish the Neo was folding though like the Hover air but one can't deny that the Neo is a bargain at that price point & it's 4k isn't it? Sound quality using the phone definitely sounded better on the Hover air. I'm undecided on image quality between them, I think you will need to do a dedicated side by side on that ;)
@LoneWolfExplorer problem with the footage is they perform different in different lights. The neo perofmed well I think in the evening sunset shots,at least better than earlier in the day whare it was blown out but it is 4k so crisper picture. I'm chatting with hover air at the moment as they contacted me after the first video and hoping to get a demo model of the new one to do a real side by side comparison but for the money. I think the neo is great if just using for b roll but it would be in addition to my normal camera set up.
The Neo is a fun drone and a lot less hard on your pocket than other drones in this class. I wish reviewers would stop treating it like it's a mini 4 pro; it's just for fun and price relates that.
That's exactly what I've been saying. Ise it as an autonomous flying camera and it's excellent value for money. Start connecting it to an rc and using it like a drone, all you've got is a poorly performing drone that's more expensive than it needs to be. May as well buy a mini se.
@@jackanthony9963 my phone. I don't use a controller with this drone. I don't see the point in it. I would just use my mini 3 pro if I were to take a controller.
There isn't an rrh function in autonomous and in all other modes it pretty much comes back to your hand. Rth needs a gps lock which if not using a remote can't work but the visual sensors works pretty well in the other modes.
Mate. You hit the nail on the head with Dji's Neo " Expert ". My neo wasn't allowing me to enable direction track as a mode for the custom button. So I rang them up and chose the option for a neo "expert". Like with you he ummed and arrred and eventually said I needed to use a controller. I said rubbish as you can fly with your palm and I should be able to use direction track by just pressing the mode button on the drone. He put me on hold for 5 minutes and said that I needed to make sure I had a strong WiFi connection. Again I put him right by saying that's not correct either. After being put on hold for a 2nd time he said I would need to send it in for repair. I left the conversation feeling like I definitely knew way more than Dji's neo "expert" and now my little neo is on it's way to the Netherlands 🙄
I've just returned from the West Highland Way and I used it extensively in mountainous terrain. To your point, it performed very well WITH THE CONTROLLER and I had no issues. I was also able to customise the image a lot and put it in "pro mode" to change various image parameters. What I think we're seeing is a badly positioned/marketed product. The controllerless options are really useful for the hiker etc and provide a great deal of flexibility and rapid deployment. The controller pairing gives you a cheap drone which can do what most people need. But the middle part - manually controlling with a phone - it just doesn't cut the mustard. I don't think I'd recommend that mode to anyone. If you need manual mode for anything other than flying around your house/garden, you must get the controller.
@TheRamblingHiker I just don't think there's much point in using this as a manual drone. May as well buy a mini model as they're way better in all aspects. To me the whole point of this drone was being able to fly autonomously and you don't have to carry a bulky remote. Just a fun drone for family use or b roll. If you want a higher flying, better quality film drone then people should just get a mini with an rc. That's my thoughts.
It is not that confusing: $200 or let someone fly your $1,200 drone to try? Use the Neo to practice FPV flight instead of your $1,200 Avata 2, let your 10 year old use your old phone to fly the Neo in the back yard or teach your 10 year old how to use a controller and how to fly the drone? Like the DJI Tello (87 grams), the Neo (135 grams) is not rated for Level 5 'Fresh Breeze' 19-27mph, I won't be flying it above a Level 2 'Light Breeze' 4-7mph
I totally agree. I bought the Neo drone without any controller, quick, easy, fast and no faff, but if I then want to use it with a controller, it defeats the purpose of getting this drone, you are far better getting a Mavic mini 3 or better. For the price the Neo is great on its own. Instead of holding your phone and talking to it to record your voice, you can plug in a wireless mic into your phone, and it will work fine, it will save you holding your phone to record your voice.
@nfinnigan yeah I did say in this video that in my first video I actually used my dji mic connected to my phone and people said it sounds better when using the phone direct but makes no difference to me.
So I learned something quite interesting for the USA use. Given this drone and don’t quote me on being 100% accurate, but the Neo does not have Remote ID. So let’s say for example, I want to make a music video based on my music by Evan Geistfeld, if I was to take the drone and have it make a video based with my music and monetize it, then per legality if found I used this video to monetize it without the FAA being involved or made known, they can issue a massive fee for using it to promote or gain money from such production. Very interesting, given this is marketed to RUclips and TikTok users. Just a future warning to those of you that have this drone preordered. Heard this from a friend who had the drone preordered, then found out from higher government that this is going to be implemented, since the ban is on standby. So I’m really going to reconsider my preorder. Don’t get in trouble guys, it’s not worth it. This is mainly used for home videos and not to promote anything to gain money on RUclips etc. Plus you can only use a mic 2 by DJI and no other external wireless mics, which makes a 200 drone, well into a 550 dollar drone that is your home video recorder. Is this false info? Or is it indeed correct?
I'm pretty sure that the Neo has inbuilt GPS. The spec sheet says it does. GPS + Galileo + BeiDou, Hovering Accuracy Range vertical ±0.5 m (with GNSS positioning), Horizontal : ±1.5 m (with GNSS positioning). When using the controller you can see where the drone is on the map and this could only be done if the drone had it's own GPS. The website says "Don't worry about returning home; when using palm takeoff or mobile app control, Neo will return to the takeoff point after completing its course." This also suggests GPS. In the video on the DJI Neo website they have a shot of someone on a paddle board launching the drone from their hand and performing a helix, they also have multiple shots of someone on a rock with a big drop off doing the same but with the circle. Saying that, they also have a shot of someone running with the drone doing front facing directional tracking and we all know that doesn't work well at the moment.
Yes it does have GPS but you have no way of knowing it the drone has connected to satellites without the controller. Hence the issues. Plus, as noted in my first video, their advertising is totally misleading. If you check the comments you'll find people who have lost their drones because of this.
@khanimania I think the best thing with this drone is to just use it as an autonomous drone and forget the remote. I don't know why they diluted it's main aim by giving it the option of being remotely controlled. It just causes issues with it. Get a dji mini for that.
Hi, I bought this drone to take family photos when out with the kids on walks and holidays. I think you hit the nail on the head.100% right It's ok for general photos videos (quality not amazing) but it's not very stable in the wind ,I wouldn't recommend taking it up to high or water. I found it was quite good following my son while running in the countryside.
Spot on. It's great for that and having fun. I'll use it for b roll when I can't be bothered to bring the full drone set up. I used it with my son as well on his scooter at the park and made a little video of him. He loved it.
I was in Vancouver, BC two days ago on the newest software version flying over the water with the remote. I just stopped videotaping and was taking photos wow, twenty feet from the shore over the water. When the drone decided to fly sideways, hit in the roof of a restaurant. Luckily, it went towards the land and not out towards the ocean. There is problems with this drone over water. No matter what they say with remote or without. I was able to retrieve the drone on the other side of the building on the ground. Undamaged luckily.
@Mark-j9x5w I would guess hardware. The new hover air has an upgraded sensor system that now allows it to fly over water which this obviously doesn't have.
I'm enjoying the NEO. This is my first drone. I got the full kit and it's tricky learning to control it. I'm glad I didn't buy the second hand mini, it would be trashed already
@NoviceWildCamper it's a bonus that I can still get shots without the controller while learning to fly. Even my 3 year old was able to launch it, run around giggling her head off as it followed/ chased her, and then have it land in her hands
In manual mode, using the phone controller, you can go up 50 meters so please explain that? I have also flown over water using the phone manual controller.
@getfitover40 my entire point (and the point in an autonomous drone) is that you need something to control it to do that. It won't do it 'without' a controller. I must have said it a dozen times.
@@NoviceWildCamper The way I understand what you were saying, is that you needed an actual physical controller to get over 10m, you can get over 10m using just the phone app in manual mode is my point. Birds eye also let's you go over 10m even just using the drone on its own. DJI really does need to clear this up for us.
@@getfitover40 Since the number of satellites is not displayed on the screen without the remote controller, it likely indicates that the drone is still relying on its sensor to execute those smart shots. Need to do more tests to find out...
@@lingoting Yes in Phone only mode you can not see satellite connections but I know the NEO is obtaining at least some of them as I live in a Blue Geofence Zone that requires me to authorize the NEO, and when using the Phone app, I do have to check a box to be allowed to fly in my area Blue Zone. I am not sure about drone only as there is no way to check a box and for the most part at home I generally use the App.
@TheClosetMonster Going up with line of sight you should be OK going fairly high. I have seen people go 1000+m away from home point with the NEO and still able to get a decent signal. I would be most concerned if there is stuff in the way like buildings, hills and trees.
@@NoviceWildCamper@NoviceWildCamper on the drone or when recording with the pocket 3, did you use any of the internal recording or did u just use the audio from the mic that gets baked in via Bluetooth?
Great information 👍 I'm on my 4th drone, no more once I lose this one. I did lose my mini 3 in a Loch due to not understanding the issue with the sensor. The mini 4 pro has been a revaluation for me who isn't a very good at flying. Way point and cruise control has taken the ideot out of the equation 😅 nice to see the Asta gear in the background 👍
@greyhikes5236 yeah I don't think my mini 3 pro has way points. At least it didn't last time I checked but may have had a software update since. I'd like to use those in future videos.
I own a bunch of DJI products, FPV and GPS, but I'm not a fan boy. I call it like I see it. In terms of video quality between the Hover and the Neo, it's subjective in my opinion. In the example you provided, the Hover looks mushy and over sharp while the Neo looks washed out but with more detail. I prefer the detail as opposed to over-sharpened mush but that NEO washed out image is gross. I do have a NEO on the way. I couldn't resist for the price. Thanks for the comparison and the info.
@originafreerangechicken they're both good drones if they're used as a simple flying selfie cam and yes agree on the quality. The 4k on the neo does make it sharper but it really blows out in the sunlight although I thought it did quite well on the sunset when it wasn't as harsh. Be interesting to see the 4k hover air when that's out shortly and do a comparison. They could jump ahead but they've got to get their price right, too expensive in my eyes. If a known respected brand like dji can do it for £169 selling their brand image then I'm sure hover air could too.
I'm curious on how you think a drone can use the gps on your phone. I have built drones and taken dji's apart and I can tell you it takes very little room for gps to be installed into a drone. I looked up the specs for the dji neo and it says it has gps and again, please explain to me how you think a drone can be accurate in any way with the gps device located on the phone and not the drone.
@@NoviceWildCamper I've read up on it and supposedly gps is working when in palm mode... It takes a min or 2, sometimes, for the drone to talk to enough gps sats (7 to 8 minimum) and if the drone is used before that minimum count, you will experience great inaccuracies
@Guyjharrison fair comment. But why do dji not only not mention this on their drone set up, like every other drone, or tell me over the phone that it doesn't work without being connected to an rc or phone? It may be that the in built GPS works to know its horizontal latitude and longitude but not height and uses the downward sensor for that hence the issues over water and drop offs. Also the GPS will notify if in a no fly zone if using without an rc or phone which shows it on the screen.
@@NoviceWildCamper Yeah, just finding gps info for it was not very forth coming. In my experience there should be redundancy involving GPS, digital gyroscope, barometer, inertia sensor, digital compass, and whatever other proximity sensors. I'd be surprised if it only used one sensor.
@Guyjharrison who knows. So many reports of issues I've seen and drones lost. Problem is this drone is designed to just take off from your hand, normal drones you wait with the controller watching for the satellites to link before taking off. They should have some kind of no fly verbal warning if it has to wait till it links to satellites.
the biggest issue is actually flying over water or a dropoff using your phone, no RTH, and will hover in place then land on low battery, when out of the phones wifi range, you would have been in trouble if that had happened over water and was just beyond the reach of the phone. it absolutely does have internal gps, for position hold and height, it's in use in all modes, but you have no return to home when you fly with just your phone or in fully autonomous modes.
Repeat that test with your phone and pretend you're on a cliff or flying it over the sea, fly it till it's out of range, that will be the fate of many neos.
I've seen a few already. My initial issue was the fact that they advertise showing it going over water and drop off without using an rc or phone yet clearly admit it won't do it.
@@NoviceWildCamper very true, but it almost certainly will, provided if it does stop, like yours did, it's within range of your phone to be flown in manually, it definitely has a GPS onboard, but probably doesn't use it for the automated flights, i believe you can instigate them before the internal gps has found a signal, if the internal gps gets a signal before you activate an auto mode, and you are inside a geofence/NFZ, it will not take off, but if you quickly tell it to do a circle or something manually rapidly after turning it on, it will do the maneuver despite being inside an NFZ.
It’s a great drone for introducing people to drones with a controller though. The fact you can use it with a controller or with goggles lets people learn on a small cheap tough drone
@HorseBusiness-uk a mini is better to learn on though and then you don't have to go buy another drone when you want to upgrade. This drone is designed to use on its own and without the need to carry an rc. If you have to carry an rc you may as well get m a mini you get better footage quality, longer flight time, better wind handling, longer distance. The list goes on. I don't think that putting a drone like this that has the tendency to disconnect or fly off as has happened to others, is good for a beginner. Just needs to be used as it is, an autonomous fun drone for b roll or kids to play with.
I'm not sure why you think it would drop automatically if it's over 10m in height without a controller? In the manual it clearly says it would land in place if it goes into Attitude mode, which happens when there is no GPS signal and insufficient light. As long as it still has GPS lock it wouldn't drop even if it's above 10m in height.
@SceneryFromSky so, if it goes over a cliff that you are standing on, it will see that it is more than 10m above the ground yes? And as you said, it will land. Hence, drop, off q cliff. Same thing. And at the end of the day, I only thought this was the case but DJI confirmed it. I'm just passing the message on.
Maybe when the drone is in autonomous mode, it doesn't not use the GPS to position itself, so when the downward sensor can't detect anything below, it lands.
@@NoviceWildCamper That's not how it works. It will only land in place IF it goes into Attitude mode, meaning if it loses GPS connections AND does not have enough light to maintain positioning. If it has either one of those available to it (GPS or enough light), then it will function normally.
No, if the downward sensor cannot detect the floor it will lower, until it can. Which is the same as landing. If there's no floor, it will continue to drop.
stil lwater could be a problem, moving with lines and waves should be good; the neo can do all that but to be 100% sure they make u buy the fpv controller and fly manual ^^
@brad1908 yeah I did that in my first video. I think it's 60m but the whole point of this drone is for it to be autonomous and not use a control. That's where the issues lie.
Hello @NoviceWildCamper, we are sorry to hear about this feedback. Would you mind sharing with us about the hotline you called and the call time of the conversation? We will further check and review this case with our relevant team to enhance our products and service. Thank you for your understanding.
It was sometime between 10 am and 12 on 9th September. The issue is had was that you show the drone flying over water with no remote but this clearly shouldn't be done and this was confirmed by your team. I have had several comments where people have lost their drones due to this.
Great content, but may I suggest something for the future: When you speaking, it would be great if you could speak more clearly - sometimes it‘s hard to understand what you‘re saying.
my dgi Neo just took off on me and flew into the water. Had it in follow mode while I was crossing a short river. guess you answered my question. Gunna try and talk to support tomorrow for a refund. but not hopeful. I just did a buyer beware video.
@TheClosetMonster I didn't get the refresh on this drone either cos its not going to be used in situations that I'm going to lose it really. I'm not using it as a drone, I have a real one for that..... with refresh 😂
@TheClosetMonster Well, if I ever upgrade to a more expensive drone I will. The cost/loss of this does not break the bank and was just to get some first time beginner experience. Quite the first lesson to learn.
Why does no one ever mention the problem with Android? I can't even get the APK to download onto my phone let alone install. Is everybody who has the neo using Apple products?
Have you added ND Filters to yours? I just got an ND8/16/32 combo from Freewell. The quality is much better as I can set the ISO to 100 most of the time, and fix the shutter speed at 1/60 (which is what you want if you're doing 30 fps). With the zebras on, you only see them on the brightest parts of the sky. Here's an example this morning: ruclips.net/video/UjeYFlf0Stk/видео.html
@TheRamblingHiker I haven't but then again you have to use the remote to set those camera settings which to me defeats the object of a self flying drone. I'd only bother doing that with my mini 3 pro.
For 199 you cannot get the top of the line logical. I saw so much video about the Neo people saying video quality and flying with WiFi and your phone not getting range and losing the signal. Please outside you use a remote….
@AlcyonOdyssey the whole point is to use outside without a remote. Why would you want to use a drone inside? It's to get a different perspective. It works fine outside with no remote like the hover air. That's what it's designed to do and for the price it does it well. Just don't use it like a normal drone with your phone or an rc and you'll be fine so long as you don't fly over water or a drop off.
the hover is oversaturated. look at the details in the NEO. Neo color are natural and you can see the details in the flowers the grass and the sky. too much color in the hover. the colors in the hover are not true.
@triniinfinland of course but as I keep saying, the whole point of this drone is to be used as an autonomous drone not an rc drone otherwise just buy a mini and get better footage, flight time, wind resistance, height, distance, everything. Makes this drone pointless if you use an rc.
@vince-n if I'm constantly mumbling then you wouldn't be able to ask that questions as you wouldn't know what my video is about so wind your neck in baldie. And name one thing the neo does that the hover air doesn't. WITHOUT using an rc cos that's the whole point in an autonomous drone. Only an idiot would think this will replace a real drone for £169
Personally I would fly it without hesitation over a drop and water, I guess DJI are just erring on the side of caution, when flying without a controller. I watched a canoeist use a Neo without a controller follow him along a river and it did just fine, he wanted it to land in his hand while on the water and this is where it became impossible, the canoe drifts and can't be held steady under the Neo, he had set it to follow him so just rowed to shore. I've also seen one flown over the breaking waves of a beach, again without issue. My Mavic Mini, Mini 2 and Tello all share the same downward sensors and none of them lose altitude when flying over a drop, they maintain altitude. Flying over water, care must be taken because the downward sensors can 'lock' on to the flow and make the drone drift.
@pdtech4524 I saw that guy and he couldn't get it back even using his phone to control it. Luckily his mate was under it still to catch it when it automatically landed. Dji have told me categorically that is should not be flown over water or drop off unless using an rc be it a phone or the remote control. All drones say use caution over water but if you watch any hover air advertising or spec, it very clearly says not to as it uses the downward sensor to gauge its height. If on water it cannot judge and if a drop off it could plummet due tent being able to see the ground. Neo is the same and that's what dji told me. If you use the controller on the dji (which isn't an option on hover air) then it will use the controllers GPS to know where it is in relation to ground etc. There's plenty of people commented here and done videos where they've lost their drones due to thus issue without using it with a controller, which is basically the selling point of this drone. Autonomous. I've seen loas flying it over water to, but nearly all are using an rc.
@NoviceWildCamper I'll be getting one in a couple of weeks so will do some testing but if it behaves like the Mini series and Tello, which I have no doubt it will, as they all share the exact same IR downward sensor then I suspect it will be just fine over a drop or water. Care must be taken of course when controlling with your phone as it is using WiFi and will have very limited range!
@@NoviceWildCamper that’s categorically wrong. The Neo has its own GPS, it doesn’t need to use the “controller GPS”. The only time it will have trouble over water is if you palm launch too fast and it doesn’t have time to acquire the GPS lock needed for its positioning.
@SceneryFromSky yes it does have GPS, I never said it doesn't. But GPS doesn't control its height. It uses downward sensors to see the ground OR had to be connected to a controller. Hence DJI have confirmed that CATEGORICALLY you do not fly over water or drop off. They have even emailed me this confirmation and have offered me money by way of recompense for the confusion that their marketing is giving.
@SceneryFromSky The Neo does have GPS but it's not really an accurate way of determining altitude because GPS is only accurate to +/-1m, instead most drones use a barometer sensor to accurately determine altitude. The downward sensors are only really for determining how close the drone is to landing or for optical stability to lock on to ground features. So the downward sensor will detect your hand and how close it is. I'm not sure they really have any relevance on determining altitude! My Tello flies off a drop without issue and it shares the same downward sensors.
I still do not understand how this drone can be called an AI drone as I would have thought having this so called ai the drone could use its camera just like other ai robot products like a simple vacuum cleaner that can use its camera to detect and avoid dog poo, surely this so called ai drone can use its camera to avoid things like trees and other simple objects?
It needs proximity sensors for that otherwise it couldn't work out what it was or the distance. At the end of the day there's no reason why they can add an AI sensor into their existing drones so they can fly autonomously like this one without a controller. That would be better. Stepping down rather than up.
Hi! Just saw your video and ive found out the answer why my Neo didnt circle around me as requested without mobile or controller. I was on a pier in the beach and i went to the end to capture a nice view with the city but after pressing the circle mode the Neo flew away and it didnt move anymore staying still on top of the water. I had to manually bring back so i kinda feel the brightness of the water like you mention might have blocked everything.
@@NoviceWildCamper on the same day i drove into a high cliff mountain around my village and tried the same mode near the edge of the cliff that has an amazing overview over the village and again the circle mode didnt respond as Neo tried to lower altitude. Luckily he was close to the terrain. I was trying to control NEO with voice commands cause i feel it a great tool for the recording and some voice controls such as far or higher didnt worked. My RC2 controller is on the way so i kinda feel that you need to now well how this NEO reacts. But yea i agree on your comments that this is not what it should be. im sure a lot of people will loose NEO when not using controllers =/
@DanRastovich it's simply bad marketing. Hover air make a massive point of saying, no flying over water or drop offs. But dji show it doing just that making you think it will work on its own. Bad really.
@@NoviceWildCamper for sure the independent autonomous drone with 6 modes has some serious hidden limitations that will lead to a lot of losses and theres already some feedbacks here on youtube alerting for that! Hope they solve this issues and make this NEO more safe and more relient cause i belive theres potential here already in terms of versatility of all round drone. Thanks for your honest report! best regards
It's marketed as an automated selfie drone that can also be used with a remote controller. That's why they sell it as a stand alone autonomous drone. All other drones come with an rc cos you have to have an rc to use them. This, you don't. Hence it's a camera dron but... can be used as a normal drone albeit a poor version.
Do not, i repeat, do NOT fly Neo above water when using quickshots out of your hand. But after a couple meters in, Neo decided to land....yes on water!!! Before i knew, Neo was sinking and now Neo is chillin on the bottom of the lake 😢 Unfortunately i don't have DJI Care but i did reported a flyaway and they are looking in to it know. Hoping to get a new Neo 🤞🏽
@SkydiveToma fingers crossed buddy. They show it doing this on their own advertising videos so you could complain false advertising if they don't. I said it wouldn't work but people are still arguing with me. Iy may not in every case but if there's a chance it will its not worth taking it.

You said, when it returned, that you had to bring it in manually. Did you do that with a controller or with your phone?
@@jackanthony9963 my phone. I don't use a controller with this drone. I don't see the point in it. I would just use my mini 3 pro if I were to take a controller.
Other reviews have mentioned the return to home is only supported when a controller is used with the Neo
@grossi46 that's an even worse experience than mine. Nightmare. I think they've missed mark with this drone.
@@NoviceWildCamper Absolutely
Once upon a time USA was a free country...
This one is for a person like me new to drones , thx for the video, best is use remote connected for anything related to range
I think you hit the nail on the head.100% right
It's ok for general photos videos (quality not amazing) but it's not very stable in the wind ,I wouldn't recommend taking it up to high or water.
Apparently even in remote control mode the downward sensor can be affected if over water. I've seen a few people have similar issues.
could a firmware update sort it? or is it just purely hardware?
@Mark-j9x5w I would guess hardware. The new hover air has an upgraded sensor system that now allows it to fly over water which this obviously doesn't have.
I'm enjoying the NEO. This is my first drone. I got the full kit and it's tricky learning to control it. I'm glad I didn't buy the second hand mini, it would be trashed already
The whole point in an autonomous drone is not having to control it. It should work on its own. That's sort of my point in this and my last video
@NoviceWildCamper it's a bonus that I can still get shots without the controller while learning to fly. Even my 3 year old was able to launch it, run around giggling her head off as it followed/ chased her, and then have it land in her hands
That's exactly what it's designed to do. Be a fun drone. To operate as a proper drone it just isn't up to dji drone standards.
Do you use the mics internal recording or Bluetooth recording straight to the camera?
@@nyrubin on the drone?
@@NoviceWildCamper@NoviceWildCamper on the drone or when recording with the pocket 3, did you use any of the internal recording or did u just use the audio from the mic that gets baked in via Bluetooth?
I never dow load audio from the mic. I think just if you did when using the drone it wouldn't block out the rotor noise either.
Can we use earbuds connected to the phone to serve as a mic ?
I don't see why not, the dji mic is essentially doing the same thing but in all honesty I don't feel the spind quality is worth using it
I own a bunch of DJI products, FPV and GPS, but I'm not a fan boy.
@@NoviceWildCamper absolutely concur
I'm curious on how you think a drone can use the gps on your phone. I have built drones and taken dji's apart and I can tell you it takes very little room for gps to be installed into a drone. I looked up the specs for the dji neo and it says it has gps and again, please explain to me how you think a drone can be accurate in any way with the gps device located on the phone and not the drone.
Speak to dji. The gps doesn't work fully without being linked to a controller.
@BadwolfFPV exactly but even then it could just suddenly drop if the surface below doesn't suit.
@@NoviceWildCamperI'm still skeptical it will do that.
But it definitely has a problem. And you nearly showed it very well.
Wow! Hover Air has amazing color..
Do you think they will add rc support?
You can use an rc
@@NoviceWildCamper I thought it was just the RC2
@Ghost47518 I'm not sure which remotes you can use but it can be used with an rc and the fpv goggles and hand control.
@@NoviceWildCamper Alright thanks

@@onemandrone no probs 👍
@lingoting exactly.
No, if the downward sensor cannot detect the floor it will lower, until it can. Which is the same as landing. If there's no floor, it will continue to drop.
stil lwater could be a problem, moving with lines and waves should be good;
the neo can do all that but to be 100% sure they make u buy the fpv controller and fly manual ^^
Which defeats the object of an autonomous drone. My point entirely. Just buy a normal drone if that's what you're looking for.
Oh, and people are saying it really isn't very good as an fpv either.
Not sure if it's because of the phone or the sensor capability, but it will go up to 30m whilst connected to a phone
@brad1908 yeah I did that in my first video. I think it's 60m but the whole point of this drone is for it to be autonomous and not use a control. That's where the issues lie.

@shonasophia I'm using android no problem 🤷🏼♂️
@@NoviceWildCamper that's absolutely true!
Most people are preferring the hover air though. Better exposure in bright light.

I works better with the rc1 controller you can even fly higher
@triniinfinland of course but as I keep saying, the whole point of this drone is to be used as an autonomous drone not an rc drone otherwise just buy a mini and get better footage, flight time, wind resistance, height, distance, everything. Makes this drone pointless if you use an rc.
why you constantly mumbling? speak up man! neo does way more than a hover x1. I have both and hardly use the x1.
Love from Nepal 😅❤

It needs proximity sensors for that otherwise it couldn't work out what it was or the distance. At the end of the day there's no reason why they can add an AI sensor into their existing drones so they can fly autonomously like this one without a controller. That would be better.
Last sunday i executed a dronie from my hand while standing on a jetty because i thought it would be a nice shot considering Neo would fly back to me after 10 meters.
But after a couple meters in, Neo decided to land....yes on water!!! Before i knew, Neo was sinking and now Neo is chillin on the bottom of the lake 😢
Unfortunately i don't have DJI Care but i did reported a flyaway and they are looking in to it know.
@@NoviceWildCamper Maybe it may work in some situations but i know for sure i will not doing this ever again without a controller. Thanks man!
DJI is sending me a new Neo. It's shipping atm 🥳👍🏽
@SkydiveToma nice one. That's basically an admittance that this drone doesn't perform how they show it performing.
Máy bay dji neo của mày bị lỗi rồi .không ai mua dji neo mà bị như mày cả.chỉ có máy của mày thôi. Đừng nói xấu dji neo nửa
Read the comments pal, there's tons of other so don't make a sweeping statement just cos your a dji fan boy.
Neo has a horrible camera. I returned mines
@@exil3dlivecom it's not the greatest. Hover air is better.
Shoot! I was going to buy 3 of them. I have a mavic2 pro but it fell down the stairs as it ran out of battery
My video quality was not what I expected but I'm going to keep it
What's your thoughts about the video quality?
@triniinfinland it's ok just not in bright sunshine as it blows out too easily.
