      @@MattLunaFishing I have caught a bunch of fish on spinnerbaits and the lake I fish the most has some big Pike in it that love to destroy spinnerbait, so I go thru some. I like the idea of catching fish on a lure I made!

      @@MattLunaFishing no fishing lures, I normally just buy Nichols spinnerbaits and they work great, I can catch a bunch of bass on them no problem, but a big Pike will twist them up and you can only straighten it so many times

      Yeah i hear you on that! The ones i make for myself have a lighter wire than most people will buy. They don’t hold up well but they get more bites and when i can do it myself for much less than buying one it’s all good

    Excellent video with great tips like the wire size & more. I just bought that mold & look forward to making some spinner baits. Do the beads & middle blade stay in place without those spacer tubes ok?

      Glad you like the video! Thanks for watching. This is a great mold. The beads work just like the spacer. If you use the beads you don’t need the tube. If you use a tube you don’t need the beads.

    Could you use aluminum that is melted from cans instead of lead? That would be a nice way to cut the cost of buying lead

      Blades: Colorado and willow
      Clevis:Solid Brass Clevises Nickel Plated
      Hook: 3/0 owner spinnerbait hook
      Lure eyes: 5/32
      Skirt material: chartreuse, white
      Barrel swivel: you need one with split rings on each side

    For the lead, could you use like lead weights to melt or do you have to have a certain type of lead?

      Are you talking about old lead fishing weights?
      Most of the time pretty much any lead is fine to use.

      Yeah you can totally use that, but that’s a more expensive way to get the lead. Check your recycling centers to see if they have any they will sell. Also, sometimes tire shops have some you can get too. Wheels have weights on them and older ones are made of lead. You might be able to get those to melt down as well.

    What pliers do you use to bend the end of the wire?

      They are called round nose pliers. They are really inexpensive. Most tackle supply companies sell them. I think they are around $5 or so.

      That skirt tool is super old. I bought it at a swap meet a loooong time ago and haven’t seen one since.

    Does this end up being cheaper than an average quality store bought spinnerbait? Have you calculated total cost of materials?

      Yes, after getting all the components you need, it is cheaper, when you factor in how many you can make. I use a lighter wire so the durability isn’t as good, but i think they get a lot more bites. That’s the main thing it boils down to for me. You can also make your own high end baits with premium hooks, blades, and components and there will be some that you can buy from the store that cheaper, but not near as good.

    I actually just got my Do-It brochure on Saturday, nothing really jumped out at me in any of the sections. I will say though, their prices are pretty reasonable when compared to others.

      Do It molds has the Midwest finesse jig for your ned rigs and the Midwest finesse plastic mold too!
      I make the same ned rigs from the mild mentioned above and really like it. I have the plastics mold on the way too!

    I noticed that you didn't preheat or smoke your molds first. Looks like it came out just fine regardless.

      I don’t smoke my mold. I preheat them depending on how hot it is outside when I’m pouring. If i have issues I’ll spray blaster dry lube into the cavities and that helps. Here’s a link to the spray: amzn.to/3WekMfF
