Equestria Girls Makes Zero Sense, Here's Why

- My Little Pony's spin-off, Equestria Girls, definitely has a fun concept, reimagining ponies as humans. However, this is not without strange plot holes and inconsistencies between the two worlds. In this video, we'll be going over a few of these weird unexplained questions, and I'll be trying to answer them to the best of my abilities.
Strap in for a lot of overthinking and pointless analysises.

Short explanation is, Hasbro wanted to compete with Mattel's Monster High; that's why the characters are teenagers in HS instead of adults, that's why they kept their colorful skin, that's why ancient authority figures are reduced to school principals and directors; they wanted to emulate MH as much as possible regardless if it made sense or not within the show's internal logic.
I honestly think they just didn’t want to give them human races.
@@imthebossmermaid3648 same, I doubt that Hasbro wanted to deal with the backlash
I mean Doug and Big City Greens also have colorful skin for humans too.
I think they did it cuz them being in high school would've most likely been more popular considering a lot of kid shows/movies feature middle schoolers or high schoolers. It could also just be that the way they age in human years vs pony years could be different
No wonder theyre human design looked so similar to MH
I think it would had mad a lot more sense if the characters in Equestria Girls were college students instead of High School students because going by the age group of the main characters in friendship is magic they were obviously young adults. If the ponies were meant to be teens they would had been shown in the story as high school students just like the cutie mark crusaders being elementary school students.
Yeah but remember, this show is aimed at kids, so most things won't make much sense/ be very logical to older audiences. Let's say whoevers watching the show is under 10. A LOT of shows are centered around highschool characters( no matter how mature the show is) because it attracts more people (ex. Heartbreak high, NHIE, Twilight, Heartstopper) The ponies being in college may seem too mature(?) Bc like I said, the shows aimed at a young audience, and middle school or elem. would be too young. Mlp being in college seems super realistic tho and I rlly love the sound of it
Yeah I think it’s like the other comment said. High school is really hyped up in a lot of movies and stuff already so putting them in high school instead of college was probably geared towards kids who wouldn’t notice or care about inconsistencies. Plus people would probably start asking about bills and stuff if they were in college.
Also I don't get why they turn into half ponies in rainbow rocks when they are human and I don't get why they have unnatural skin in the show/movie
@@Hirogaru_Shoujo122 I'm guessing that they did they the unnatural skin colours so stupid people wouldn't berserk about all of their racism nonsense. Though even from when Equestria Girls all that stuff did look odd at first. They would had looked better with natural skin colours though.
Who says they have the exact same aging system(and school system) as we do? They may not have high school at the same time. It’s a different dimension, after all
It is not implied that the Mane Six are adults. They are adults. The show even says it.
Filly Dash to adult Twilight on season 5: "You are a full grown pony!"
Applejack to Apple Bloom: "This is grown-up stuff".
Rainbow Dash in The Cart before the Ponies: "And it's probably best keeping all the grown-ups on the sidelines. But... what are we supposed to do now?"
Just look at this conversation between Scootaloo and Twilight in Growing Up is Hard to Do:
Scootaloo: "I'm pretty sure if you wanted to go to the fair, you could."
Twilight Sparkle: "Sure, grown-ups can do a lot of things that foals can't. But there's plenty we can't do either. Like right now, I can't find a single reference to this flower!"
It doesn't make sense for a teenager to be the principal of a school. Twilight is an adult. Equestria Girls defies logic because an adult (pony Twilight) becomes a teenager for the sake of the plot.
The pony CMC seem to be nine or ten yet the human CMC go to highschool and seem to be older. Equestria girls ages are inconsistent
Good point!
I always thought of them to be adults, but apparently Mrs. Faust said they're teens, so I didn't really know how to properly phrase that sentence.
i think in equestria they might just consider teenagers as adults?
@@EffMinus Faust only worked on season 1-2 so maybe they just aged while the show went on like each season = one year? by equestria girls they would be at least 17 or 18 which would make sense since they are seniors in high school and EG doesn't follow the same format as FiM since it's movies and not episodes
@@EffMinus When did she say that?! Rarity literally owns a business, how is she a teenager?
“Would she be born a principal?” absolutely broke me
Now I want the scene where animators somehow make it clear that a baby is a principal, and everyone is losing their minds
just like that ep in gumball where Nicole was born? "it's a...president?" xD
The birth of a principal is something the human world has never seen!
Also Sunset Shimmer’s age is confusing. Celestia says she use to be her student, but Twilight didn’t know about her existence until the first movie. Twilight became Celestia’s student when she was a kid.
I doubt Sunset's that old (she's way younger looking than Principal Celestia, Vice Principal Luna, and the other Canterlot High teachers) considering she's in the same classes as the rest of the Rainbooms and Schedule Swap shows she takes advanced physics with Sci-Twi so she wasn't held back either. Plus no one in the show comments on Flash dating Sunset before the first movie in the sense of him dating an adult (and I doubt Sunset is a pedophile).
Sunset could've easily been say 13-ish when she left Equestria for the human world (considering pony society does work differently than humans, her being 13 when she was Celestia's student ain't far fetched) with time likely passing differently in Equestria than the human world.
It might be that not only are ages inconsistent between worlds, but time flows differently as well. We know Sunset had won the previous three fall formals, suggesting she's been in the human world for at least that many years, but maybe it had been a decade or more in Equestria.
I don't know if the comics are canon to the show, but in one issue tells Sunset's backstory. When Celestia is teaching Sunset (who's around the mane 6's current/normal age at this time) Twilight is shown as a foal in the background.
Just makes it like 10x more confusing...
@@asiodioweioi The show went through so many changes in vision, changes in staff and corporate meddling over time. Trying to reconcile everything together is an impossible task.
she always looked like 21 to 23 years to me
I always had a theory that the mirror world only started to really exist after sunset went into it for the first time, so it took elements from equestria and reconstructed it into what it is now.
it would explain the conundrum with the principles, and maybe ponies just age faster then humans, idk
edit: oh right the Dazzlings... hmmm, actually maybe since Starswirl didn't use the mirror it didn't fully create the world, maybe the Dazzlings were stuck in limbo until somepony entered the world by mirror, I actually really like this theory because honestly I never liked any interpretation of the Dazzlings being 1000's of years old but not aging in the human world, it seems dumb to me.
that's basically the Last Thursday theory for the inhabitants of the EG world
that's quite spooky!
I read the theory about the Dazzlings being unknowingly stuck in limbo for like a thousand years until sunset, a magical being, passed directly through the portal which makes sense, that means they would’ve physically been in the human world for around 3 years until the events of EQG1 (so all the headcanons of the Dazzlings causing the world wars have been laid to rest
so thats what a Combine Elite does in their free time…watch My Little Pony…interesting choice solider…
@@catraaaaaa luv ur username
The formation of the world doesn't work if you take into account "Forgotten Friendship" which had established that there was a link between the Human and Pony worlds going back to Clover the Clever. Clover was stated to have chased a sorceress "through a portal into another world" before it's revealed that the "other world" was the Human World and the memory stone used was buried on what became Canterlot High grounds, but it's likely that they could have either remained in limbo until Sunset passed through or they'd merely been in a "static state" until around the time equivalent to "Friendship is Magic"
Another thing about the ages; if we're going off the age correlation in the video then what about Sweetie Bell, Scootalo, and Apple Bloom? We see them running around Canterlot High, but in the Pony World they're basically in Elementary School, maybe Middle School if we're being generous. Same thing applies to other characters like Snips, Snails, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.
This always was so confusing to me!
The pony CMC are likely to be nine or ten based on the information we have. It is possible for a ten year old to go to highschool although that would be under situations that don't really apply to the human CMC so maybe the human CMC are thirteen or fourteen so they wouldn't be to far off.
We would have to first know the age gap between AJ and AB/Rarity and SB/etc.
It could theoretically make sense if the Main 6 were in grade 12 and the CMC were in grade 8 with an age difference of five years (going by Canadian high school rules, since the show is pretty much a Canadian production).
Though in the pony world, the age gap seems to be greater than five years, so pick your poison.
I always though CHS was a 6th through 12th grade school and the CMC were around 6th-8th grade in the human world.
@@lunakingsley.7247 I've always thought that the CMC and Spike were both around 10 at the start of the show and around 14 by the end of it, given their general demeanors and them being in the equivalent of elementary/middle school, plus gaining a cutie mark being a bit of an allegory for puberty. That also puts Twilight at around 22 or so at the start of the show (assuming a 10 year gap between her getting her cutie mark and Episode 1), which would make sense given that she seems to effectively be a grad student. Plus, since we know that Sunset was Celestia's student _before_ Twilight, she'd probably be around 28 during the first movie. Which has some *_very_* unsettling implications, given that she was hanging around in a high school.
I'm pretty sure Spike becoming a dog is more metaphorical or symbolic. It displays his loyalty and closeness to Princess Twilight. He is her #1 Assistant in the same way a dog is a man's best friend.
Yeah, but he would've been a human too. Owlowiscious is Twilight's pet, not Spike. Also, he's Twilight's adoptive brother, because she's the one that hatched him.
@@djstarkidmashups8536yeah, making Spike a dog felt more like an insult than symbolism
By that logic, RD should have been a dog since she's the Element of LOYALTY.
It makes no sense. He's a SAPIENT being and Twilight's best friend aside from the Mane 5.
@@GreenKirby808 And it screwed him badly in fanworks since everyone is acting like its a taboo to have him be human. Which results him getting left out alot in many cool crossover fics since he's stuck as a dog.
People, ITS NOT THAT FUCKING HARD TO MAKE HIM HUMAN.

the flurry heart as a principal thing made me stop breathing
Same lol
Also Humanville High 😂😂
Flash sentry is kind of an oddity, too. All of the ponies have the same interests in the human world, except they don't have jobs. (Except apple jack, who seems to still work on a farm). But Flash was a guard in the Crystal Empire, but has a band in the human world, while Shining Armor works (don't know what he was actually doing though)
Idk maybe that means Flash will enter the military soon in the human world? Like, I guess his protective spirit still carries over into the human world since he helps Twilight, but so does everyone else.
Idk maybe pony Flash has musical hobbies that we don't know of, but why not just make him a Crystal Empire musician then??😭😭😭
They do have jobs; they all worked at the mall. Sunset worked at a sushi joint, Twilight at a tech support joint, Rarity at a fashion store, Pinkie at a dinner, Rainbow at a sports store, Fluttershy at an animal shelter; while applejack worked at both a smoothie joint, and on the farm. Flash was a jobless though.

Sci Twi: "Perspective on what?"
Abacus Cinch: "Why, for the Friendship Games, of course."
about the aging slower in the human world, what if the ponies age the same way real horses do?
Lauren faust made a twitter post about it recently, horses can live up to 40 to maybe 50 years old if I'm correct, so it might make sense?
I've wondered this, but it isn't supported by the show unfortunately. There is a flashback to Sweetie Belle's 5th birthday party where she looks even younger than usual and acts like your typical 5 year old. Horses in the real world are fully grown adults by age 4-6, and considering sweetie belle is definitely nowhere near adulthood, I think it's safe to say ponies don't age like their real-life counterparts.

For as much as I love the Equestria Girls Trilogy (so much so that I even saw it several times in four languages), I need to admit that, when it comes to its internal logic regarding the main series; its existence and execution are actually really bizarre.
I gave up a long time ago to try to find a cohesive logic that explains this spin-off, but that doesn't mean that I'll stop loving these movies despite of all of their flaws and plot holes, and I can laugh every time that I notice more of these flaws.
In summary, I have nothing to give to the discussion more than the fact that I loved the video and I totally would love a second part.

Since the Canterlot people are in crystal prep. Why isn't Twilight's old friends there? They couldn't have Sci-Twi not really feel happy with her old friends in crystal prep? That couldn't have been a better idea for the friendship games and would display a good message on how you should let old things go.
It's not ment that canterlot people are on crystal prep, crystal prep us meant to signify Twilights life before she made friends and moved to ponyville (canterlot high). On the first episode of mlp her friends are encouraging her to come to moondancers party, saying things like "I think she cares more about books than freinds" . That's not something a crystal prepper would say
I thought the same. Would have been cool to have the Canterlot friends as villains, of the ones we got I really only remember the sarcastic one.
Human characters also seem to have some memories of their counterparts as pinkie, the CMC, and Megan seem to react to things you would think they shouldn't be aware of.

In my opinion, the reason why EG fails so hard is because
It had a weak foundation
unlike my little pony the show, which since the beginning had clear rules established of how the world works, EG always went with whatever happened and the only explanation ever given to us is that "magic works differently" but we're never explained in depth how exactly it works, which is weird because in the first movie Sunset makes fun of Twilight for not knowing what happens when you bring an element of Harmony into another dimension, but she spends the rest of the saga worried about what magic may do because it works differently and she doesn't understand it
so at the end of the day, while when watching MLP you know what is happening and how it is happening, In EG you just wait for them to explain what's going on because you don't have a clear idea of how things work
Soooo
It might be possible that the magic later on in the other movies is different from whatever she was talking abt with the element of harmony or she knows something messed up can happen if an element of harmony is brought into the world but doesn't have a full complete understanding of what exactly happens
discord in the pony world : nooo dont turn me into a marketable plushie !!
discord in equestria girls : AAAAA-
I may be biased here, but I do enjoy the Equestria Girls. Probably due to my touch with anime.
Sunset Shimmer was definitely my fav in the whole show. The only gripe I have with the movies and series was the introduction of Flash Sentry.
It was clear that the writers wanted to bring in a love interest for Twilight but they simply tested the waters and went for the 'Will they/Won't they' scenario.
He was hated for being a waifu stealer and such so much of the pony community didn't want him getting involved.
Flash could've been so much more, but they decided to scrap the whole thing.
Other than that, I find the Equestria Girls setting pretty cool.
lol, i should've mentioned in this vid that i actually prefer EG over MLP. i'm just critical of it more because i like it more if that makes sense.
Sunset is my favorite too (In all of MLP)
What they did with Flash, I do like/find it funny how they moved him more and more to the background as EG went on. Like, I get why he was so prominent in the first one, more or less to fulfill the "High School Movie Checklist a la Love Interest" and as the series went on the less and less use they had for him and as a minor role in EG I say he works out fine
I mean EG is more popular then FiM in Japan for a reason… it’s basically a magical girl anime
@Mario & Sonic Fan Are you thr same guy i see on onekface fimfiction? Love is Magic?
What about the issue with Spike too?
Considering the fact that real life horses live for about 30 years, it's very likely that at the age of 17 they are mature enough to work and have families while in human world they are only highschoolers...
Yeah that explanation seems to make the most sense. I honestly feel like they just wanted to shove everyone into a high school setting tho, which creates the eerie illusion(if accidental) that the entire world is just a high school snow globe.
Yeah the high school world thing always felt weird to me
Meh, in FiM they do seem to age just like humans.
The most likely explanation is that Hasbro didnt actually try to make it make sense, they just wanted to compete with Monster High.
Thats also why i'll never consider EG as canon, especially considering it has no bearing at all on the actual show.
It is unlikely that ponies in MLP age the same way as real life ponies. Let's say, people live until 80. If the mane six were only 17 years old, which is half the horse's age, it would be 40 in human world. But Twillight and the others are implied to be young adults, not someone in their fourties. It seems like the writers of Equestria Girls just didn't care much about the logic.
Never understood why they made Gummy a Plushie because having an alligator "would look out-of-place" in Human world... I mean, everybody in Equest--... Canad--... The Human World consider having an intelligent horse disguised as a human who's powerful enough to enslave them... and DID IT is totally normal and not a Alien Invasion-level threat xD
And the most important question is.... Why are Tiara, Silver Spoon, Rarity and DJ Pon-3 -being apparently utterly wealthy -studying at the low-to-middle class school instead of Crystal High?? (Probably their families already despised Cinch)
i mean i think the simple answer is characters like dj pon-3 were too popular for hasbro to not try and find an excuse to make dolls of them as soon as physically possible haha
I don't think Rarity is particularly wealthy. At least, her family certainly isn't. Rarity is obsessed with high class fashion, but the rest of her family is pretty normal and down to earth. As for Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, and DJ Pon-3 (I guess Octavia too), we don't really have an explanation for why their pony counterparts live in rural Ponyville either
@@Commenter839 In the episode that Diamond Tiara's father is introduced it's said that his grandpa was one of the founders of ponyville and that their fortune comes from selling the Apple Family's zap apple jam
@@magnus6609 That's fair, I forgot about that episode. Though afaik we don't have an explanation for any of the other apparently wealthy people living in Ponyville
Their parents wanted to keep them down to earth and not thinking they’re better than less rich people ig?
Okay so I get why Sci-Twi doesn’t have the wings in her pony form, but what doesn’t make sense is that in the Legend of Everfree, when she ponies up, she gets WINGS so that’s why it also kinda doesn’t make sense why she has wings when she ponies up but when she goes through the portal she doesn’t have wings.
Edit - I would also like to see a part 2
It always really bothered me why her ponied up form has not only wings, but _alicorn_ wings.
@@-memoria-2136 ikr that’s what doesn’t make sense. When poined up yes alicorn wings! But in pony form - no
@@-memoria-2136 because princess Twilight is connected to sci-twi, while pri twi worked for her wings, sci-twi didn't. That's why she doesn't have alicorn wings and it's only accessible for her in human world , not in Equestria.

I'm glad there are still people making new pony content. Coming up with new and interesting video ideas after a decade of G4 isn't the easiest thing I'd imagine.
G4 sucks. Give me the classic MLP or the version i grew up with (this one) anyday.
I really wanna point out how Cheerilee seems to be about the same age as the mane six in the pony world while in the human world she looks like a woman in her mid 20s while the mane six are all teens. Make it make sense
Maybe human Cherilee just looks young for her age? Or she’s a couple years older and is a student teacher?
@@imthebossmermaid3648 being a young teacher would actually make sense, I agree 🤔
Cheerilee probably is older than the Mane 6 but not ridiculously older to look all that different as a pony. Like when I was 15 one of my teachers was like... 21/23 ish so that's probably whats happening with this.
One headcanon I have, is that Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna are clones of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. The mirror was in Princess Celestia's possession a very long time, so she might have had some knowledge about humans. So once Luna returned, both princesses visited the Mirror Pool, made clones of themselves and sent them to the Human World to observe and blend in.
That’s creepy.
You forget, Luna and Celestia were not born Alicorns. They were just as shocked as all involved that Flurry Heart was born an Alicorn. They said this has never happened in Equestria's history. I think it was a power they found to defeat Discord the first time and in so doing became Equestria's rulers after vanquishing him using half The Elements each. Or maybe I am once again confusing canon with fanon.
@@real_abender Luna- "It is beyond even our understanding." Hence, it has never happened in their life times.

@@DilettanteThat Cool, I made it to season 9 and gave up with only 5 episodes to go. The Discord/Grogar scandal was too much to bear.
I think officially luna and celestia got their wings very very young, in “a tale of two sisters”, they had wings long before their cutie marks and in all of the comics that i can think of they grew up with alicorn powers. I really like sawtooth waves’s explanation of alicorn magic, that C&L represents sisterly/sibling love, shining armor and cadence represent romantic love together (and cadence represented romantic love before meeting SA as well, everyone wanted to date her lol) twilight obviously has the magic of friendship and flurry heart represents the love that children have for their parents.
Twilight got her wings when she got involved with her friends and finished a spell about friendship. Celestia and Luna presumably got their wings early on, since sisterly love isn’t instinctive, but is a readily available bond to form. Cadence must have gotten her wings shortly after pony puberty since thats when romance typically enters the mind (since canonically she has her wings pre-shining armor) and Flurry Heart was born with wings because the love she represents is instinctive from birth. Thanks for reading all this rambling lol. I really wish the wing thing was explained more in depth tho.

and we be seeing background characters of ponys being alicorns
adult pony twilight falling for teenage human flash always rubbed me the wrong wat tbh
Honestly I feel like Equestria girls would have worked better if they put the characters in college, it'd still have a school setting but also the characters could believability be adults like how they're implied to be in the main show and really nothing would change aside from the setting.
Agreed
Wouldn't that make them less relatable to target audience then given the preference for younger characters in animated shows nowadays?
@@aertnadle2466 I mean, not much would change, it'd still be in a school-like setting and it's not like college hasn't been shown in kid's shows before.

And the human cmc wouldn't be completely out, just have it where the college is near an elementary school so it's more believable they'd be there, like they come there to see their big sisters or something.

I mean obviously we know why they didn't made Twilight come out of the portal naked, still doesn't make sense
Maybe the mirror gave them clothes in order to fit into the human world better…and so that she doesn’t get gawked at by boys.

Another thing that bothers me is that there’s no horn when the mane seven “pony up”, yet sunset and twilight have gotten horns in their big angelic / evil form and that’s about it from what I recall
Honestly? It’s probably just because it looks weird/would be inconvenient.
Oh no-
They turned gummy into a marketable plush!
One thing that always bothered me is that they never explain how the time difference works between the two worlds.
Let me explain.
We know that the Dazzlings were banished through the portal a thousand years ago. However, according to the comic issue detailing their backstory, they seemed to have been in the Human World for a couple of years at most.
Sunset Shimmer went through the portal while Twilight Sparkle was still a foal. And she was still a student during the plot of Equestria Girls.
This would imply that time flows considerably slower in the Human World compared to the Pony World.
However, Twilight spent a couple of days in the Human World, and when she returned, it seemed like only a couple of hours passed in the Pony World. I say this because everypony was still next to the mirror and there were no indications that they have been there for a long time. By the logic I mentioned above, it should feel like she had spent months, at minimum, in the Human World.
I think I have a theory, What-If:
Based on what were given on the show the portal to Equestria open and closes for a specific amount of time right? So what if when the portal is closed then the time between two words isnt synced then if the portal opens the two worlds time get synced hence why it explains your last statement so as soon as twilight used the journal to keep the portal open that meant that the time between two worlds will always be in sync
Sci Twi in PONY World: unicorn
Sci Twi in HUMAN World: Alicorn
My guess is that Principal Cinch is supposed to be Queen Chrysalis. Since changelings don’t exist (to our knowledge) in the human world, Cinch might be Chrysalis’s ponysona like how Thorax had Crystal Hoof? It would match up with the principal = royalty thing. Not to mention that Cadence “overthrows” Cinch as well. Any pets that can’t talk: Pets
Any assistance: Dogs/Cats

Really bullcrap.
Assistants are not some sub-species. Spike is a SAPIENT living being.
If they made sci twi an alicorn for no reason i belive the fandom would have imploded. Its bad enough she tried to steal the show from poor sunny D
But now she has alicorn status for no reason?
I know, right? I’ve left this comment several times now but I think she had wings for the sake of marketing since Hasbro kept her around to sell toys. But it’s insulting since pony Twilight had to actually EARN her wings while Sci-Twi just gets handed them. This is of the many things that bothered me about the series tbh
my theory is that the writers just did not put that much thought into the logic of the human world and how the ponies' ages translates to human world haha. it wouldve been nice had they gone deeper and actually tried to make sense of everything
In my opinion, they should have made the main 6 (and other characters) college students who are going to college for their special talents they have in Equestria (For example: pinkie pie going to college to become a baker, Applejack going to college for agriculture, etc.)

Does that mean that she is only nine or something?
I think they just took a more meta approach. In the show, Spike is Twi's sidekick, so they made him what could fulfill that role in the "irl" world.
They of course needed the main character to be in high school so they could rival in toy sales with Barbie and Monster High etc. so they just shaped this world around the concept, while trying to keep a similar role of the character or it's relation to Twilight.
Might not be a very "in-universe" explanation, but i guess there'll be never an answer. We could nitpick more things obviously, for all of we know, Sunset could as well kill her human counterpart. And sure, great headcanon, but that's not information we were given by the show.
Yep, money and rivalry.
There were PLENTY of companies wanting a piece of that Monster High fame.
Actually, there was a canceled movie for the series. It was supposed to be the 5th and final in the saga, centered around human Sunset coming back for revenge of Pony Sunset stealing her identity and ruining her life. The ending was supposed to feature a threat of dimensional collapse if the world connections stayed open, and focus on pony Sunset's decision on which world she wanted to live in.
@@amandaslough125That actually sounds like A VERY compelling story that could touch darker themes!

Whenever there were big magic battles in the films, particularly when these battles were in the city, why on eartth didn’t anyone in the vicinity call the emergency services or armed forces?! We know police exist, because in the music video for DJ PON-3’s song we see a traffic cop, but that’s it!
Am I over-thinking this as well?!

Another thing that doesn't make sense is the whole love plot between Twilight and Flash Sentry. Like, they blush around each other for two films and then Twilight goes back to Equestria and... that's all. Just like the girls were telling Flash a few times throughout the films, it's highly doubtful their relationship could really work since Twilight is literally a princess from another world, who has duties, family and original friends back in Equestria. Maybe they could visit each other at first but eventually one of them would have to leave their original world to be with the other. The fun thing is that in the end of the first film they even showed us that there is pony Flash and he is a guard in the Crystal Castle. And Twilight met him. And... that's it. He isn't even shown or mentioned anywhere neither in the next EG films or the main show.
And even human Twilight doesn't show any interest in him, instead going for Timber Spruce in the fourth film. I just feel bad for Flash at this point, he was originally added in the story for the sake of a romance line, and then his romance line just gets dumped.
I think Twilight’s just the type that’s logical enough to know that the relationship wouldn’t work out long-term, so she doesn’t bother trying to initiate anything.
I agree with you on Flash tho lol.
@@EffMinus Hello, is there any possibility of updating EQG?
just some extra info I'd like to add:
1. his pony counterpart did make appearances in the show but rather as a background character, in twilight's Kingdom part 1 & 2 and in forgotten friendship. he seemed emotionless to twilight and sunset just like how a normal guard behaves, faintly hinting that twilight didn't make a move for him and anything.
2. also you need not to feel bad for the human one, in the equestria girls shorts and specials, he got closer to sunset again but since the show didn't get a proper ending, it's not 100% canon.
@@cindylikesloona Ah, right, I forgot he used to date Sunset Shimmer. Well, then I guess things are looking a little better for him, even though it is also unlikely that he is going to reunite with Sunset again, since I suppose their past relationship weren't really healthy back in the day due to Sunset's attitude, and though she has changed, it might've still left them both thinking recovering those relationships might be a bad idea.
And in all honesty, while I haven't watched some later shorts of EG, it seems to me even Twilight & Timber relationship doesn't really progress that much. Show creators overally don't seem to want to work with romance lines. Which is, partially, understandable, since it is originally a show about friendship, after all.
I can't wait for someone to say "this is a kids show stop thinking on it so hard"

@@3liipzx i wonder who
Oh do I love Equestria Girls and its beautiful, confusing plot holes.
Equestria High is not a type of dimension that is closely parallel Pony World, it's a dimension that have aspects of the originals but with so many changes. For example, Earth-616 and Ultimate Dimension. 616-Spidey was 15 at the mid 20th century and his guardians went through the Depression Era, but Ultimate Spidey is 15 at the start of 21th century and his guardians were hippies. The spider was radioactive while the other was genetically modified by Oz Formula.
I hope it helps.
Finally someone else get its about different dimension rules.
My head cannon is that the mirror alters reality around it to make it similar to the pony world, forcing it into a "reflection" of Equestria. For me this allows most problems to be resolved without doing anything too noticeable on the human side. Characters like Principal Celestia wouldn't be immortal, but would instead be members of a long line of people named Celestia who keep rising to some position of power near the mirror. Spike is a dog for now because that best matches the relationship he has with Twilight, he's loyal and they care for each other but he's mostly subservient especially in the earlier seasons. Spike the second in the human world will almost certainly be human to match the greater independence and influence (and size) he gains later in the series. This also helps explain why things might match poorly in some cases. The mirror doesn't control time, it just influences the destiny of some people, so ages won't always match exactly. Also it doesn't respond to quick changes instantly, it's just trying to make the human side match the pony side as best it can. I'm know that this idea has some holes, like Crystal Prep probably shouldn't exist yet, but I think it's at least better than most other theories.
Honestly the most idea of the human world being based on how you see yourself makes way more sense then dog=dragon
You people gotta learn to distinguish between canon and cannon lol
Actually now you mention it, isn't it sad that Spike is literally Twilight's dog? Isn't that basically slavery then in the pony world? Why isn't he Twilight's equal?
This all goes down the weird pipeline that I have in my head that MLP FIM was very racist, and saw all non-pony characters as lessers, aka animals. Which is dumb because they appear to have every last bit of sentience ponies do. Smh.

In the eqg comic sunset was about The same age as twilight when she went to ponyville... I think? Twilight was being foulsat by cadence in the comic in the background. When sunset went into the mirror world she was a freshman in high school.
My headcanon is that Equestrian beings like Sunset and the Dazzlings who just live in the human world, don't age, or just age incredibly slowly. This is due to some movie bs between how the worlds and their magics interact.
What if Canterlot High is "the real world" and Equestria is just a place one of the students made up for a story they wrote that references a bunch of people. He turned the principals into Alicorn princesses, etc.
Lol so eg is the prequel.

I think the reason that Winona and the other pets are their original species is because they didn't have to go to the portal and be subjected to wacky horse magic.
Is it weird that everyone is calling each other by their pony names since they got turned into humans? If twilight from the human world is unicorn in pony world why she has wings in her magical form in human world if she is not a princess
The thing is they didn’t think bout that, their only goal was to make a nice little show for young kids not to get everything matched up and stuff, their content wasn’t for full grown adults 😭
one of my issues is when sci twi powers up in the movies and spin offs she always has wings because shes the stand in to our twi but when she goes into actual horse world shes a unicorn. is this implying the humans dont actually have their own magic and are technically borrowing power from the horse world? because that conflicts with the very premise of the first movies finale
in regards to the skin: the mane 6 (and other profitable characters); they originally had established human skin colors, but for the sake of "equality" (aka: hasbro doesn't see POC as profitable) they nerfed the skins

There was this one inconsistency in the series that’s always been at the back of my mind when i first saw it. When human twilight and co. wen to the pony world, she’s a unicorn. But during legend of everfree, after freeing herself from her inner demons, her anthro form shows her having wings, ergo she must be an alicorn.
Idk maybe it was a sudden burst of magic kinda like cozy glow but i’m not sure.
(Also these videos are really cool keep up the good work!)
When the girls Pony Up, they draw magic from their Equestrian counterparts and take on their attributes. (Sunset being from Equestria takes on attributes of her native form.) Since Princess Twilight is an alicorn, Sci-Twi takes on her wings during Pony Ups.
I think it boils down to marketing. Sci-Twi was specifically kept in this franchise to sell toys, and so those wings of hers are a staple of production for Hasbro merchandising.
I do hope that this gets a part 2
I think Spike was turned into a dog because of his personality. He is loyal and kind of twilight’s pet/companion/servant. Just like a dog.

@@EffMinus Yes absolutely Amen
I dunno, he and Twilight actually have more of a big sister/little brother dynamic, and since I'm pretty sure he's older than the CMC so it wouldn't be a stretch to make him a human since he has a more sibling like bond instead of just being a pet.
@@ferretqueen2908 I would definitely agree with that towards the end of fim since their relationship progresses in a way, and spike even gets to rule right beside twilight; however, in the good first half of the series spike was kind of used and abused-something in my opinion the series should of acknowledged and brought up. Even up until really late in fim I generally get servant/pet/lackey vibe rather than sibling/child vibe. But if you don’t feel the same way that’s totally fine. We each have our own opinions. The thing about Spike's form is that Spike may have messed with his destiny by flinging himself through the portal to chase after Twilight.
Things aren't a perfect 1:1 between worlds, and we see that human world Spike was permanently "marked" by a single pass through a portal, so maybe if he hadn't gone through the mirror at the same time, making himself an accessory to Twilight, maybe he could have gotten a different form.

Oh yeah why hasn’t there been a episode of eqg where Sandbar, Silverstream, Gallus, Smolder, Yona, and Ocellus went to the human world?
Dude, I think time also kind of runs backwards or something in the Human World, too. The whole conceit of the first movie is to keep Sunset Shimmer from winning the crown at the Fall Formal, a thing she has won the past three years... at a high school... which typically only have four years for one to enter and then exit. The characters are then in school for the next four or so years. How does that work? There's no way they all failed and had to repeat multiple times, and I doubt everything in Equestria Girls happens all in the same final year of high school, too. Maybe the first three movies do (in fact we know the first two basically happen back to back), but that trip to Everyfree Forest has to be in a new year, and by the time you get to Forgotten Friendship, maybe even two years have passed from the first movie. Something weird happened.
Speaking of time...
The way I see it in regards to character ages and which characters appear and where, these two universes are really only linked by this specific moment in time in their own respective universes. Or everything moves in proportion to one another, however that method does not account for characters that live for thousands of years and therefore breaks. Rather, I think what happens is that there just happen to be a similar number of familiar faces all coming into existence around the same point in time for both respective universes. Like you can only have the Mane 6, Trixie, Bulk Biceps, Derpy, Cadence, Shining Armor, Lyra, Bon Bon, etc. all existing at the exact same time as their respective counterparts, this is really the only time it has ever happened and ever will. This equates for the other characters who don't have a human version from the pony world, or don't have a pony version from the human world, I think they have completely different ancestries. There are certainly chances that everyone exists in both universes, they just aren't in the same locations, but I think it's easier to assume that only certain people exist that have an alternate counterpart at the same time.
I mean, consider this: Sunset Shimmer is originally a pony, but she has chosen to live in the human world forever as far as we know. We don't know if there is an original human Sunset Shimmer, and if there is/was, we don't know what happened to her (I have serious doubts Sunset threw her into Equestria since there was only one known portal at the time she crossed over, and most other options suggest serious criminal activity), but say that the Sunset Shimmer we know decides to have biological children, that doesn't mean someone's just going to spawn into existence in the pony world, that's ridiculous, even with a world full of magic. Or say that you decided it was time to kill a character, and for a good example, let's kill human Big Mac, that doesn't mean pony Big Mac doesn't still find Sugarbelle and have a child. Equestria Girls can get a bit insane with the relationships, we don't have to get into details, but suffice to say, there may be some parallels, but you're either going to end up with predestinational type stuff and wracking your brain, or you can just accept that certain occurrences have allowed very similar characters having parallel equals in a human world and pony world that could never really happen again in either the past or the future. Basically, going from one world to the next will change your physical form, but that does not mean you have an equal.
This is why Sci-Twi is only a unicorn. Yes, Twilight was originally a unicorn, so it makes sense Sci-Twi would be, too, but this also kind of confirms that people with equivalents can be different, just like how Sci-Twi also wears glasses, when Twilight does not. What happens in one universe does not outright affect the other, the only thing that can really do that is magic. I suppose in this case I really shouldn't be saying equivalents or counterparts, but rather variants, where similarities are allowed, but as the name implies, variables can be changed to create an entirely unique being. This is why I think it's more that the two universes just happen to have a number of similarities in who populate them, but allow for the rest of the world to be completely different. It's really kind of a miracle that there are so many similarities, but you just chalk that up to it being what was necessary for the story being told and allowing it to happen. In 100 years time for both universes, because humans and ponies and their pets all age different, the populations would look completely different. G5 is currently going on, and I won't say it's impossible for Sunny, Pipp, Zipp, Izzy, and Hitch to exist in the human world, but depending on how much time has passed between G4 and G5, I find it highly unlikely. Or perhaps similar circumstances have occurred once again where the right genetic ancestors have begat each other for human variants of the G5 characters to exist, the showrunners will play god if they so desire.
I honestly never liked eqg, maybe because I’m not as into human characters.
