I hate when people make this stuff look so effortless. Not just the carving of the hands and fingers, but draping the fabric to get it to look just right is no easy task either. Erin did an awesome job with this build.
This is so awesome! What were your process steps? Did you do the standard undress and submerging of the cloth in the mud and then redress, or did you spray the mud on the already dressed prop?
Realm of Shadow thank you! It was a bit of both. The shirt was difficult to get on & off, so the monster mud got painted onto it. The rest was dunked and draped over the statue. Any areas that needed extra were painted on with chip brushes.
That turned out great! I think those may be the best " carved" hands I've ever seen done! Love seeing statues made other than the standard draped standing statues. A lot more effort but this is the result. She did an amazing job!
+WolfPakProductions It was that way on its own. She didn't have to smooth it out or anything. I think the weight of the mud helped to stretch the fabric out so that you didn't see many wrinkles.
I don't have a specific recipe video. It's just latex paint and drywall compound and should have the feel/consistency of pancake batter. I'd also recommend once the monster mud has dried, to give it a coat of Drylok Original to help really stiffen up the fabric even further.

Wow. All I can say is wow. That is phenomenal.
Breathtaking nice!
Awesome prop! The draping of the fabric is excellent. Great work!
The fabric is so delicate, really beautiful. I'm guessing you built the plinth as well? If I feel up to it, I might attempt this someday.
Yes, that’s correct. You should go for it!
That's absolutely brilliant. Wonderful job. How do you get the mud so smooth? Thanks for sharing.

That is an amazing prop build Erin! The detail in the fabric folds is fantastic! Well done!
This is beautiful. Is there a specific monster mud recipe video that you recommend?

Nice work! Wish I had room to store stuff as big as this.
What a beautiful prop! So hard to believe that it is her first prop!
Doing the YouTure of all the DWD entries; Beautiful refined prop, and first effort?! - - man! Good luck!
+Attic Hatch Thanks! I'll be sure to pass on your kind words to Erin.
This is fantastic! Is this a full time outside prop? How does it hold well in weather ?
Not full time, just 2 weeks in October. But overall it's held up extremely well after all these years.
One of my all-time favorite statues.
Fantastic job!! My stuff is crap compared to this.

Michelangelo of Halloween props.
That’s very kind of you!
She's so pretty!
Thank you!
What fabric did you use? I've only used burlap but I'd like to try different fabrics for a more detailed finish.
We used a woman's dress shirt from a second-hand store and the rest was old bed sheets.
Amazing job.
