As a Canadian, it's fairly easy to get into he country. While I was there a few years ago, I met a handful of Americans. Some went to fairly extreme lengths to get into the country. It's wild to me that a country that is closer to that is closer to Cuba than the Bahamas can't freely allow people to visit.

just as easy for someone from the US to enter Cuba as a Canadian. We do have 12 flights per day just from South Florida. No "fairly extreme lengths", just buy a ticket and go. I've been to Cuba 4 times so far this year. 4 more trips planned before the end of this year.

@bobmichaelsphoto fair enough. The folks from America I spoke to made it seem really difficult.

This video makes Americans visiting Cuba harder than it is.. go to Support the Cuban People, stay in one of hundreds of wonderful AirBnd, bring cash, get a Visa and of course your passport and GO! I just visited Havana as an American and I had ZERO issues arriving in Havana and returning back to America, it’s easy, just go!! Don’t over complicate it!!

I visited twice a few years ago. Great experience, and it's a damn shame that the US has been standing with its boot on the neck of Cuba for so long. Allowing Americans to engage with Cubans is probably the best way to bring about change in the Cuban government.
The American embargo gives the Cuban government a convenient scapegoat to blame for all of its own failures.

"Allowing Americans to engage with Cubans is probably the best way to bring about change in the Cuban government."
      2 things.
      1) Change in the Cuban government? How would random tourists giving money to the economy change anything about the government?
2.1) Why would you want the Cuban government to change? The only effective policy change I've seen anyone recommending, is for the US to cease hostilities towards Cuba. But that's a demand towards the US government, not the Cuban.
2.2) What exactly are the "failures" of the Cuban government? They provide healthcare and education for free, they have large democratic participation including putting constitutional reforms up to referendum (take the recent pro LGBT reform to the family code for example), anyone who doesn't earn foreign currencies is exempt from income tax, there is exceptionally little protest to their policies, they have a near 50/50 split of men and women in government, etc.
Quite frankly, if I woke up tomorrow and my government (the South African one) was as good as the Cuban one, I would cease to have demands of mine overnight. All the issues I have with it, would be gone.

@@hewhomustnotbenamed5912 We tried with the Obama administration, and did not work out. Have you read the Cuban constitution, or the Penal Code? It’s forbidden for a Cuban national to thrive and progress, because if they do, then come power and influence, which threaten the status quo of the regime. Everything is illegal in cuba, and it was designated that way, to have absolute control and manipulate the people. Do not travel to cuba.

Heading your video "U.S. Tourism to Cuba Is Illegal" is not the way to promote tourism. This video appears to intentionally provocative instead of promoting visitation. Mention 12 flights per day. Or, "support of Cuban people" is exactly the same as tourism. I have traveled to Cuba about 75 times with less problems in total than "Belly of the Beast" people in their one trip.

Nevertheless it is technically illegal and the FBI has harassed people for going there in the recent past. I have no criminal record yet I've been harassed with a secondary inspection by both US and Canadian Customs for crossing the US Canada border.

This comment section is filled with tankie Castro lovers. The fact that the woman in the video is a professor makes me sick. She’s not an intellectual, she’s an ideologue. There is no blockade on Cuba. And she knows that. She’s a far left liar.
The people of Cuba are not small minded. Their government is evil and knows exactly what they’re doing. These evil pigs enable the evil Cuban government. Cubans want change. Liberate Cuba from far left tyranny!
