I get tired of people saying Clare looks old. She's supposed to be in her early 50s by this time, and I think she looks damn good! They could age up Jamie a little more though, to be fair. Spirited passionate people don't have to be unsexy because they're grown a little older, we live in a youth-obsessed culture. And with their facial bones structures they would age quite gracefully anyway, I'd say.
Cat H She does look old, but she’s supposed to. Not just because of time, but also because time travel ages you. Each time you do it, it wears on the body. Claire has been through the stones 3 times.
As for their appearance, they look good. Claire has some gray hair and Jamie, well, you can't see his red hair. At that time, they had about 50. It doesn't have to be that old hehehe
@@Mel-jy4kc Hollywood version of old is not the same as real life old. Add ten years to the actor's face you see to work out what age they're portraying. Catriona Balfe is a well-kept 40-41 when she's playing this role, and they only aged her by a few years more than a 40 yo in real life. The average person in their 50s has wrinkles, sags, a double chin, is overweight and lost their waistline. Hollywood creates impossible expectations in people. They almost always cast actors younger than their older (middle age and beyond) characters and keep them looking glamorous if they're in a leading role. Claire looks beautiful, not old, just middle-aged which is neither old nor young.
Patricia Barron remember Ms. Patricia, this series was written by a woman. It speaks to our hearts and our inner most desires. But most of us are not willing to put the work and faith in our own relationships like the character of Jamie.
@@NEMO-NEMO i am a woman and, while i enjoy this show( mostly because of the historical setting, starz is really good with that, and because always is happening something, is quite dynamic, tho they need to stop with the r*ape as device for character growth, seriously, ) , i don't really like jamie and claire's relationship, i feel they are way too codependent on each other, they were separated 20 years and were unable to truly move on, they just unable, or refuse, to be completely fullfiled and happy without each other and they are way to willing to give up everything and everyone to be together, plus their way of solving big conflicts tends to be yelling and having angry s*x. and that's not really a healthy relationship, yeah, it looks all nice in tv or books, very passionate and romantic. But in real life a dynamic like theirs would be really toxic.
To me I would tell Jaime that he has given Claire, his name, His clan, and the protection of his body like he said on their wedding night. but also so much love and just being there to support each other.

So, she had said she was 27 when they married. She there for 3 years, and gone for 20 years. That makes them 50. Outside of a few gray hairs on Claire she hasn't aged much. As for Jamie he looks exactly the same. They should have done something to show the last 20 years.
Jamie told Claire “we have been married 24 years Claire” so Claire is 51 and Jamie is 46 remember after their wedding they were riding on horseback and he ask her how old she was and Claire said “I’m 27 and Jamie said”I thought u were younger than me that means when I am 40 u will be 245!” LOL!! 🥰🥰♥️♥️
Many times when they try to quote from the books it’s just awkward. This was one of those times. He sounds pissed. She’s trying to make sure he’s not going to be bored and he sort of snaps at her. Not digging this season as they’re trying too hard to pull in so much from the books and some just don’t fit.
What? Snaps at her? His response was very sweet and gentle. When he says he has nothing to give her, he means that he can't take care of her in the way that he would like to. He's not a wealthy man of means.
Sorry posted prematurely ! Clair was having second thoughts about going back, and she told Jamie everything she had left behind. Maybe Jamie was feeling bad, by not having the means to make her life better. 🤔😊

Sam is not that much younger than Jamie in season 4, actually, and I believe they use makeup and prosthetics to age him in the show. Caitriona's and Claire's age gap is larger but I believe that the wig with gray streaks works pretty well by making her look older yet still attractive, like she is supposed to in the books. Realistically, though, you can't make lead actors look much older in a long-running show, would require too much expensive prosthetics/CGI. And replacing lead actors half-way in season 3 wouldn't work either.
