- My 2010 Weber Genesis grill wheels were starting to fall apart. In this video, I'll show you how to replace them. Also, I use aftermarket wheels that cost $6-7, much cheaper than Weber replacement wheels that cost $20.
For this grill, the important characteristic is to choose replacement wheels with a 7/16 inch stem. I used these: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
Shepherd Hardware 9807 3-Inch Swivel Stem Caster, Rubber Wheel, 7/16-Inch Stem Diameter, 175-lb Load Capacity
Note: The wheels I chose do not have brakes on them. I don't use the brakes on my grill. If you want brakes, choose a different wheel that also has a 7/16 stem. Развлечения
7/16 stem diameter. Awesome. The important part up front. Short and sweet. Thank you! I give you my highest compliment: You'd make a lousy politician!
I just went through the installation process for the OEM wheels and had some problems. The new OEM wheels come with replacement plastic anchors so if you want to use the anchors you first need to knock out the old anchors. The old anchors usually fall out along with the old wheels. Once the anchors and wheels are out I made the mistake of first putting the wheel into the anchor before pushing the anchor up into the housing. There was rust inside the housing and having the wheel already attached to the anchor made it nearly impossible to get the anchor all the way up into the housing. Then I discovered that the wheel cannot be removed from the anchor once it is inserted. That’s a one way trip. I eventually got the wheel back out but it required fixing the brass lock ring before reinstalling. For the other three wheels I first cleaned out the housing a bit and then put lithium grease all over the outside of the anchor before installing the anchors up into the housing. That worked pretty well. I also put some lithium grease on the shafts of the wheels and pushed them up into the already installed anchors without a problem. Just wanted to share my experience in case someone goes through this process. DO NOT INSTALL THE WHEELS INTO THE ANCHORS BEFORE THE ANCHORS ARE INSTALLED INTO THE GRILL HOUSING!!
I'm about to R&R the wheels on my Weber Genesis right now, and I'm glad I stopped in here first. Thanks very much.
Thanks for that video. Great info on size and type of wheel. Easy peasy
Excellent video and the net wheels fit perfectly.
Thanks man! I need to do this. The plastic wheels the Weber Genesis came with suck anyway.
Thanks for sharing; very helpful!
Thanks for the tip. I ordered on amazon.I just re-did my deck with Fiberon composite and the Weber wheels were leaving scuff marks on the deck.
