"I did biceps curls while playing Lunar"
Of course you did David
LOL, I came here to write this exact comment. David, you're awesome. Keep being you. 😂
Someone send this man a Lunar Eternal Blue Disc 3
Well, the PS2 copy protection was cracked last year, so if someone has an ISO and a capable printer?
I just looked at my Amazon history any it show both Lunar completes bought in 2001-2002 from Amazon. Which means I probably have never opened either and they are just hanging out. I loved games back then but I just got a crazy job in IT and didn't have much time to play.
I loved that game
Not sending mine. I’ll never get rid of any of my working designs stuff.
Now we know the secret to his body!! Lol
The feels when you look over at your PS1 collection and you've got everything on this list and the honorable mentions he talks about.
I miss having game demo disks! I think the rarest game i had was Thousand Arms, i also had the Lunar collectors box and the Arc The Lad collectors box. It was really nice to have them, these days you barely ever get a collecters edition thats not digital.
I used to love collectors editions. The last one I bought was for Dragon Age Inquisition. It was an empty case with the game and digital download codes...
@@Revz8bit they just dont seem worth it now.
With how valuable some of these games are it’s mind blowing that the developers don’t try to keep them in production, there is obviously a market for these games
Videos like this are a lot of fun especially since we all have so many memories tied to many of these games, and even memories about how we got them. Thats a strong list there for sure. I would definitely like to see more of these videos. I'm currently cataloging what I have and came across a couple games I swear to god I own but cant find ANYWHERE (and its really bothering me) and one of those is Vagrant Story. I also couldnt get into that one. So many GREAT PS1 JRPGs from that era.
This madman never started SotN...can we get a stream of him trying it perhaps??
"I would work out while I played Lunar"
this has to be the manliest yet nerdiest thing I´ve ever heard
The DQ games on DS/3DS are crazy expensive. Glad I purchased those when I did.
I love working designs, it's been awhile since I've played the lunar games like 20 years. Great video
I hate how irresponsible I was when I was a kid. I had both Lunar sets (plus two of those Ghaleon puppet pre-order bonuses) and Suikoden 2, all of which I ruined over the years. I wanna smack the shit out of 13 year old me.
Same, I was so careless
Sold an in-box copy of Dragon Warrior 4 for NES for like $5 when no one knew or cared what it was. Argh!
You have a great collection, would love to see similar ones like for the PS2
I owned every single game in this video! I still have my Lunars and DQ7, but had to sell the rest 15 or so years ago because I had hard times too.
I have (all but 2) those!
I really missed out on Arc the Lad and Vagrant Story. I did panic buy them off of the PS3 store, digitally.
As somebody who has seen games I loved disappear for years and years, pre-internet., it genuinely worries me when things might be lost forever.
Lunar 1 and 2 complete are my 2 favorite pieces of my collection. My Suikoden 2 is loose, also. I loved Valkyrie Profile.
I feel you about selling off a lot of my games when I was young and needed money. I eventually got most of them back, thankfully.
Loved the tour.
I love Lunar sooo much! Most underrated RPG ever
Dang, I had so many of these games growing up.
Great collection! Heartbreaking about your Lunar 2 copy.
That’s an impressive collection. I myself just bit the bullet and got a copy of Koudelka. I adore shadow hearts with all my heart and soul and I needed this important piece of shadow hearts’ origin before the Price of it shot into unattainable territory.
One of the reasons I like your channel is your taste in games. It's like looking back on my teenage years at what I was playing! Thanks for the vids!
You're a man of refined taste, I have all the same games and luckily got most all of them when they were brand new.
This! This right here is one of the major reasons I watch you man the amount of time and effort and spirit personality you put into your videos is great it doesn’t need to be flashy or over produced to be amazing! Also man you really should play symphony of the night it’s SOOOOOO good well except the VA lol you should stream it on the other platform I’d sub for that!
A lot of single disc games where put into dual/quad cases so they had the option to put in demo discs. If demos were included a label could have been added to the box. If not no label is added, but you still got the larger box. So they had the ability to add a demo of extras if they wanted pretty late on in the process.
Thanks so much for sharing your awesome collection!!! I'm binging your collection vids and getting excited about building my own back up after having to sell a bunch😭💸
Wanted to add on here... living in a desert is great for collecting retro disc games. Disc rot is definitely a thing and is largely due to humidity. When buying any PS1 games, check it with a flashlight by pointing it at yourself through the disc, disc rot will be tiny little holes that keep it from working right... for those living in humid regions I recommend a desiccant of some kind near your collection.
I also had to sell my collection of everything I had to help pay for my moms cancer treatments. I lost so many great games I’ll never be able to find again so I understand doing what you have to do.
Those electronics boutique preowned stickers are just too classic.
The most expensive game I own is "Pocky and Rocky 2" for the SNES. It's loose unfortunately. Loose: $501, CIB: $1050, New: $4100. I wish I never opened it and lost the box 😔
never played the 2nd one, I must download it
This is a fun video to watch, always really enjoy your enthusiasm. Have buy a few games based on your thoughts over time
What an amazing list. Thanks for sharing with us!
I have 49 PS1 rpgs that I havent touched in a while. I might need to start selling soon
Man, I feel the end of the video. In my early 20's I had to sell both Complete Lunar's I had to buy groceries.
First time I see that Arc the Lad collection it looks amazing, I didn't knew it existed
When I had my PS1, I kept all the game discs in this black case for CDs. I never kept the original cases. I was still pretty young and my uncle bought most of my games or burned them onto another disc. Those are some pretty rare games you got. I wish I still had some of my retro games.
Regrets when collecting are parts of the deal. I share a few myself about Xenogears and Xenosaga. Missed opportunities, messing up my own disc and such. Also, when I look at your FFLegend 2 in background CIB. It's pretty eloquent and I wish I had bought it back in the days also! Such a childhood-related game!
I'm so happy I hung on to my lunar box and all its gear. When working designs went out of business their games shot up in collector's value. I couldn't ever find arc the lad back in the day, because it was pretty expensive new and internet wasn't really a thing.
That's how Dragon quest was born before it we had dragon warrior those were the days man
I got tired of all the cracks and scratches on my favorite PS1 RPG cases so I bought a 10 pack of quad CD cases and replaced all the fronts and backs of the broken ones; no more cracks or scuffs.
I’m so happy for you that you had the sense to keep your games. I’m eternally sad that as a kid I threw all my NES/SNES boxes directly into the trash after getting them and ended up trading the majority of them (along with my other games throughout the generations) in for other stuff. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. So I have to vicariously live through you all getting joy out of your collections 🙂
nothing wrong with emulators
Thanks for sharing your collection! It was fun to hear a bit of history how those games came to you or sadly the accident. I have DWVII, and the 2 Lunar. I am missing the standees but I think I have the other components. I still need to finish DWVII , I got 70 hrs in years ago and put it down
Lunar: SSSC is my most prized PlayStation game. I adored it. The CD soundtrack was brilliant. I own Eternal Blue but never finished it. I ended up working and in college and never dug into it again.
The demo CD at the beginning of the video made me curious: did you ever play Chocobo Racing, David??
As a fan of Mario Kart and Final Fantasy I thought it was a breath of fresh air and fun title.
None of my ps1 cases made it to this day in one piece sadly. Someone would always step on my games or drop them sooner or later. Anyways great video! David's been killing it with his content lately!
I really like you channel! It's quite apparent you have a passion for gaming.
Sweet video. Always cool to see another collectors games. It happens, you had to do what you had to do haha. At least it wasn't like my younger bro, he had suikoden 2, valkyrie profile, lunar sss and as a kid he traded them into gamestop. I can't remember for what but i know i cringe thinking about it haha
You need to play Symphony of the Night! 200% speed run this game is what I do when I need to relax. So fun, and such a beautiful game. I usually use emulation though. Get the lapis lazuli and ring of vardna especially that way
I just sold my copy of Tron Bonne for 700 and people let me know I could’ve gotten more. I had no idea it was worth so much but I’m glad someone will be happy to add it to their collection.
That feeling when I have 2 CIB Suikoden 2. Believe it or not I actually had a harder time getting a hold of the original Suikoden.
I have a sealed copy of Dragon Warrior 7 and a CIB copy. Favorite PS1 game ever.
Great games, all. Xenogears cast such a large shadow over everything I played before or since, much like Shadow Hearts 1 and 2 did a generation later.
I have most of these games, too. When I got them I had no idea how rare they would be, just loved my rpgs. Had to rebuy Suikoden 2 though at one point, since my first one had disappeared.
Great video, as always. It was really neat to see all these expensive RPGs from your private collection. Also love to hear you're from Acworth. I grew up there as well. It makes me wonder if we ever crossed paths since we're likely close in age.
Really? Small world!
Thanks for sharing! Those are some great games! Those big box sets are gorgeous!
Great video and jealous of your collection! Can’t wait to see your next collection video!
I couldnt get into Legend of Dragoon but loving older JRPGs I guess I really need to give Legend of Legaia a shot.
Lunar: SSSC had 5 different disc art variants. Disc 1&2 only, but you had Dyne/Alex, Luna/Althena, Alex and Luna/ Ghaleon and Nash, Magic Emperor/ Vile Sisters, and then a fan art version.
Vagrant Story is fantastic, it go’s for a hefty price now, I’ll never sell it, told my wife put it in the coffin with me when I die.
Quite the established plan:
“But you are different. Always calm, detached. A smooth flow of thought into action.
It’s almost as if... you had no soul...” - Sydney Losstarot.
i need to give VS another try.
I bought it when I was a kid but I never got around to playing it.
@@josepartida1711 same
one of the few originals i own is vagrant story. i like you could never get into it. i was so excited for it too. one time i saw a stream of vagrant story on twitch and the streamer was having a difficult time. guess it's common for a lot of people. mine's pretty mint too.
Talk about throw backs! I loved the Lunar version for the PSP. It was updated about with better translations and minor graphical update.
My three RPG In High School were FF 7. Lunar and original Wild Arms.
It's amazing seeing the value of these. I was really surprised by castlevania for some reason.
I got my copy of Arc the Lad Collection at the Media Play that used to be by North Point Mall in Alpharetta GA in the early 2000s :D
It was marked down to around $20-30 for months so I finally bit. They also had Lunar 2 but I didn’t get that one. Did get Lunar 2 later over the internet before prices really shot up.
Great video. I got lucky a couple weeks back and got Suikoden II CIB for 250 mint lol.
Around September 2001 I had to sell my PS2 to keep my car on the road so I could get to work and college. Weirdly I never sold any of my PS1 games, so my collection is very similar to David's save for the Working design titles. Getting ahold of those in the backwater that is Newfoundland Canada was effectively impossible.
I found my loose copy of Suikoden 2 in a game store in 2012-13. A buddy and I went to check the place out since they had just opened. We walked around for a while, talked to the guy working the counter and left. Half way home I realized, in a "Holy $#!^ !" moment that they had a loose copy of Suikoden II in the game case. I spent my whole shift at work the next day anxious that someone was going to swoop down there during and grab it. Ran there immediately after work and grabbed it. The guy even gave me 10 bucks off because it was loose and I just missed the CiB version they sold a few days earlier.
There's this seller on Etsy that sells replica cases with covers for ps1 games. If anything it'll make those loose games fit better in your collection :)
i love keeping the old price tags on all of my rarest games. almost as much as i love having the games themselves
Fun video!! Man I remember being a dumb kid and selling some of my games. One of them being Lunar 2 complete. But I just recently got that one back in my life! And that sucks to hear about your Tales of games. It happens though. I managed to get Tales of Destiny loose last year.
Looking forward to seeing more of your collection!!
Dude, you made a good call on Vagrant Story... Lol I have an almost infinite capacity for RPG pain, but that demon of a slog BROKE me. Idk wtf everyone is talking about with this whole “it’s a masterpiece” shit...
Working Designs were ahead of their time. LRG is basically doing the same thing now but making a mint from doing it.
Dude your a beast!!! Curls inbetween lunar 2 battles? Imagine if you did that with tales of phantasia, you’ll be like the rock lmao
Loving the xenogears music, I'm a BIG fan of that game
I had all of those games, but my friend sold them to a pawn shop for 2 packs of cigarettes while I was imprisoned in a brig in Connecticut!
Working Designs were pioneers for what would become "Collector's Editons" today, but it didn't help they were $100 (150 to 200 today) new in the 90's so they tended to just not sell. Among collectors they are still considered the gold standard for fan service and quality of the deluxe edition merchandise. Only NISA comes close in my opinion
I have a few valuable PS1 games in my collection as well. I remember buying Xenogears brand new from EBGames for $52 (after it was out-of-print) and it had one of those Squaresoft demo discs in it as well. I guess the extra Square disc makes the difference as the Greatest Hits edition is only worth half as much.
Legend of Legaia was great! I never beat it but a friend had it and used his gameshark to get to lvl 99 to beat it.
Some of those games are selling for more since the PS Network is closing this summer. Nice collection!
On eBay I have occasionally seen sellers sell game discs individually without the rest (case/instructions/other discs, etc.). It's a bit of a long shot that you would be able to find a replacement for the cracked Lunar 2 disc this way since it's clearly rare, but I bet if you persisted and checked here and there relatively consistently for whatever amount of time you would eventually be able to find one.
I will go to my grave saying Legaia is one of the greatest rpgs I’ve ever played
It’s crazy how much Arc Lad goes for complete. I bought mine brand-new in 2019 for around $70.
My most valuable PS1 games (all complete) are Castlevania Chronicles, Symphony of the Night, Dragon Warrior VII, Legend of Mana, Persona, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, Tales of Destiny, and Xenogears
OMFG I still have that Lunar Mediallion thing too
Awesome video!! We have almost the same taste in games I have almost all of these except for suikoden 2 and dragon warrior I still have my copy of valkrie profile (I had to buy that one a few times) keep up the awesome videos!!!
I owned every one of these at one point (except Arc the Lad). One of my biggest regrets is selling that Lunar set. What can I say I needed the cash.
I still have my Suikodens, was offered $300 for Suikoden 2 at a retro gaming store but I couldnt part with it. The price for S2 seemed to go down online when Sony added it to the PS3 digital store but with that disappearing in a month it should appreciate in value even more in the next few years. It’ll be interesting to see what these games are worth in five years if they dont get remastered, remade or digitally re-released.
I sold most of my games a few years ago, but I wish I had held onto them now. I had most of these.
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR TALES OF DESTINY FOREVER ITS SO EXPENSIVE ON EBAY IM CRYING WITH YOU
I had a copy of tales destiny but i traded it in 🤷♂️😔
@@everedgex2808 😭😭
My most expensive game is worth over $850. That's Magic Knight Rayearth for the Sega Saturn. I bought it @ Toyrus at the end of the Sega Saturn for a mere $20. I was into anime back then and see Magic Knight Rayearth as a game and bought it. I didn't know it was rare until 2009-10 when RUclips gamers/channel told me about it.
That's amazing!
My lunar 2 came with a ghaleon Punch and Judy doll. I bought suikoden and suikoden 2 for 60 dollars together at Electronic Boutique
Darkstalkers and Darkstalkers: Night Warriors also fetch a pretty penny. :)
Love your videos. Despite how much some of these are worth I could never sell most of my ps1 rpgs, to many memories playing them with my siblings. Lunar 1/2, Xenogears, Legend of Mana and final fantasy 7/9 are works of art that I'll probably hold on until my little dude is old enough to he forced to play his dad's 30+ year old games haha.
Please play symphony of the night. It's incredible
Very fun sorry about lunar 2 I still have my amulet hanging from a mirror. A little Easter egg is it can be seen as a prop in the movie silent horror
I have Suikoden II. I used to have both Playstation Lunar games but not anymore. I do have the Sega CD versions of both Lunar games however.
Great collection David.
I will keep my eye open for a case for your Suikoden 2 ok.
Loved the video.
Proud to say I own all these CIB.
On a side note: Rumor has it Tales of Destiny is getting a Switch release. Hopefully it's the PS2 release
Nice. Out of the ones you have there I have Legaia in the original case, Dragon Quest 7 OG case, Bof 4 same, Suikoden 2 game and manual. Got Suikoden and the og case. Would love to get my hands on both Lunars again.
I had the exact same experience with Vagrant story
You know, most collectors complain about gamecubes skyrocking in price, but they should take a look a ps1 rpgs, that should make them relativism things.
I remember finding my complete pristine copy of suidoken 2 way back when, cost me 100$ at the time. Got all these but sadly my lunar copies are both used and were quite abused by the previous owner. Breath of fire 4 though I got day 1 on preorder. Breath of fire 2 was also quiet hard for me to find back in the day, I finally found it in a little hole in the wall shop, label has a small tear but I got it for 25$ so young me was satisfied.
Damn man you are such a cool-ass fucking guy. I can’t get over it lmao, you are litteraly what everyone aspires to be
I have 3 of these games in my PS1 collection and I need to find 2 more of them along with another game to complete my collection.
I had almost all of these games. Just like my magic cards, they were all traded in over the years. Such a mistake. So many great games here. You should totally do a live stream play of Castlevania SOTN. I played through it recently on the old psp.
I didn't realize Valkyrie Profile is worth so much. I bought it new when it first came out years ago and planned to play it. But that day never comes. So the game is still on my shelf unopen with the plastic seal around the cd case.
I sold my mint condition Grandia for $100 a few years ago to pay rent. Along with Pokémon Crystal and my gameboy SP. I miss them everyday.
I know it's not the same, but the first two grandia games are on steam
